I am using the hp envy 4 and it gets pretty bright but probably not as bright as the samsung. The max brightness is useable in a sun lit room and is a little blinding at night(i usually set it at 7/10 ). You really have to try it out urself.

IMHO, the only brand to go for is probably Dell for that. Anything wrong, they come to you. Should the service center be on the opposite side of city, going across would be a headache for student in strange land.

I think they cover most of the major ones. Best ask before buying and make sure the model you buy here is also available in the overseas country that you will be using in.

bosses & gentlemen,

Anyone 100% sure if Ultrabook's battery are like notebook's? i mean i plan to buy 1, but the battery is build in. while i'm using a notebook right now, i never put in the battery as it'll spoil charging it while using for a long time...will this happen to an Ultrabook IF i put on the charger & use for a long time?

i know i can somehow take out the battery, but sometimes once in awhile, i may need to use the battery.

The Alienware M14x is no where near the performances of these two machines brows.gif Its more geared towards portability... The M17x is out of your budget unfortuntaely sad.gif
Both the MSI and Asus are more or less similar, it just boils down to which one you like most nod.gif

You're right, its going to be a problem since most ultrabooks have built-in batteries laugh.gif
What you can do is try not to get too high-spec processors/ try not to put your laptop on load... this will at least lower the temps by a bit hmm.gif

4GB RAM is only around RM70 bro haha XD

Since you have a good budget, you can consider upgrading the HDD in either the MSI/Asus to SSD. The conventional HDD is the bottleneck to the performance of these gaming rigs hmm.gif

And yes, both comes with FullHD screens and a powerful CPU (might wanna add more RAM though if possible, at least 8GB), good for editings and stuffs

hi all

am planning to get new laptop

1. Brand : Anything but Asus, Acer, Compaq
2. Budget : 3k
3. Usage : moderate gaming (WoW and maybe new transformer?)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : at least 14"

actually i found 1 laptop suitable for me. iirc the model is Lenovo G480. but i cant seem to find it on the net. the specs are (if not mistaken)
i5 CPU
4GB (2x2GB) RAM
2GB VGA (forgot Nvidia or ATI)
standard wireless

i check in laptop section, the closest i found is Y480, but the price differ too much. 2099 (G480) vs 2699 (Y480). so i dont think its the same

can anyone clarify the model for me? icon_question.gif
also, if can please suggest any laptop that suits my usage above

by the way, how is Lenovo quality and service? i ask the shop for their service center, both shop give different answer (USJ 1 and Bandar Utama)

please help icon_question.gif
