QUOTE(PMW @ Jun 25 2013, 10:39 PM)
Just bought a LG 60LM6450.
Coming from a 7yrs old Panasonic Plasma, I was annoyed with 2 issues which was not present with the old Plasma.
Watch mainly Astro HD and downloaded movies.

1. Backlight Bleeding.
The 4 corners has torchlighting when watching letterboxed content in a dark room. Certain corners are brighter. Tried a bunch of settings (backlight/local dimmimg etc) to overcome the problem, the improvement is marginal and annoying.

2. Motion judder and ghosting.
Certain Astro content judder more than some. Astro HD content seems to have more judder tried a bunch Trumotion and Real Cinema settings which does not help.

Tried different HDMI cables to no avail.
Any recommendation on what I should do.
Am I too picky to be using a LED TV?
Thanks.

as those pros here say so, if want bigger screen go get plasma like pana, u will see lots of comments there. but if led, this led cost around 9k+, y not just buy smaller screen like 55 inche but higher spec eg. 55lm9600 or 55la7400. i think it feels alot better than 60lm6450 & below.

Well....thats why most AV enthusiasts choose Plasma over LED. Maybe the higher end models can eliminate this issues but not completely. Not much u can do about it. Im facing the same issues as well but i think i can live with it. And yeah....some Astro HD content like Food Network HD the judder is terrible....no idea why sad.gif

What model are u watching? Your trumotion setting? Off or USER max out?!

LG 60LM6450 has identical specs to 55LA7400 -MCI 800, Local Dimming. 55LM9600 expensive. Bought mine for rm5999 foc 8 glasses. 55in is too small of an upgrade from the 50in Plasma. So..60LM6450.

My old tv is a Pana Plasma, thought of LED due to better bright room performance, passive 3D and lower power consumption. (8hrs daily)
Maybe should have gone for Panansonic 60ST60.
I never thought that the LED judder can be so prominient. TorchLighting is easier to ignore.

Im using 55LM6700. Trumotion set at USER 5. The trumotion settings doesn't really help much i guess. Or maybe because mine is the low end model sad.gif

I am just wondering if it 'normal' for LED TV to have these issues or I have an faulty set that should be replaced?

My whole family have tested the active 3D of the 60ST60, all 6 of us are of the same opinion as your wife, it's 3D is very dark, flickers till you get dizzy, it sucks!
Initially I hope for a passive plasma but technically not possible. Maybe I am too greddy.
So if I actually take 3D performance into account, the choice of the swap gets blurry but only consider 2D then surely ST60.
I am leaning more for the swap but not my kids and wife. Probably end up like you! Very Ouch!

guys recently i surveyed few brand LED TVs..

currently i thought of getting either

SAMSUNG - UA40F5500ARXXM 40" Series 5 LED SMARTV, WIFI built in 100hz CMR....RM2199
at sengheng 400 discount from original price 2599, so can add up 5 years warranty for 329.. sounds worth

LG - 42 inch LM6700 3D CINEMA SCREEN, CINEMA 3D SMART TV, LED PLUS, MCI 400... RM3300
(not sure i saw 42 inch or 47 but this LM6700 already released last year, why the price RM3300 is it 2013 model with any extra features and firmware ?)

SONY - 42 inch W804A BRAVIA 3D / Internet LED backlight TV KDL-42W804A Motionflow™ XR 400 Hz.. RM3499...
website price

anyone can recommend me cheaper than above prices around KL area ? im from GOMBAK.

I have checked above 3 LED tvs, ya ofcourse the specifications varies based on the prices.. and the refresh rate are different as well..i got know about those Motionflow by sony, Clear Motion rate by samsung, Motion clarity index by LG are their own gimmick way of addressing the "REFRESH RATE"... the original way of calling the picture motion quality..

basically what they stated is not the actual refresh rate probably the increase of backlighting making it looks more awesome with one and another..
SAMSUNG 100hz CMR is 50hz REFRESH RATE
SONY 400hz MOTIONFLOW is 100hz REFRESH RATE
LG 400hz MCI/TRUEMOTION is 100hz REFRESH RATE

Attached Image

i also have tested some functions at showroom, like smartphone screen mirroring (galaxy note 2).. with UA40F5500 which is wifibuilt in with ALLSHARE i able to share screen wirelessly and quite fast probably samsung compatiblity..

tested with W804A BRAVIA, its detecting and connected via ALLSHARE but respond time not good as samsung TV.. probably Sonysmartphone like Xperia can go well.. then i have tested the MHL cable which comes with that TV connect to my NOTE 2.. said universal cable but its not detecting my mobile at all..

then tested LM6700, which have more cool functions, switched on WIFIdirect, able to detect my NOTE 2 signal, can connect but the screen not mirroring keep disconnecting.. the sales person not able to explain it saying maybe this TV only compatible with LG OPTIMUS smartphone.. so i have no idea if anyone here has this TV and able to screen mirroring wirelessly with this LG...

what i understand is you can able to share ur mobile screen either wired or wireless.. like for GALAXY NOTE 2 if connecting to non WIFI tv, u need to get samsung MHL cable which is different than usual MHL cable.. connect to HDMI port able to detect.. or else you can get ALLSHARE CAST wireless hub, connect to ur HDMI port.. able to detect the signal from ur mobile..

with the TV comes with WIFI built in with ALLSHARE, directly can able to detect wirelessly... looks like now this screen mirroring advanced to something call MIRACAST.. future smartphones and smartvs will be using this and can able to screen mirroring each other without hassle..

because i have seen GALAXY S4 which has MIRACAST able to mirror with LG TV.. but im not sure his phone able to detect because of the BLURAY player which has MIRACAST already connected to LG HDMI port.. this sounds like BLURAY player helping him to mirror the screen to LG... im not sure whether S4 and LG is compatible each other directly on screen mirroring...

another thing i would like to ask about

UA40F5000ARXXM ConnectShare™ (USB 2.0) Movie (HDD)
UA40F5500ARXXM ConnectShare™ (USB 2.0) Movie

so that means the F5000 model can read HARD DISK DRIVE plug in straight to USB , where F5500 dont read HDD, only USB flash drive ? no way we can make HDD run directly plug into USB ? the USB board created such way just to read USB flash drive ? sounds ridiculous ha..

any one here has any experiences welcome to share friends...

The LM6700 only support screen mirroring by using LG smartphone if im not mistaken. Ive tried mine using iphone but cannot find a way.But this year's models all have the new Miracast feature which i suppose can connect to most smart devices

some i saw in this forum mentiong LM6700 is RM2700 something, i need to check with that shop again what model i saw ha ? oh ya now i remember i took the latest brochures with me for 2013 models.. need to get back home later n check it..

Have anyone tried out LG LA7400 series? Please give feed back on this series compared to last year models and other brand?
Over here in Sabah a few big electrical shops have stopped selling LG LED TVs. They said LG TVs break down easily and are difficult to fix. I personally find the reason difficult to accept as most LED TV nowadays are not repaired, only broken spared parts are changed! Suspect it has more to do with margin to the retailers. What do u guys think?
