Finally working. Updating to 8779 now. Looks like i'll have to do it a few more times.
As for the screenshot, AFAIK all you have to do is press the windows key and the camera button at the same time, but my friend who updated his L800 to 7.8 says it doesn't work. Maybe it isn't available for 7.8?

Lots of patience haha. Just follow the steps in the link in the post i quoted. It took me a few tries.

i did it until now my zune tells me "cant check for updates now. please try again later".

I got that message twice so far. Normally it says my phone is up to date. Just keep trying! hahaha

Oh make sure you have Airplane Mode on.

Hmm I can't get it to 7.8 either it seems. Only managed to update to 8779. Not sure why. Gonna try a few more times.

If i don't on WiFi on my phone, i can NEVER get "Your phone is up to date", always get "Can't check for updates error 8000FFFF"

So i've been trying to force the update while my phone in airplane mode always get error message.

For those who can't force update, for example you need 12 seconds for Zune to tell you that your phone is up to date when you click update. So what you do is wait 10 secs for it and then disconnect it during the 10th or 11th seconds. Then you will get the message there is an update for your phone.

This is what I does. Managed to get it on Lumia 800. Turn on flight mode as well. Hope it helps.

Finally got it to update past 8773. Now updating to 8783 on my Radar.
What I did was, when the error message comes out saying "Try again later", I checked for update again, without turning off my connection, let it tell me it's updated, then try again.
