i'm using firefox, and i've been redirected only 3, 4 times to mylaunchpad, but all this started just 3 days ago (i've been a user for two weeks). they're not hijacking anything at the browser level, rather i believe it's done at their server level i suppose. if this happens more often on my side i'm going to complain to mcmc.

come on guys, to be fair not everyone here are not happy with maxis
every product in this world have their own standard & quality,
dont tell me u never see ppl complain bout Mercedes/BMW

maybe ppl raise the bar for Maxis abit higher, since they r MAXIS brows.gif

Added on July 29, 2012, 4:42 amback from the flaming, lets clear some misunderstanding

make your own judgement about problem raise by aeiou...

QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Jul 28 2012, 11:32 PM)
MHF 10mb at rm138 is no longer attractive. Those who signed up rm138 package but yet to instal, I give you 10 reasons why you should stick to unifi.
1. The price different is mere rm11 compare to VIP 5
Yes and VIP10 is RM199 - Maxis Win

2. Thomson router is problematic.
D-Link DIR615 have fair share of problem too, but in this case Thomsan more - Unifi Win

3. better overseas routes.
Can proof? This is very subjective. - No Winner

4. Maxis not friendly to File sharing site users, online  gamers,  multy taps browsers.
Again can proof? FYI, I cant download from rapidshare, but other user is okay - No Winner

5. VoIP must plug to thomson router instead of TM modem.
Yes, too bad coz the fiber modem is not belong to Maxis - Unifi Win and Tie (Me no prob)

6. Free calls to TM fixed lines.
Maxis also got free call to Maxis fixed lines and free (limited) minutes to Maxis Mobile and free (limited) minutes to 10 oversea call - Maxis Win, but Unifi Win IF all your frenz like to chat using fixed line

7. Now you can retain you existing TM home line for rm1 per month. (for home alarm)
U sure? if Yes, Unifi Win... it really problematic to pull a new cable to the Fiber Modem

8. A separate dedicated 8mbps line for iptv with some free to air channels.
Hopefully Maxis have dedicated bandwidth too - Unifi Win, Maxis unknown

9. Maxis iptv is optional add on and not sure is sharing our 10mbps bandwidth or dedicated line.
Same as above

10. Last but not least, no more maxis technician come but TM technician never turn up or maxis blame TM modem and TM blame maxis router finger pointing games.
Having 2 different contractor is a problem - Unifi Win

More about IPTV
>HyppTV have more Channel
Note: Maxis hv 14 content provider mostly SE Asia Boardcasting company, not US/Euro/EastAsia
>HyppTV now charge RM1/Channel, Note: Actual price is RM3 if not mistaken
Note: Minimal RM30 for 30 channels (Newspaper didnt mention this! Not too sure how it works)
>Free Channel RTM1,2,TV3,NTV7,8TV,TV9,TVi - Tie (both is free)

more bout Maxis IPTV,

well, I call and talk to Maxis CS regards IPTV, I hv also ask Maxis reseller bout IPTV
both of them told by Maxis do not give any confirmation to IPTV
this is what both of them seem to agreed...

1) Maxis will hv uninterrupt IPTV service, this seem like dedicated bandwidth
-> FYI, your VoIP is already hv a dedicated bandwidth... so IPTV is possible too
2) Bad news, Maxis IPTV Box will come in free but it required u to sign a 24months contract
-> Minimal packages is less than RM50... cry.gif Hopefully this is not true
3) Ananda Krishnan is selling Maxis. Note this is Maxis not Astro.
-> Those who wish Maxis IPTV to get some of Astro exclusive channel ESPN & WLT. Better give up now.

I will really piss if Maxis gonna ask me to sign another contract.... FCUK!!

really?? i was hoping maxis will bring some astro channel... are maxis iptv optional?? if yes, then i can consider to remain my astro...

they are separate product to begin with... same like Unifi and HyppTV.
in this case, they just make use of same devices...
hence there is a possibility we can get HyppTV too icon_rolleyes.gif but the IPTVBox is not rclxub.gif doh.gif

Finally, going in right direction.
CODE

1)   Jul 30 21:03:49 FIREWALL replay check (1 of 9): Protocol: ICMP Src ip: 58.71.xxx.xxx Dst ip: 14.192.xxx.xxx Type: Destination Unreachable Code: Port Unreacheable
Jul 30 21:02:36 DHCC lease ip-address 10.32.xx.xxx bound to intf eVoIP
Jul 30 21:02:36 DHCC intf eVoIP renews lease ip-address 10.32.xx.xxx

2)Green and blinking when theres usage

3)Modem lights: Auth, Ethernet, DSL, Status all green

4)Line quality good with voip

5)No problem connecting and reconnecting solves the problem but only for a very short while.

6)[IMG]http://www.speedtest.net/result/2091196661.png[/IMG]

7)Not sure what does this do, for ping, no packet loss.

*
1) I think Thomson have build in Intrusion Detection System (IDS), that why the log show someone try to PING to your unreachable port... they have anti port scanning too

2) 3) 4) Seem you have normal connection, especially your VoIP call is good, normally in digital data transmission if got problem it will cause voice lag or voice breaking up or line disconnect... (normally happen to international call)

5) No comment for this...

6) Your local speed is perfect

7) Your international connection seem fine too, if no packet loss, that mean it is good
Ping is to show if your connection got Long Relay and Lost of Packet
Tracert is to know where your connection lost in which server, eg packet lost (*) on Thomsan router or Maxis server or International Server.
Next time try to ping -t 8.8.8.8 for 1minute, then we will see a more consistent result

Hi guys. Just wanna ask.
Will they drill a hole into my house wall to install the ftth? Just that I dont want to alter my house in any way just for the sake of fast internet..
*
For standard installation, Yes/No... Minimal drilling for landed property

For non-standard installation, you need to pay for it (but the price is nego).
Eg: Cable over the ceiling, roof, etc

Thx for the feedback, but im a newbie in networking therefore i couldnt comment on all these technical stuff but could only provide personal experience on what im facing. Anyway i tried pinging 8.8.8.8 for a min and the results are quite good with only 1% loss. Btw, can i know if the situation stated in (1) normal?
*
Yes situation for (1) is normal, someone trying to id u before hack u brows.gif serious! and this is normal.

and i just saw your update ping, u have 59% ping lost for 100packet... this is huge problem
try move your laptop nearer to your wifi (3 meter will be perfect), not too near or far
and ping for 1minute again

LOL.. then im glad thomson has this firewall thing  sweat.gif

But the updated ping with 59% loss is when i ping the 2nd hop. What does the 2nd hop mean or do? So if this is the case, normally what causes it to have so much loss? Sry dude.. im throwing tons of questions.
*
what u mean second hop, tracert issit? second hop is the second router/server your connection pass thru...

packet loss, normally wifi signal not strong, fiber hv alot of noise, network switch hv collision, router cant handle heavy traffic, etc

btw i just notice I have around 8% packet lost using googledns, opendns is only 1%
now try... ping -t 208.67.222.222 , packet lost less than 4% for me is acceptable...

Hmm.. i followed ronnie's guide http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2441911

or should i ping 8.8.8.8, etc. if for 8.8.8.8 im getting 1% loss for 1 min

CODE
Ping statistics for 208.67.222.222:
   Packets: Sent = 103, Received = 103, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
   Minimum = 194ms, Maximum = 225ms, Average = 197ms

*
QUOTE(gogetter83 @ Jul 30 2012, 10:41 PM)
btw, take note that the packet loss on 2nd IP may not be a big issue. I don't think the 2nd hop is consistently the same IP.

I used pingplotter (there's free version, but the 30 day trial one gives out a nice graph). You'll notice that the 2nd hop IP keeps on changing. Probably load balancing?
*
FYI, I think ronnie already identified the 2nd hop issue, the high latency or packet loss on certain ip...
it hv pretty good result, at least we know which the point of failure from our connection...
lets hope ronnie going to call Maxis CS and ask them troubleshoot that particular router/switch

dont mention rapidshare they even block apple app store/itunes... wtf
after change to opendns, then only can surf...

so guys, if u have page failed to load or need constant refresh
please try your luck >> use opendns/googledns
1) 208.67.222.222
2) 8.8.8.8
this might help...
