rm50 per 5m..
they dont count rm10 per m..
hahaha..
that is how they make money..
if u want 3m, they give u 5m..
if u want 6m, they give u 10m

hmmm, after 1 night of light use, internet died on me once and require a reboot on the equipments

did some simple test on the thomson router and i'll say its wifi connection maybe the main issue that cause people to complain.

i did pingtest on a laptop which is about 8 feet away from the thomson(wifi signal is good), i repeatedly get D and F grade for my internet connection. However, speedtest results says that bandwidth is there about 9-10Mb

then i move the laptop to 2 feet from the thomson, repeated the test and get A grade for the connection. Speedtest results is similar like above.

in summary, the wifi is useable and it doesn't affect your download speed much if you still in good signal range. BUT, it does affect alot on ping response, jittery, packet lost which is pretty bad considering 2 ft vs 8 ft which is not that far apart.

really hope some manufacturer will come up with a better router replacement.

oh ya btw, LAN have no such issues on thomson
*
LAN no problem..I connect all the PCs n laptops in the house with LAN..
but wifi is XXX...

QUOTE(jasondell @ Jul 10 2012, 01:28 PM)
Haha sama sama kena con smile.gif I noticed there's heat issue with the stupid Thomson router, so I'll put one small fan above to overcome it. And the signal is quite weak when I'm at first floor. So I put my old wireless router then boost tr signal to full bar smile.gif so far speed was great and no problem.

Very good ideal if it does work, instead of paying  rm200 to TM contractor,  use the money for a pair of homeplug. rclxms.gif
*
y pay rm200 to the contractor?

we can choose where to drill the hole for the cable from the telephone pole to pass through right?

for example, the pole is right outside my kitchen, but instead of entering through the kitchen, i want them to enter through the store which is another 4 metres away. that way i could probably just make it with the 15 meters internal cabling.

we're entitled for 85 meters external cabling right?
*
be remember..the 85m is frm FDP to FTB only..
the FTB will be place OUTSIDE the house..
the contractors said it is for future development that need to be placed outside the house compound where they cn access freely..
if from front, at the porch..
then 15m from FTB to the FWS or ATB..
from FWS to ATB is just 1-2 metres of cable to the modem..
that is how the contractors make money..access of internal fibre cables..
luckly mine was only access of 6m..so took 10m, paid him rm70..

my connection no problem. your connection got problem, i'm not saying you are imagining the problem.
From what you describe, maxis also being incompetent and not getting back on the solution to you as soon as possible.

So, i'm interested to know the detail of the problem, that's why i'm asking you what other error messages you are facing. This is a technical forum, so we discuss on the problem and probably can suggest some solution. If sendiri can solve the problem, at least you don't need to wait for the helpdesk idiots to get back to you right?

that's my intention. I couldn't care less about maxis reputation, I only want to get my money's worth from my service. You want that too, right?

I'm thinking technical here, the xDSL error message, I too have it, but my connection not affected. So, there's must be other error message that I don't have but you have it. That unique error message could indicate what's the problem in your connection and maybe can fix sendiri instead of waiting for the stupid maxis to get back to you on a solution.

I do give hell to Maxis if my router is a problem, I don't want to buy another router to fix the problem. Why should I spend more money to fix a problem that supposedly the responsibility of Maxis? That's why I didn't suggest to replace the router first unless last resort.
*
gogetter83 is right..this is a forum to discuss, not to rage n curse for the problem that not everybody is facing..
if you wanna do that, take it to the maxis..we here are trying to help each other out on issues that we know n can tackle it down..
u cn be an IDIOT on ur own way..some forumner here is good at technical issues, or maybe an IT expert..
their help n suggestions are very helpful..
when somebody try to help you, you accept..pass or fail is it the other story..
some methods might work to some people, but some might not..
in this situation now, every inputs, ideas is very helpful in order to rectify these problems..
if u think u are good enough, then dont mess around here!! vmad.gif

depends on the available slot and coverage in your area, my case from register to installation take 2weeks, because i postponed 1 weeks, it should be 1 week. and i register on maxis website, just don't register at maxis partner center, it will take more longer time to process, my friend register at maxis partner center(early than me 1 weeks), but the installation arrange at august!! my installation just finished at last month(21th june 2012).
*
because i called past midnite..the technician ald sleeping..
so need to wait after i finish work around 7..
the time taken actually takes abt 10mins..
a simple reset at maxis site, n switch off both devices for 15secs..
n reboot..
since it happened between thurs & friday..need to wait after working hours..
if not sure fast 1

Damn, i thought maxis automatically alloted the free 150 minutes to my maxis mobile already.
As the matter of fact, no free minutes alloted to my maxis mobile account yet. I need to call them, ask them and the CS replied " i need to check with the Home department first".
*
if like that i also need to call maxis la..
150mins is a lot of savings!

QUOTE(kamkuey @ Jul 12 2012, 01:27 PM)
Just completed my Maxis Home earlier this week. Earlier... late last month.. was the first installation. The contractors came and laid the fibre cable and everything, but had trouble getting connection. After a 3 hour wait, they called it a day and left. Earlier this week, second attempt, everything went well, took slightly less than an hour to kao tim everything. Everything OK now.

Only thing now is the 150 minutes free on my maxis mobile.

My question is, how will it jive with my existing Value Internet package which currently includes 100 minutes free calls to any number (any network within malaysia).

Do I have to completely exhaust my existing mobile package's 100 minutes first then only the 150 free minutes to maxis mobile kicks in?

Any ideas? I know I can call up maxis callcentre, but I would like to get some background information first, especially from you real world applications from you guys smile.gif
*
called..the CS double check with home dept n said activated the moment VOIP activated..
pro-rated of coz for 1st month..
so at ur mobile bill, just check UNDER DISCOUNTS section..

The xDSL linestate down thingy had occured a few times during a month period. Most of the time it only takes 5 minutes to reconnect back to the internet but there is 1 time it was down for atleast a day and i got fed up so I decided to gave a call to Maxis. They say it is common issue and their solution to the problem is restart your TM modem and Thomson router.

Just simple restarting your modem and router will do.

Turn on your TM modem and wait about 5 seconds until all the lights on. After you see all the lights are up on your TM  modem, turn on your Thomson router and wait for all the lights to on. The Thomson router takes about 10 minutes to get everything up.

I use this method everything the xDSL linestate down appears and it worked.
*
same method used here..
but so far ok la..
i dont really bother abt the line stated down otr something..
if at the eInternet is DISCONNECTED, then i will be pissed off vmad.gif
