nice work thumbup.gif
some of the reason just makes me laughing out loud
maxis iptv dun have free channel like tv1,tv2,tv3?
not that i want to watch but at lease can get digital picture quality on my lcd tv so my mum can watch news with it laugh.gif

a different vlan has been assign for iptv so it's dedicated bandwitdh and btw they also have dedicated bandwitdh for setting public wifi with your router put this in also nod.gif
*
You are behaving as if you are more knowledgeable than rest of us and to laugh at any one who post a comment according to his opinion but not agreeable to you doh.gif

Unfortunetely, I think you are making a fool of yourself by assuming the yet to be launched maxis optional add on iptv service is absolute free service. How naive doh.gif doh.gif

We all know that unifi currently giving free iptv set top box and free dedicated 8mbps iptv line with some live and interactive channels for all new unifi installation. Maxis announced recently that it's iptv service is an optional add on.

More about IPTV
>HyppTV have more Channel
Note: Maxis hv 14 content provider mostly SE Asia Boardcasting company, not US/Euro/EastAsia
>HyppTV now charge RM1/Channel, Note: Actual price is RM3 if not mistaken
Note: Minimal RM30 for 30 channels (Newspaper didnt mention this! Not too sure how it works)
>Free Channel RTM1,2,TV3,NTV7,8TV,TV9,TVi - Tie (both is free)

Good, at least your reply is constructive.
When one post some negative comments on a subject matter in a good manner, please have the courtesy to accept the comments and discuss or argue constructively. Don't just bash negative comments and behave like a maxis fanboy.
Negative comments is not a hostile comments.
Im Rm118 MHF subscriber, the lower monthly fee and higher free minutes to maxis mobile compensates the intermittent line disconnection and lack of iptv but for those who sign up at rm138 ( yet to instal) with lesser free minutes, it is worth taking a look at unifi VIP 5 package.

i saying lol because of you are trying so hard to give reasoning
am i really acting more knowledgeable i din even state out my doubt .. i just find it funny because i sign up such an stupid deal... so i guess i am naive ...
why am i a fool to assume that iptv to have free channel..
maxis iptv can still follows unifi's module right? free channel with option of additional channel
*
There you go again, it is absolutely unnecessary to lol at others who comments here as if you are smarter then the rest. doh.gif

Free to air (FTA) channels and separate iptv vlan are just contents and features. Maxis iptv service is optional add on where subscriber probably need to pay a basic monthly commitment fee in order to have the STB installed and iptv vlan activated before FTA channel can be watched by the subscriber.

Therefore my reasoning on iptv was that unifi provides absolute free iptv service with basic FTA and interactive channels whereas maxis is not even promising a free STB and a free dedicated iptv line to start off with the FTA.

for your information i never bash on your comment at all...
I thank for you effort of putting up 10 reasons on how the service sucks
but if you really want to do it please do a good job on providing strong reason and not just post of info that might misleading other people
I seriously hate person that likes to calling people name
it's not a good manner at all

Next time don't laugh at others if their comments are not agreeable to you. Be like lucaswjk and give constructive arguments.
BTW, I never call you name. It was just your style of reply to my post which portrayed yourself as know it all and you get my retaliation.

And yes, old habit die hard, you are at your own self again, what other people said are all misleading.
The 10 reasons is merely my persona opinions. Just take it or ignore it. If you think my reasons are misleading, please argue it constructively.

Sorry guys, I was forced to OT abit. sweat.gif

I might be wrong but I'm quite sure I read somewhere else (or heard it over the news) that it's going to be an add-on option. According to the link you posted there, it just means FTA (free to air) channels are included into the package, not that they're going to give us that for free.

same like astro saying 'we include fta channels into our family package, but you've still got to pay for our package'  smile.gif
*
I too read somewhere that iptv is add on option and subscriber need to pay for a minimum monthly commitment before maxis instal the STB and activate the iptv line. AFTER we pay for the iptv service, only then we can enjoy the FTA channels. Unlike unifi, it gave free STB and iptv line with basic channels right from the initial installation.

Hi all, any recommendation for wireless adapter for connection to this maxis fiber home? My room signal is a bit weak, actually.
'
Is there any specification for the adapter to function well for connection? Like "High gain"?

Mind to share what type of wireless adapter are you guy using?

Thanks in advance.
*
There are few ways to go around it. The easiest are, If your wifi devices are window pc or laptop, just use those china made high gain wificity USB adapters with long antennal. For your iOS or android mobile devices, install a wifi router and set it to bridge mode of repeater mode and place it at weak signal area. If your wifi router signal can cover the whole house, just set it to AP mode and connect LAN to LAN with the Thomson router.

For RM138 per month, MHF is only RM11 cheaper then Unifi VIP5, My suggestion is you go for Unifi VIP5 for true triple play ie phone, internet and TV. Unifi provides you TV set top box + 8mbps dedicated iptv line + some basic and interactive channels without optional subscription fee.

As for MHF internet user's experience, please read this read from post #1, mostly unfavorable.
I'm MHF 10mbps user and I've compare MHF with my neighbor's Unifi VIP 5Mbps, needless to say Unifi 5Mbps offers more stable and better internet experience.
With the 30+ free TV live channels and 18 interactive applications such as like Youtube and Facebook, my neighbor plan to ditch Astro and save even more.

As for me, I'm still facing the usual MHF erratic performances. Sometimes good but sometimes bad. Pages not loading is still unsolved. But fortunately for me, the shortcomings of MHF is compensated by cheaper RM118 early bird subscription fee and extra free call minutes to Maxis lines.

480p no hickups.

720p hickups once every 10-15 seconds or so. Didn't bother to try 1080p.
*
Same here, 720p hiccups on PC with USB WiFi adapter.
But can stream 1080p Olympic channel on TV without buffering at all with LAN connection to Thomson using built-in YouTube app in the media player.
Strangely, iPad can stream Olympic channel smoothly with crystal clear video quality over WiFi connection.

Maxis FTTH users,

Just a quick question, does the RM138/10Mbps package comes with any IPTV package?

If no, will there be any in near future?  Need to pay extra or will include in the original RM138 package?
*
I seriously doubt maxis is generous enough to absorb the cost of installation and STB for all MHF customers. Very likely, only those subscribed a minimum contract period will get the free STB + installation. (similar to that of Astro subscription.) or out right purchase of STB and pay for installation to enjoy the basic FTA channels.
Above are my guess only.

I believe most of the problems faced by MHF users are related to the lousy Thomson router. If we can convince Maxis to change or maybe come up with a firmware update for it that can solve these hiccups... it would bring a whole lotta good i tell you...
*
danieltay reported that Thomson engineer came to his house to troubleshot the problem and found that the cause of page not loading is probably due to Maxis server. As for the weak and undetected Wifi signal, these are definitely Thomson's problem. So, there are 2 causes made up for unpleasant internet experience in Maxis Home Fiber.

Gee...!! If it is true, then it will open up an opportunity for the customers to cancel the service without paying the penalty and arbitrate their non payment with SKMM based on Maxis misleading "short" unlimited quota advertisement. I personally think that SKMM will side the consumers.

But, let's just wait till 10 Aug. I doubt Maxis will implement quota so unreasonably early.

hey guys, is it worth to change from unifi to maxis?
*
The difference is only RM11 or RM1 (non maxis mobile customer) compare to Unifi VIP5 and faster speed for local servers only. Overseas servers sama sama saja.
If 10mbps local server's speed is not your priority, than I think you get better value in Unify VIP5 with FREE IPTV set top box + Installation + 8mbps dedicated unlimited IPTV line.

I personally think that Maxis will implement quota limit earlier than TM Unify.

i think there are other things that is missed out in the consideration

Maxis offer free minutes for oversea calls (10 countries) + maxis mobile no + now 1800 also free already + local calls fix line calls only 5 sen/min

although TM offers free fix line calls, not sure if it will be used heavily

anyway, it really depends on the users needs (for me, maxis ftw cuz i really like their overseas call minutes. help me save cost in my biz  rclxms.gif )
*
I didn't mention about the free minutes because the current RM138/RM148 package is no longer attractive as compare to the RM118 package. The free minutes was reduced to mere 100min from 600min previously and so is free minutes on Maxis mobile.

So I regarded free minutes in Maxis and unlimited TM fixed line call as equal value.

Breaking news from my Maxis higher management friend as below,

After exceed quota, you will have 2 choices from Maxis :
a) Speed reduced to 512kb, lower then TMUT 1 Mbps
b) Speed remain 10Mbps, but pay as you use with credit limit set

I am calling Maxis cs now to terminate the line. Dont expect they will reply anymore because this is the FACT

Thank you

Those who still have more than 3 Days to installation should play safe and defer the installation to later date before deciding to proceed or cancel without string attachment.

My installtion suppose to be tomorrow but I received a call from maxis cs just now, also telling me the tm guy will come to do the cabling 1st.
When modem got stock the maxis technician will come and install the modem.
I think not the tm modem stock outage is the thomson router, because i ask the maxis cs the tm guy will come together next round? he said no only maxis technician.
As i know u need the tm guy to configure tm modem then only the maxis technician can configure the router.
So I tell the maxis cs, i want postpone the installation.
I want all settle in 1 day. If according to their plan, then tm guy not here the 2nd round, what if the fiber cabling has problem? need to reschedule another day wait the tm guy to come and check? so i need to take another day off for that??? no way loh... I rather wait longer than take more leave.
*
Maxis behaved as if customers are so desperate and are so willingly to accept whatever installation arrangement at Maxis's convenience and advantage.

@Danieltay
Thought there was improvement of page not loading issue, the intermittent disconnection still rampant. Need to disconnect and reconnect eInternet whenever it happens. mad.gif During intermittent disconnection, web pages not loading, youtube keep buffering forever and will not auto resume play even the connection was back to normal. surprisingly dect phone still have dial tone and I managed to do a test call during intermittent disconnection.
If Voip ok, why internet not ok ? I suspect the ID problem originated from Maxis core internet server.

3) what is "Paging Call" ? I received call displayed on lcd as "Paging Call" continuously for 4 times but line cut off when answer button pressed.
