I'm also using those USB fan to cool both TM's BTU (Huawei) + Thomson Gateway... The fan really does cool bothe devices effectively....
The TM BTU is much much hotter compared to the Thomson Gateway.
Both units standing vertically to have better airflow :-)

I get this for ping test to Google.com

The traceroute to any servers need to go thru many 58.71.xx.xx hops... are these Maxis servers ?

When I try to ping 192.168.1.253, I notice it's alive (i.e. Reply received)
Non of my devices uses that IP address....

If you do a continuous ping to 58.71.244.1, do you get a few timeout in between ? This hop (58.71.244.1) is the hop after my Thomson TG784 under traceroute.

The Thomson TG784n has settings for Huawei E1762, Huawei E220, ZTE MF110 under the mInternet option.

I saw this particular IP as part of manually added lease in the DHCP setting under user.ini
