Winter Soldier is alot better IMO just because the way fights was choreograph and how the movie made me on the edge of my seat everytime WS appear.

Still GOTG is as good or justtttt a tad below Avengers overall.

Pretty much on par, though I do find GOTG humor to be alot better than Avengers.

I'm on the minority here. Felt the movie rough around the edges on story and directing. You can't fault the cg eye candy fest somehow the acting and dialogues induce a fair bit of cringeworthy moments here and there. To be fair Groot and Rocket stole the whole movie while Chriss Pratt and Zoe Saldana were ok,I guess. The weakest link of all is Batiusta,he need to brush up his acting chops and can't really get behind his motivation.
Again with every Marvel movie, the villain always gets the short end of the stick.Their threat to protagonist/s always comes off empty and always end with deux ex machina ending.Man the first half of the movie was full of expository scenes that can be dull to watch.A silly fun watch but not too profound.
What's up with the overhyped Benicio Del Toro cameo, who again act as an "exposition" character who does not really expand the story. hmm.gif
Overall in tone GOTG felt a lot like Fifth Element to me.

This was a very middle-of-the-road James Gunn movie. Loved the humour but the rest of the script and story beats were incredibly cliched. Some of the editing in action scenes was messy to the point of being distracting, so I wasn't as engaged as I could have been.

Otherwise the movie was very decent fun, and Chris Pratt is a star in the making. Bring your popcorn. If you enjoy James Gunn movies, then this is definitely a hell of a James Gunn movie and almost up there with Slither and Super.

For what it's worth the movie still rates in the top 5 for me among the MCU movie, the list being CA:TWS, IM, IM3, TA, and GotG. Could've been so much better though.

Well, as far that I read the REVIEWS in this thread, everyone enjoyed this movie so much.
I've just watched this movie just now at GSC Setia City Mall, I'm not LAUGHING at all in this movie. I don't know why, the funny scene in this movie doesn't attract me to laugh. yawn.gif

The action scene is like MEHHH, too common, I've seen this kind of actions in other movies. And also I felt that they Overuse the songs in this movie

But still, this movie is still okay and interesting. I gave 3/5 smile.gif

Still Captain America : Winter Soldiers is the best Marvel movie for me this year

Watched it in IMAX 3D. As expected the 3D isn't anything to shout about. A little pop out here and there and you won't miss much if you skip 3D and just watch 2D in a normal hall.
But the big screen, as always, is totally worth it.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Soars to Biggest Thursday Box Office Opening of the Year

Who needs Iron Man?

Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” got off to a rousing start on Thursday, rocketing to $11.2 million in late night preview screenings. That’s the biggest pre-opening total of the year, besting another Marvel title, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s” $10.2 million start in April. Roughly $1.9 million of “Guardian’s” initial haul came from Imax screenings.

Despite lacking a top-shelf superhero in the form of Captain America or Thor, the comic book adaptation is on track for the biggest August opening in history, topping “The Bourne Ultimatum’s” $69.3 million bow. It is expected to premiere to north of $75 million, but could soar even higher given that “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” debuted to $95 million this spring and this film is hitting loftier numbers.

The film is a record-breaker in another sense. It will have the widest August opening in history when it expands to 4,080 theaters on Friday, nearly 3,200 of which are in 3D, carrying with them surcharges. Overseas, the film will debut in 42 international territories including the United Kingdom, Russia, Brazil, Mexico and South Korea. The picture carries an $170 million production budget.

Overseas, the film is off to a strong start, racking up $2.3 million in the United Kingdom and Ireland, nabbing $3.5 million in Russia, and generating $1.6 million across several South and Central American countries such as Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay.

James Gunn, a habitué of the indie and horror worlds through such films as “Super” and “Slither,” directs the film about a rag-tag group of space cowboys. Chris Pratt, best known for his comedic turn in “Parks & Recreation,” should enjoy a nice career bounce for his work as the Han Solo-esque, Star Lord. The picture’s mix of laughs and spectacle has been hailed by critics — it currently enjoys a 91% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The weekend’s other wide release, Universal Pictures’ James Brown biopic, “Get on Up,” grossed an estimated $371,000 when it screened Thursday in 1,769 locations. It is expected to make between $12 million to $14 million when it expands to 2,466 theaters on Friday.

The Guardians and the “Godfather of Soul” will find a summer box office that has been decimated by too many blockbusters that weren’t. Domestically, ticket receipts are down 20% from last year. Exhibitors are clearly holding out for a hero, to paraphrase the great Bonnie Tyler. It looks like one just arrived in the form of a wise-cracking raccoon and a talking tree.

GSC is now offering D-Box for this movie. D-Box is like a motion master seats. Have anyone tried it yet? Really tempted to try it out but RM32 a ticket...

Captain America Winter Soldier is probably the most violent Marvel movie to date. This one has the most foul languages (jackass, d***, what the fuu, showing the middle finger, etc). I'm not complaining though. Just surprised that Marvel has upped the tempo a bit.
