hi guys, don't mean to crash the thread but i just had a look on both civic and elantra during lunch since my girl is opting for a new car. in my honest opinion, for that amount of money, elantra wins in terms of value for money but quality and refinement, i have to hand it to honda. despite the 'ugly' interior pictures that we see everywhere, the moment you sit inside the civic, it feels 'right' and in fact, more comfortable. then again, the 1.8 has nothing so i guess the only thing to consider here is affordability smile.gif my girl is actually picking between the 1.8 elantra and civic hybrid.

If I am you I will buy my girl a Polo TSI. Just a thought. Easier for her to park. Smaller car suitable for girl. Amazing fuel consumption. And best of all it's German smile.gif

too small for her. my girl is kinda tall, 175 cm. golf would be a lil over the budget for her and im not planning to chip in for her tongue.gif . i have 2 volks at home and they are too 'service centre' friendly, if you get what i mean.

Will it void the warranty if like that? You bring your own oil?
*
If you use good quality engine oil rather than the shell they are giving it's in fact protect your engine better and thus you don't even need to worry about it voiding your warranty.

What I mean is, do they allow us to go every 10k instead of every 5k. Like some car manufacturer, you must follow strictly their service schedule. Everytime you go for a service they will stamp on the service booklet or something. Once you missed a service, they will void the warranty. sweat.gif

If they allow us to go every 10k with full synthetic oil without voiding our car warranty, that's really a good news!!

LOL too paranoid la bro. 10k is the standard for servicing now.
I think you cannot drive VW cars, will flip out. 15,000k service once, 45,000km only service 3 times. tongue.gif

Probably.. tongue.gif
Gotta re-tune my thinking a bit too haha

Hehe i get what you mean.

For me, Civic is definitely out. If I'm willing to spend around RM119k for Civic Hybrid, I will go for the latest Ford Focus 2.0. Either that or Elantra smile.gif My 2cents.

u r right bro. cause according to the service manual they recommended GF3 but recommended Shell Helix which doesn't even qualify for that. so u can talk with the SC if u bring in something higher spec than the recommended one. they can't actually say will void the warranty smile.gif

I wish you are right. But I asked around 3 SC in JB, none of them allow to bring own oil even if it's way better quality.
I don't mind using Shell, but one of the reason why we are getting lower gas mileage is because they are using 10W40 rather than 5W30 which our car (in fact all new cars) prefer. Can we do a petition to Hyundai?

BTW, when is my request for the FB close group approve? I sent the request few weeks back, and again yesterday. No sound no air one ... Can help me check check?

drool.gif 2012 Honda Civic vs. 2012 Hyundai Elantra

In terms of the sedans, it is pretty obvious that the Elantra has the more head-turning design. It's sloped corners and rounded exterior help distinguish it from the pack as one of the more attractive vehicles in the compact market. The Honda Civic, on the other hand, takes a more reserved approach. While not as attention seeking, the Civic certainly delivers a handsome, and well-put-together design.

Inside, the Honda Civic offers 11.7 cubic feet of storage space. The Elantra bests this figure with 14.8 cubic feet of storage. icon_rolleyes.gif
