drool.gif 2012 Honda Civic vs. 2012 Hyundai Elantra

In terms of the sedans, it is pretty obvious that the Elantra has the more head-turning design. It's sloped corners and rounded exterior help distinguish it from the pack as one of the more attractive vehicles in the compact market. The Honda Civic, on the other hand, takes a more reserved approach. While not as attention seeking, the Civic certainly delivers a handsome, and well-put-together design.

Inside, the Honda Civic offers 11.7 cubic feet of storage space. The Elantra bests this figure with 14.8 cubic feet of storage. icon_rolleyes.gif

Then I think not much diff  sweat.gif cause the insurance itself is already 2K plus if not mistaken.
Not the difference between a new car 96,888 and this is just 2.5K smile.gif
*
drool.gif Agree..not much diffrent compare to RM888 discount from OTR Price RM96,888 icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi all, found that my coolant level is already at near low, remember from factory is around 3/4 to "F" full. The car milleage only around 1400km. Is this considered normal usage or there is some sort of leakage?
*
drool.gif I think it's normal..because mine also like that..u just fill full with mineral water to the max, then it wont drops anymore. icon_rolleyes.gif

Seems like you guys also experience coolant level become lower and need to refill with water ? Maybe I give my SC a call tomorrow to confirm if it is "normal", just to be cautious as still under warranty period.

I used SC shell helix semi, since 5k need to do service again. It is wasteful to use fully. But I feel the engine oil is not good, 10W40 is a bit heavy, feel the throttle a bit sluggish before change. Plan to use own oil, still surveying which brand is good.
*

Oh, by the way, owner manual is recommending 5W-20 or 5W-30. Don't know why SC recommend shell oil as their semi (hx7) is 10W-40 and fully (helix ultra) is 5W-40. Both is "thicker" than recommended SAE which may cause higher fuel consumption.

Will bring my own oil at 5K service I guess, I know some owners have done so..  smile.gif
*
drool.gif Yeah..that's why mine use Helix X7 10W40 for the 1st service..but then SC said that we can bring our own oil for the next service but SC will charges extra RM5..thats why for the 5000km service i'll try magnatec 5w30 (semi) as recomended in manual icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm going for my 5000 service this week. Gonna use Petrol-Canada 5W-30.
What is written in the manual actually had been "changed" to suit/complies to Shell Helix.
As I mentioned in earlier post, Shell don't even fulfill to API standard needless to say GF.

But then again they are considered Group3 because they managed to slip pass the minimum requirement for the VI standard. Not many local manufacturers complies to this API standard actually. Cause they just did a in-house test and claim that their fuel is good. But what's the point if they don't have a 3rd party international certification to prove it.

Anyway, your move of bringing your own oil is right bro.  thumbup.gif  Which SC you go to?

Try to scout around for better engine oil bro ^^

So how's ur ride so far? Any complain?
*
drool.gif So enjoy my ride..esp having a good FC avg 6.8-7.0 with avg speed 54km/h and u can get till 580km easily for full tank, aircond so cool, NVH so quiet, roomy inside..so proud bro..speeding and connering not bad at all..anyway to me suspension is less better compare to my old persona and waja.. btw my first complain is there is small2 cracks (so minor) in inner side rear lamp which attached to the trunk ..and Chin Car replace my new tail lamp just in a week time after i'm complained..so fast bro icon_rolleyes.gif

Where to buy this? Seems good.
I have called my SC, the technician said for a low mileage (1400km), the coolant drop to low is abnormal and told me to take the car back to SC to check. Sian... blush.gif
*
o
drool.gif My theory for the new car is there are some bubbles or vacum inside hose and radiator for the cooling system..that's why while engine getting hotter..the moving collant will fill the vacum one..so some drops will happen..once u fill some water to he max level, then no more drops inside the reservoir..just my theory because mine one no more drops icon_rolleyes.gif

Wow~ seemed like u really enjoyed the ride bro  rclxms.gif
Ya, as mentioned by devil666 both my rear tail light also got bubbles inside so claim from SC.
Got it last week. Waited for almost a month but no major issue  biggrin.gif
*
drool.gif To bro stevenycs and devil666..please let me know..is the rear tail light (the outer side/the long one) also got the bubbles/small2 cracks (minor) to ur elantra?..because mine only complained the light which attached to the trunk only..and a week after the SC snaps some photo..the SC ask me to replace. I'm asking because also detected very minor hairy cracks at 2 or 3 points on the rear long lamp. icon_rolleyes.gif
