Ford Titanium 2.0L & Ford Sport 2.0L (without +) are cheaper than HE1.8. Worth to switch?
*
Depends. If ur priority is driving dynamics and quietness, then switch. If it's spaciousness, definitely a no no. I dare to say interior is even smaller than a Mazda 3. I just went test drive last weekend.
Further more feature really lose out to HE comparing the 116k mode

Yes i forgot about the 3 yrs / 60,000km free service by Ford. Yes i think the price increase for the Elantra was not a good move. Plus with the long wait period, i dont think many would be buyers would be attracted.

But yes, at less than RM129K the Focus Titanium Plus is quite a bargain for a 2.0L GDI engine with such top class specs. SD did well to price it such. Now they need to improve their afer sales.
*
Yup test drove focus very good driving dynamics and sound insulation. I just can covet without auto cruise for 116k car and so small size interior. Airbags really good offering.

I did 2 test runs on the new Focus Titanium (sedan) over the weekend. I must say the handling is really good. Very confident going into corners and well planted. Ford really did a good job here. But the rear legroom is a bit of a letdown for a 2.0L car. I also noticed that there is a delay before the engine kicks in when you floor the pedal. But power is good and low rev torque is more than adequate. Doors feel solid and interior quality is top notch. Dashboard and side door panels are much better than the Civic & Elantra. The Sony sound system is quite good too.

So for RM 128,888 (OTR) for the Titanium + Sedan with the specs on offer, its quite a good buy.
*
Good writeup. Exactly my experience except the side door panel. Material used top notch, but assembly quality suffered. Already rattling heard on the test unit I was on. Already lost confidence with cbu Thai since my ex car

car value dont matter much to me.. and seriously, my wife will be driving around the car... i normally travel around too much on plane.. so 2012 and 2013 dont really make a big difference..

plus.. thinking about selling the care before you even buy it is just not a very good point..

no offence though.. my car arriving earlier than expected... can pick up next week..

i asked the SA to suprise me with the color..

Im sure u know that the best investors are those who plan ahead. Sooner or later ure gonna sell. No harm in considering all aspects before purchase. But in your case, ure getting the car in Sept which is still ok.

Loss in resale value can be compensated by quality of life which is determined by the Elantra?  rclxub.gif

Well spoken by someone who earlier said that as long as the registration is dated 2013 then its fine.  laugh.gif

Pls don't talk about resale value in this thread. I'm Malaysia, only talk about resale value in T & H thread, if u don't mind their car getting uglier and more boring.

Those who bought vw, Peugeot, ford, Hyundai etc. We prefer to buy them and enjoy wat we like, not wat others like to offer many yrs done the road.

What good things come to you? What I got was price increased. And I asked SA any new things added, the answer is NO just because of high demand they increased the price.
Share with me what you get hmm.gif

For those still in doubt
Watch "Hyundai Elantra vs Volkswagen Jetta" on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPH7A1ml8iI...be_gdata_player

If u still wait for new new ap. Then u will never buy a car. We all know wat happened to the promises and the outcome of the previous new AP...

oK.. Let put the NAP or cut tax away.

Problem is should i wait for 2013 with higher price OR
jus take the 2012 cheaper price which u will get the car in mid of Nov or early of Dec....

Wat u guys think if having this situation?  rclxub.gif
*
If u have already booked either thru lower price. Don't let go. With thru turtle output, I foresee u will just get car in 2013 wink.gif
Even if u get in 2012, the 2/3k difference I'd already equivalentto 1 yr depreciate value, considering Hyundai car lower 2nd hand value

Option 1
Old price RM111,888, Dealer give discount RM3,200. (RM111,888 - RM3,200 = RM108,688) But the car under
2012 manufacturer.
Option 2
New price 114,888, Dealer give discount RM1,000. (RM114,888 - RM1,000 = RM113,888) But car under
2013 manufacturer.

Both also 1.8 & I book in July (refer to option 1)
Should i cancel option 1 & get option 2 bcoz of the year manufacturer?
But the price will be higher (RM113,888) if want 2013 manufacturer by referring the above  rclxub.gif
*
Sure get it cheap. If u sell irritating after 6 yrs. Each year depreciate 3k. End up the same. Remember by then the sell rate is based on the increased price value

Did u check with other dealers to see what discount u can get for a 2013 model? But on hindsight, no dealer will give u good discounts now for 2013 models. Too early in the cycle. biggrin.gif

But i think ull get more discounts if ure prepared to wait for the Elantra's competitor to arrive which is the 2013 Kia Forte K3. That is if ure not in a hurry to get a car. There would be more product launches in 2013 hence more competition for the Elantra.

Car resale values usually drop about 5-6% every year. So if ure getting a 5K discount for a 2012 model, that 'advantage' is lost by Jan 2013. So by then, ure back to even.

Hence, if i were you and i didnt have any urgency to change, i would wait for 2013. The discounts will improve as the Civic sales are improving day by day.

Wat competitor? Hyundai owns Kia. Tat is why u see both their models so sexy

That is the reason why I bought the car in the first place, the remote is always in my pocket. I just need to press the button on the door handle to unlock the door. No need to press the remote.

Yes it's also smart enough to give warning and won't lock if u accidentally leave the key inside the car. I have tested if u leave it in the bag in the boot, the doors in front also won't lock.
They don't call it smart entry without reason...

Just tested. If u locked the doors, then forgot ur key is in the bag and put the bag in the boot to lock it, car will also beep. U can still open the boot even though ur key in the boot.
Smart !

All cars equipped with a smart key operate in the same manner. If the key is anywhere in the car, the locking mechanism wont work. Simple.

Added on October 6, 2012, 10:54 pm

Like i said earlier, if u ask any car manufacturer now when their 2013 models will arrive, they will say March/April to push ppl to buy 2012 models. But ask them the same ques in Jan, they will say can get Feb. Same cycle of words repeated every year. Typical.

U dont need to cancel your booking. U can keep your booking but specify that u want a 2013 model. But keep checking with other dealers and when the time comes go for the one that gives you the best discount. Simple.

Ohhh didn't know. Was driving T&H previously no luxury to own this feature even though priced higher. Thanks for the info!

Consider very high FC. Abit upset because with new engine design, the FC still cannot compare to CIVIC or ALTIS for city drive. How much you can get (for city driving) after 1K Service maintenance? Anyone can share?

And what is the FC for city drive after 5K and above? Hope the user can share with me.
*
Mine 1.8. In city can reach 420km. Highway average 7L/100km. Mostly driving 115kmh
The tank is definitely smaller than my previous altis. FC the same to me

I have done 5k and 2nd service. Just pumped full tank, used 2 bars, computer showing 8L/100km with average speed 35kmh, Penang full city drive. It is still too early to tell but I believe there is some improvement.

I think our elantra is comparable to Civic 8th gen which average 10L/100km in Penang city drive. 9th gen maybe improve abit. However, it is true that Altis DVVTI + cvt is above all.
*
I can also tell u cbu alts from Thai build quality is also above all. Rattle every where after 1 month driving. I know coz it's my ex car
