OMG... Both of them did so well in the water damage test. I don't expect them to survive. Even though sound on iPad is gone. Nexus 7 is really pretty darn amazing drool.gif That means the nexus 7, dropped anywhere (i think except glass faced down) and some water spill is fine. But I wondered. Why water got into USB Port/Headphone jack won't kill the device straight away.

wow, impressive price for a piece of tablet.

but still couldn't justify the purpose of purchasing it
*
Yea drool.gif Gaming, Browsing on WiFi, Movie, Ebooks. Enough reason for you to get it at 199USD wub.gif

Yes, definitely we will be bringing in Nexus 7 due to high demand from our fans.

For availability date, specs and selling price, please stay tune for more information.

Thank you.

Seriously... I always think dual core is more than enough. But then quad core came out and I do feel the limitation of dual core. So quad core is very fine.
Quad core Tegra 3, Exynos Quad or even dual core S4 chipset like MSM8260A and MSM8960 are already very capable.
FYI and IMO, 8 core won't be coming out. Next stage will be dual core. But much powerful dual core.
Dual Cortex A15. A big leap from currently popular A9.

No... You can refer wikipedia for TI OMAP or Nova Thor.
Next generation OMAP 5
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OMAP#OMAP_5
Next generation Nova Thor
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NovaThor
Next generation Exynos 5 series
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exynos

All these upcoming chipsets are dual core. You don't need to predict. They've announced it. Just never implemented yet.

good to hear about the decision in improving dual core instead of increasing the cores.
*
laugh.gif A15 should be insanely fast.
http://www.androidauthority.com/arm-a9-vs-arm-a15-87559/
QUOTE
If we go after DMIPS/Mhz, which might not be the best representation of performance,  then Cortex A9 has 2.5 DMIPS/Mhz, while Cortex A15 has 3.5 DMIPS/Mhz, and some manufacturers are even promising 4.0 DMIPS/Mhz. So, the performance per clock compared to Cortex A9 should be 40%-60% higher, all things being equal. This is a huge improvement in efficiency.

QUOTE
if a dual core 2 GHz Cortex A15 is 2X faster than a dual core 1.5 GHz  Cortex A9, we can still assume around 30% faster performance than today’s quad core processors for multi-threaded apps, even though it’s a dual core processor.

htc one xl > htc one x.

im in love with dual core krait but not available for gsm version.
*
nod.gif Krait is seriously a performer. Heat dissipation is also good in krait chipsets. Youtube for Butter Benchmark. Damn awesome to see that. It wins Exynos Quad and Tegra 3 in quite few aspects.

QUOTE(vin39 @ Jul 24 2012, 07:39 AM)
hopefully it rolls out soon here.i just wna get a goddamn tablet lol.dnt mind the 8gb though.got memory card slot?
*
Google never wanted a memory card slot to mess thing up. No memory card slot in all nexus-es

QUOTE(Laine @ Jul 24 2012, 09:10 AM)
so many sources flying around  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif

my take on this is, they wont bring this in until they "open up" the entire play store in malaysia.
*
laugh.gif They will bring in. Else how do you get Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus locally?

But Nexus 7 is a different case as the manufacturer is ASUS.
Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus is from Samsung.
Hopefully ASUS Malaysia will release it soon but not sure whether the is Google doing all the sale instead of ASUS.
*
Confirm will be Asus doing the sales. Google no HQ in malaysia. And I believe they won't open up Play Store for Malaysia that soon.

Whoa!! accelerometer seems like a big issue to me? O_O

Now I need to add that to my checklist of stuff to check when my Nex7 arrives tomorrow evening;

1. Screen lifting
2. Light leaking
3. Loose micro-USB
4. Dead pixels
5. Flickering under auto-dim mode
6. The thing just dying after first charge.
7. Defective accelerometer.

Anything else?
*
So... Even if there's problem in your unit, what will you do? Most of the seller in Lowyat only provide a preorder, almost a charity bulk kind of thing. I don't think they provide warranty laugh.gif

Err, dude. I have one and paid RM700 for it because it's supposedly defective. Tested it and yeah, the accelerometer is jittery but it's not a dealbreaker for me.

Gamer might complain though LOL.
*
Wow. That's awesome! Since it's faulty, sell me at 650 brows.gif brows.gif Accelerometer I take to fix at Asus. Not a hard thing to be fixed anyway. Nexus 7 has a pretty high 'repairability' score by ifixit. Maybe the cost is just few bucks for Asus. Then charge us labour max 100? nod.gif You sure untung.

QUOTE(G-17 @ Jul 24 2012, 11:46 PM)
I ordered mine via the Australian Play store, and it shipped to my home in Aus a couple of days ago. A friend is currently over there, so I got her to bring it back when she returns tomorrow evening.

Australian orders are shipped from Google Southeast Asia HQ Singapore, according to the invoice/receipt. I actually live in SG, and the Google office address is around 10 - 15 minute drive from my apartment. If I find a problem, I'm gonna drive straight there and yell at them.... in Hokkien (cos it sounds nastier than English)!!
*
laugh.gif This is pretty nice. Just wonder whether they let you yell at them. Yell at them kanasai jiak sai, all kind of sai sai sai thing maybe they fix for you nod.gif

Just reached hotel and unboxed the Nexus 7. Perfect screen, no blemishes whatsoever. Came out with 50% battery charge left. Stock sticker shows it arrived Auckland on the 19th.

The box is a b**** to open and unbox. Very nice feel of the back panel. Like golf ball. Charging it back with my Galaxy Nexus charger/microUSB cable.

Already took a video but not uploading it here in Auckland since data charges here(even Wifi) is expensive plus limited with data cap.
*
laugh.gif New Zealand. You better save your data. My friend over there all said their internet is bloody expensive. But service quality is better than M'sia.

anyone know which lowyat shop have sell Nexus 7? Will walkaround there tomorrow. I still dont know want iPad3 or Nexus 7 :s
*
I guess none of them have it. 'Guess'
Most of the lowyat forum seller only take preorder.
Not really got ready stock let you buy yet.
Besides that, even Google is running low on stock.
Mind you. Even if you found one wild in lowyat plaza, it won't be from Asus Malaysia. Those are brought in from US/Other countries. And if you found one, you easily need to pay 900~1000 +++ for 8GB version

Actually... What you need to compare between ipad3 and nexus 7?
iOS vs Android
9.7" vs 7"
3G(Optional) vs WiFi-Only(No option)
Rear facing camera...
Price, comparing in USD, Nexus 7 is like 1/3 of the iPad 3's cheapest model.

Made these clear than you're clear with your choice.
