Haha.. I was just about to post about this piece of news! Now this news makes me wanna sell off my current N7... any takers?  biggrin.gif

Yeah, I might do the same. I've been lurking around to find vanilla android tablet with 3G. Sadly, I could not find the best Xoom offers so I grabbed N7.

At least I can utilize my other Sim card. It has been collecting dust for a couple of months since I lost my 3G modem.

Same as me. I can do tethering from my laptop/phone rather than wasting to invest another data plan. Besides, it wont be that cheap as asus keep mentioned they build nexus 7 with low budget. So add more features= more $$$$.

It wont be that fast to reach malaysia as currently wifi version not yet official available in malaysia.

I already have another data only plan which I originally got for my MiFi a couple of years back. So that would come in handy for a 3G tablet. Currently the SIM is taking turns between my Sammy Tab 10.1 and the MiFi.

Yes, I can do tethering from my phone, but that eats up quite a lot of the phone batt. Smartphone batt life not fantastic as it is. And yes, I also can just use my MiFi, but that means carrying another gadget around. And the MiFi batt lasts me only about 4 hours of continuous usage.

And true, 3G functionality will increase the price. But we will have to see the official price in relation to other 7 inch 3G tablets. With a quad core one, if any. I am thinking a pricing of USD300 is possible.

As for availability, it is entirely possible that Asus Malaysia may offer both wifi only and wifi + 3G versions at the same time, now that they have more time to plan the launch of the 3G version. It is possible they may delay the wifi only version launch to coincide with the 3G one in Malaysia. Or still launch the wifi only version first in Malaysia to capture as many buyers first and then launch the 3G version a month later. Who knows?

After experiencing the freedom of 3G tablets, I missed it with the N7. I hope the news/rumour comes true, and the 3G 16GB model will cost a max of USD300.

You can buy a wireless external hard disk (500Gb), solve storage limitation and can store more video + music.

its different. built in memory is the most convenient option.
2nd choice is having external sd slot.

but regardless, i still love this tablet.

by the way, i'm sick of the home screen landscape mode,
all the launchers, apex, nova threbuchet, the transition from landscape to portrait and vice versa is not seamless.

there is a very horrible lag, and widgets seems to struggle to appear after the switch. even the app tray also like tat.
ruin the whole project butter. duno why like that.

maybe android OS bug, no wonder google disable landscape mode.
i also disable it already, cant stand the lag.

This thing looks abit fake to me, but it is uber cool if its real.

basically this guy here use the empty camera slot inside the tablet,
and make it into a micro SD slot.

i dont face any lag at all when switching from landscape to portrait in home screen. Using Paranoid Android ROM, tried trebuchet and Nova launcher, both also smooth.

The 3G model would be a great addition for the brand as a whole. Alot of my frens asked if mine is 3G. A bit downer for them. For me, I'm always looking for wifi version. I just use it at home and office. And somemore almost all cafe, mamak got wifi. So its fine for me. For urgent emails and stuff, I still got my S2 for that.

Me too, nowadays wifi spots are everywhere. For urgent emails, mobile phone is still the best in terms of mobility. smile.gif

i'm a cheapskate without data plan. wifi spots are everywhere but password protected.
so that dont really works.

what really works is your friends/cousins/family,
they're everywhere, just grab their iphones/androids and turn on their hotspot, and your good to go. brows.gif tongue.gif

Ya , its nice to have 3g version later .
But the price wont be so "WOW" if they launch it before .
The nexus success can be say helped by the aggressive pricing .
