The game seems very wow like, raid and dungeon system apply as well? Well u do sound like devs to me lol, accurately answer questions and provide facts to other, kudos.

The game does like WoW system, is meant for ease of players but is a little diffrent than WoW's battle.
When both FFXI(2000) and WoW(2004) came out, they copy EQ's action bar, party dungeon raid system and so on, then make their own MMO, althought we can see clear fact that WoW wins this debate and FFXI although still successful to this date as a P2P profitable MMO.
FFXIV on the other hand when release, is piss poor lag, bug, crash and somewhat not polish/very much nothing type of MMO.
It got bad review and the review is really justified by the way FFXIV 1.0 is. Then SE announce the change in team development, Tanaka, the previous FFXIV's Producer step down, being replace by a young(not really) avid MMO player and Developer YoshiP(he is a MMO player, he play WoW, Rift, Aion, Dark Age of Camelot and so on, so he has big clear on what to do as a Developer)
During his reign, he ask us to be patient and he will come with patch fix for the 1.0, every patch at first was just to address stuff, he also goes all the way to talk to the community and ask for input and stuff, this really change how the Company use to operate. They usually do not be as open, but with YoshiP the company slightly change overall time.
When the patch 1.18 came, the game was in a playable state, combat change, party change, it really was playable then BAM he announce FFXIV: A Realm Reborn, a totally new client, new server structure and many new stuff, basicly he is saying that FFXIV 1.0 is going to the trash bin when it's time.
So He still continue on doing the 1.0 upgrade and behind the scene thney work hard on building a new client, the 2.0 (A Realm Reborn).
the 1.0 patch version goes up till 1.23 which is the final version for it at that time there is already Job System that are much specialize roles of the Holy Trinity Roles, Tank Healer, DPS.
Classses were mere basis of it and they can mix-match skills of other classes. Jobs is more of a Party Play Holy trinity as such hehe.
(i could go more but i have to end here, want to finish pack my work place to go back home)
