cyanogenmod 9 with fxp kernel. they regularly update their kernel.

which ROM did you flash? if you stuck at "sony" screen, i think you still with stock kernel. some ROM need custom kernel (for example CM9, require fxp kernel). try flash other kernel.

as far as i remember, if you update using sus, no data will be loss, unless you do factory wipe (which is i think is unnecessary, but recommended).

but, for McAfee, OfficeSuite Pro, Wisepilot and Let Golf HD!, they are included in the official ICS rom. they still there if you decide to do factory wipe. the app still there but the data are lost (e.g. save game) after you do factory wipe.

Thanks! I did backed up some apps and sms in case too...

Hmm, factory wipe + rooting should come in on my semester break. biggrin.gif

Edit: I'm at SONY screen now... It's that fast and simple!

any stock kernel will do as long it contain cwm+root.
btw, ur kernel is oem modified with cwm+root right? then, just flash the rom. no need to worry. cwm+root are in kernel. even you flash hundreds times, cwm+root still there unless you flash stock ftf.
