ya saw those RM10-15 sp 'for 808' in lowyat but it's super rainbowy and marred the clearblack feature of 808 screen. so temporarily until you can get a good one, i think its best to keep the one that came with the phone, no rainbow, easy to wipe clear and cover the entire screen.

Not really in depth, just glancing through already spotted 2 mistake:
1. It says the default is 8MP in PureView mode? I thought it was 5MP?
2. It says no quicker way to activate the camera? I guess they didn't know about you can activate the camera by pressing and holding the shutter button even when the phone is sleep mode.
*
ya agree and the completely unnecessary 14 pages spread are just slimy way to get more ads pageview.

*
KTS at 8 Jalan Goh Hock Huat, Klang 03-3341-7755 - credit card rm1799, cash rm1699 (Avaxx set). They have few white units last week, i bought the last black. Try calling them for stock and price first

kts? i read some negative reviews on their service.
any other suggestion ?
*
if you don't mind paying extra rm200, check out paradigm mall, they have new stock today or garden nokia (they have 1 white unit)...I very the cheap one, rm200 is a lot to me for gadgets and if can i prefer not to help shops pay their expensive rent LOL

i notice hoc's unit got KTS sticker at e battery compartment, I think they actually break the seal and put the stickers in? when I got mine at pavilion the box was still sealed. hmm.gif
*
the box was sealed. They will only open and put the sticker in front of you when you confirmed taking the phone..no conspiracy theory la, their 808 is identical to nokia shop one, all from avaxx.

any problems, can bring back to them at klang (which i won't obviously) or any NCC as usual for avaxx set.

speaking about buying cheap, my friend who was in the phone business so he got lots of contacts, can get me RM1650 but he said Nokia doesn't want to release stocks to regular shops yet. in the end my phone sot sot and in need of a phone so can't wait and bought one. biggrin.gif

so i'm a little surprised shops in Klang can get stocks. anyway want to travel to klang from KL, hell no... laugh.gif
*
KTS is actually quite an established nokia shop, there have few branches if you view the nokia store locator, but the main shop is in klang. but now they look more like a samsung shop than nokia coz smart samsung offers bags of cash to sapu all distribution channels everywhere. If you don't know much about 808, you might end buying a galaxy 3 going to their shop lol...Not bad looking shop though.

It took me about 30min to go there and come back from subang, parking is easy coz their shop is just next to the main road before the klang bridge.

Btw,i'm sharing this info not to make those who bought at RRP regret or that i got commission from KTS, solely for those who want to buy the phone at a slightly cheaper price.

actually i would have go to buy if it's slightly nearer. after all it's not "slightly" cheaper, RM200 it quite a lot cheaper i'd say. biggrin.gif
*
but honestly even at rm1899, the phone is really worth it for those who 'know about' and 'wanted' the phone.

this good protective condom is made from TPU (the only case material i trust). has already saved my 808 from several 'deadly' falls nod.gif

unless there is another nokia roadshow, otherwise it's twice the price now at rm120 or rm100 (cash) at Endless Concept Digital Mall PJ

this may sounds weird but for my case, knowing well my type of frens, family and relatives i will NEVER recommend 808 to them. I'm 1000% sure that i'll either ended up being their official 24/7 symbian customer support personnel or being cursed for recommending them a 'feature' phone that doesn't have infinity blade! The only group of souls that ill evangelize to are current or ex-symbian users..

Btw, now i truly appreciate this

the most important thing for him is actually FM Transmitter, which I found odd.
*
i'm oso odd because one of the most used feature (total hours) with 808 and also my past nokia is the FM Transmitter because i listen to tons of podcasts when stuck in jam.

bet you taunt your bro daily with your buttery smooth menu scrolling and how fast your apps launch compared to his biggrin.gif

lesson #2 : do NOT use shutter button to capture, in low light. Pressing the button will cause shake and blur your picture esp at full resolution. Use screen button or self-timer 2 seconds.

Once upon a time I was captivated by Nokia's marketing focus...

user posted image

The message is always about being creative, storytelling and connecting people. Because of ads like this (bare with me, embarrassing personal anedocte ahead), I went and create things to connect with my closed ones, like how I use the n82 with Nokia Sport Tracker to run for 20km to plot online and create a love-shaped route map and email it to my then gf. What we have now instead are crude ads that focus on being competitive instead of creative, just look at the latest lumia ads 'Bigger, Faster, Better' with boring square blocks of colours...sigh

im confused about sensor mode pureview/full resolution. its ok if i snap on auto mode?
*
Share with you my settings, maybe can help you abit to decide when to use what (DISCLAIMER: this is just my personal preferences, not the perfect or ideal settings or anything). Would like hear about other pureviewers here on their settings and usage too:

AUTO and SCENES mode
I use these modes mainly when taking non-critical, day-to-day casual photo. AUTO is when I'm super lazy to think or in a hurry, SCENES is when I'm less lazy to think and know the kinda subject I'm taking, for example macro shot of my fried loh shee fun or portrait shot of someone. These settings generally yield the best looking photos especially night shot because of the use of Pureview. But use zoom sparingly if really need to frame something afar and can't get close enough. Because though it is lossless, the more zoom power the less pureview power (less 'pure pixels').

CREATIVE mode (The FUN mode biggrin.gif )
Creative 1:
Full resolution (34MP), 16:9, Superfine, Colour tones: Normal, Capture mode: Normal, Saturation/Contrast/Sharpness: Default, Flash: Off, Exposure: 0.0, WB: Auto, ISO50, ND filter: ON

This is when I need to shoot something at the highest resolution for project/archiving/travel with post-processing using computer (aka The Kiasu Mode) 16:9 because my projects are mainly interior and architecture shots, go for 4:3 if you need the extra 38MP. ISO50 to get maximum details with sufficient lighting, ND filter for creative effect mostly daytime outdoor.

Creative 2:
Pureview 8MP, 16:9, Superfine, Vivid, Capture mode: Normal, Saturation/Contrast/Sharpness: Default, Flash: Off, Exposure: 0.0, WB: Auto, ISO AUTO, ND filter: Auto

Most used settings, my default. The best balance for quality and resolution. Post-processing most of the time not needed. For slightly more important daily pics for most occasions, like pictures of your loved one or a nice landscape, etc.

Creative 3:
Pureview 5MP, 4:3, Superfine, Colour tones: Normal, Capture mode: Self-timer 2 seconds, Saturation/Contrast/Sharpness: Default, Flash: Off, Exposure: 0.0, WB: Auto, ISO 800/1600, ND filter: Auto

The I-am-not-afraid-of-the-dark mode, 5MP and Normal colour tones to bring noise to the minimum, self-timer to avoid shake, ISO 800 or 1600 (extreme case)

Creative 4 (I really wish I have this extra preset):
Pureview 5MP, 4:3, Superfine, Colour tones: Normal, Capture mode: Bracketing 5 images -0.3/+0.3, Saturation/Contrast/Sharpness: Default, Flash: Off, Exposure: 0.0, WB: Auto, ISO 1600, ND filter: Off

Basically the Sport mode for fast moving subject.

now i understand  rclxms.gif . but im surprise the size of picture between 8mp and 34mp. like 800kb vs 10mb. for 4r paper i think 8mp enough already
*
more than enough, only use the full resolution mode (The Kiasu Mode) when you need to do large print or sell to stockphoto sites.

for those asking how to turn-off that pesky battery-draining 808's weather background app, install App Stop from the Store.
