and your previous post about screen breaking scare me d since i can be clumsy at times. based on videos where they do drop tests, the gorilla glass tend to break when the screen fall flat on the floor  doh.gif .
oo...ic
i'm not too particular on apps since i'm a 5800xm user who uses mainly for call, sms and taking ninjashots :|

most phones drop today will break, the good thing about gorilla glass compared to normal glass is that it usually can absorbs the first few drops without any sign of crack visible on the glass, but internally the glass bond are weaken and already fractured (they called it the internal bleeding). like my friend, he drop few times already, not a scratch but the last time, the glass all smashed because even with a low drop. as for non-gorilla glass, they first drop will usually crack straightaway.

about this...just remembered...i suppose we can try Sugru
can shape anyhow you think best to protect the phone and still removable
love the cuteness but the shore hardness (ISO 868) for Sugru quite similar to TPU (+-70), might not be able to absorb drop impact at corners. compared to the construct of N9, N8, Lumia or even HTC One X, the surrounding enclosure is not sturdy enough to absorb any side impact and on top of that its heavier weight. need to be extra careful with this baby unless you wrap it with sponge tongue.gif

one thing very weird about nokia's 5 sep annoucement is that wp8 only release in nov, why annouce now??? are ppl going to wait until end of the year to get the phone like the bygone era?? What will happened to all the current lumia wp7 sales before nov, suicidal rite? doesn't make any business sense to me or am i missing anything, or are they going to release to select market like asia before microsoft's official wp8's launch?? Donno wat elop thinking? Really hope nokia got something else under their sleeve, sep 5 will be really interesting..

I send to print 120pcs 4R size from my library for my family today. Half using iphone 4s half using pureview, i skip all those wasted ones with HTC ONE X and Nexus. i know this is awfully obvious because of pv being a much better camera but i didnt really expect to see such a big difference in term of quality as they are only 4R size.

Those with pureview have almost no noticeable noises, consistent quality throughout with very sharp details for both bright and low light. Whilst the 4S are mostly soft, very noticeable and muddy looking noises in low light and many are not in correct tapped focus. Its like looking at my non-retina macbook with the retina one, esp those in full 36mp. Printing out pureview photos really show how much better it actually is compared to other smartphones. It's hard to go back to lesser cameraphone unless i carry multiple devices, which i'll never do.

speaking of samsung, i jus remembered how it had also shamelessly ripped off blackberry and nokia n-series before the iphone, they are really a serial copycat or 'tracer' in my book.

And they are indeed samseng:

Added on September 3, 2012, 4:58 pmspeaking of battery life, this thing is really power-efficient even after hours of musics, browsing, exchange push, reading and running background apps.

I mean, I'm not sure about the copying part (particularly on iPhone). But then, if it's in terms of looks and design, I don't see any big deal, although it's not nice, but it happens. Just don't 100% completely copy.
I means, it's normal when people saw some design, they get a new idea "based" on that design, or there can be reference to many design. It's very subjective.
Have you design webpage? Even webpage, when webpage is still relatively new, those webpage LAYOUT design looks unique, but as web grows, the layout become common, and is it copy? And many layout design are actually based on another layout/ideas.
Long ago, web page are famous with frames, LEFT and RIGHT, then got TOP, LEFT and RIGHT; So, someone create new web page usually will follow the common ones. Later come out with using tables and eliminates frames, the design gone more flexible and creative, but just because there're similarities, it's not really copying.

Anyway, if DIRECT copying, then it's very obvious; I'm not sure if Samseng have any DIRECT-COPYING; Nowadays, there's too many design that is similar, or VERY similar, who copy who? Is it important until need to ban? I have no idea but I just think it's plain stewpid, sorry to say. It's not like some awesome technology.
Nokia first invented internal antenna phone in 3210, so should they ban everyone from using internal antenna? LoL, what will happen to other phones today with antenna on the outside, haha...
So who came up with first colour screen? Who come up with MP3/Wav ringtone, etc? LoL... Who copy who?
Sorry, but to me, that's just plain stewpid if it become so serious.

But talking about copying, look at Korean cars, hehehe. I think the looks is also copy here and copy there.
*
ya, you are right, samsung don't have any direct copying

but i do not think Apple is inventor of any thing, in fact i see them as the 'greatest thief' ever in the industry. there is another quote that Steve Jobs used (quoting Picasso) - "Good Artists Copy, Great Artists Steal". The difference between 'Copying' and 'Stealing' is that copying is lazy, blatant and obvious (eg samsung) whereas stealing require really hard work to create something unique, seamless, integrated and way way better than the original ideas (eg. from xerox to all the other bits and pieces of half-baked ideas). Recent good 'stealing' examples are like Windows Phone OS and Nokia N9 and Lumia design when comes to touchscreen design. Like they said - "Everything is a Remix"

to me personally, what samsung did was clearly dishonourable (the part on trade dress) but i do disagree 100% with Apple on riding on the law to enforce the pattern system to create maximum supernova on samsung. Other than industries like pharmaceutical, medical or agricultural, i strongly believe the whole software pattern system is broken and stupid, stifling innovation.

btw, i've been a web/application developer for more than a decade now smile.gif

808 just got pawned . Lucky i never bought the 808 hahaha.

hahaha you troll....anyway, come year 2020, pretty sure i'll be more glad to have pics in 38MP than 8MP. Like how I used to be wrong in 2000 thinking 4MP is good enough for archiving photos..blur images can be 'avoided' but you can't do anything to increase megapixel...and 920 don have ND filter too..

to avoid confusion or dilution of their Pureview brand, Nokia has updated the white paper at

http://i.nokia.com/blob/view/-/1824212/dat...ureview-820.pdf

btw, i think digi will promote this phone like nobody tongue.gif

if it have a longer exposure + stablizer + bigger aperture you dont need flash.

The problem with 808 xenon flash you cant control the power

Can't wait to check out its noise control compared to 808 and HTC ONE X(f2.0 too).

For me the most tempting feature is the 920 screen drool.gif

Considering the fact that most people don't give a toss about 41Mp picture, with this wireless charging, great photo and video output, free music for american users, and lots of apps in store, this handphone can I think turn nokia around.  It satisfy most users requirement except for those hardcore photographer.
*
if turn around means nokia to be no.3 maybe but to unseat the top 2 a bit hard, for an entrant to really disrupt an established incumbents, their new products almost always need to be an entirely new category or with drastically more unique and never-before-seen features. the gimmicky map feature we see today is not new (iOS apps) and in reality, the UX is not practical and close to unusable. The only one true but small innovative feature we see today is the camera/video editing features for 920 using the Scadalo technologies and maybe the screen refresh rate improvement.

furthermore, launching a device without specific pricing or release dates is considered as suicidal in this climate. Nokia shares just plunge 10% on both sides of the Atlantic following the launches.

Which means we would expect a super phone by Nokia which has all the above features, ie. 41MP, OIS, windows for higher price ?  Or maybe it can be found in Vertu brand ?

this doug guy is an idiot for saying that, it’s clear that this video was meant to demo video using the Lumia itself.

As a comeback-hero-saviour-what-not device, nokia marketing should have name Lumia 920 as Lumia Juggernaut or something more badass...920 sounded like a lame, half-hearted effort, like 20% better from Lumia 900, or version 0.20..HTC ONE X is a good comeback name.

Juggernaut Alpha
