PHP and ASP both are programming language.
Wordpress is written in PHP, so linux shared hosting will do the job for you.

For domain names, any prices between $5 - $10 are reasonable. Yahoo's $1.99 domain, you can try it, but indeed, there were negative feedback on them.

Try www.namecheap.com

Thanks.

I don't have any domains with Namecheap but I have seen many positive feedback on them. They are registering the domains through eNom, which is one of the largest domain registrar in the market.

We use eNom to register our names. They are very good. I am not recommending them to you because you can only register eNom names at a more affordable rate if you purchase their reseller account. Furthermore, due to high fraudulent orders, they have blocked Malaysian IPs from registering domains with them. I'm fortunate because my colleagues are helping me to register the names from Singapore.

As for NetKL, I'm afraid I do not have any experience dealing with them.

Thanks.

Used yahoo domain registration a few times when the offer was $1.99 per year. Then when the 2nd year become something like $8.99 or $9.99, I moved my domains someplace else.

PHP is a scripting language. so are ASP and JSP. some people call them programming language, i don't think it's wrong either la.

I'm using DreamHost and have some issue with them previously, but they are all solved. Average support since they only offer email support, uptime quite alright too. They do offer domain name registration, and they are one of the valid ICANN registrar - I guess it's safe.

currently i have a A.com hosted with mailserver at mail.A.com
and if i purchase B.com, and use domain pointer to link B.com to A.com

and question is:
is it possible to setup B.com mailserver pointing to mail.A.com?
or is it called something like mx record? not sure about it.

i know domain mail forward will do.
but does domain mail forward watever@B.com to watever@A.com ?

Thanks.

yes.

i have two domain.
one is hosted domain and one is domain alias.

ppl can send to ur watever@b.com, but u must login to ur mail server of the a domain
watever@a.com and you are able to receive your email.

depend on how you do the setup.

but i not sure is this what you want to ask. smile.gif

ok. i've managed to setup domain pointer in my directadmin.
but now the question is, there's an option to check "create as an alias"
if i check it, it will appear as alias type in my list.
if i dont, it will appear as pointer type in my list

any difference? when i click on each alias & pointer details, it shows the same thing, mx, pop, localhost, webmail. bla bla bla

any idea?

Thanks

recommend you to use micfo as at my signature below. Their montly payment can be considere expensive compare to what other company give you ( I mean hosting space, bandwidth and etc). But what really great of them, is their customer service.

Sweden company with 24 hours technical assistant. I mean 24hours perfectly. no jokes. some company offer 24hours assistant but only to their hot line or etc.

this provide

24hours live chat (love this one! better than hot line. u can paste the programming error, and everything i written so no confusion occur. Best of all 24 hours, anytime i want them, they will be there.)
24hours email reply (usually i get less than 3 min to get reply by them, )
24hours hot line. ( most host company provide this support 24hours but how much u willing to pay for an oversea phone call)

technical support, all hosting company got technical support. but the just provide with assistant in how to do. but sometimes if we are too noob in something, how to do is not enough. We need someone to do it for us.

i just transfered hosting to them. very good indeed. all transferring process is done by them. i know nothing.

if is there any SQl or PHP programming error and u don't know to do about it, they will help you free of charge.

for you who are not familiar in hosting and all programming, this company is the one im strongly recommended.

From domain setting, to stupid thing like template installing to website. They will help u.

for you out there still looking for hosting company, think carefully before decide one. you going to host your website for years and probably forever. so u need a very good one as a start. changing to many hosting company will put many losses on you.

smile.gif

P/S: look like i am promoting them here. YES I AM PROMOTING MICFO BECAUSE I AM SO HAPPY WITH THEM! MY PREVIOUS HOSTING SO SUCKS, 3 DAYS TO REPLY MY EMAIL, ASKING TO MUCH QUESTIONS THEY WILL SAID THIS IS NOT UNDER THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. Who am I? I am their customer. I already paid subscription to them for 2 years. I request for refund, they just silence as death. Don't be surprise the company I refer to is malaysian own.
