actually register the domain is very fast.

the thing is with the domain, you have to point them to nameservers.

now the thing that takes more time is for DNSs to be updated with the information.

Hmmm.. I registered one today, the webhosting company registered me at around 1pm(they ask me to wait for the next email), well, the details arrived to my email inbox around 4.10pm.

And now I do nslookup, and it shown the domain non-existent. Is it normal? smile.gif

it's normal, i assume that you've not configured your domain when you did NSlookup.

not available on NSlookup means the information is not updated on the DNS yet. that's all.

as long as you bought it, the domain is in existence already.

wait. what do you mean tomorrow? IMO it shouldn't take more than 24 hours.

usually domain purchases will result it the domain pointing to the registrar, so you'll have set the nameservers to wherever you're hosting.

Hmm.. I already pointed it to my no-ip domain by using URL forwarding option provided in the admin panel. Because I setup my pc as a server.

Well, I able to retrieve something from DNS report, but not WHOIS lookup of dnsstuff.com. Btw, the domain name is sphereum.com. Ermm.. Got no idea on this stuff, this is my very first experience on domain name.

You may need to contact them for more info. As I can see the DNs server that you are pointing doesn't have your domain DNS zone.

to me it depends on your usage.

if your page is just HTML then anything will do.

usually Windows hosting support ASP but not PHP while Linux hosting is vice versa.

speaking of which, i rarely come by any host that supports JSP. tongue.gif

so far using Shinjiru's Linux web hosting plan, not bad....
great service n support also....
currently can't get such hosting plan tat offered by them in any hosting company with such low price...
last time even unlimited bandwidth but not now, since bandwidth getting valuable and expensive....

just a recommendation, not promoting...i'm their customer also, no point promoting for them FOC, just feel their service provided really great.....

if anyone can get any better plan or service than this one let me know, coz my package expired soon n if there is better hosting plan then will consider changing, hoho.... laugh.gif
sorry Shinjiru.... whistling.gif

sam,

i think you know better that i know that Windows can support PHP, depending on how they configure IIS or whatever webserver they run. smile.gif i mean look at my testbed, it's Windows OS running PHP also mah. biggrin.gif

the thing is that if you read my post, i use the word 'usually'. smile.gif meaning, majority of the Windows hosting that i come by.

take for example hostpro2u.
http://www.hostpro2u.com/web_hosting/malay...res_compare.htm

Windows = no PHP. smile.gif

however i've not checked on Hosting plans for quite a while now, with the growth of PHP i'm sure more are installing on their WIN setup but nevertheless one should never assume WIN = PHP because not all hosts are doing that.
