One more thing, if you're doing a website, usually you do it on your PC first right? Then from your PC, you will upload the files to the site. In the PC, already can gauge how many space you will need, 50MB? 100MB? Then you won't buy too little or too big.

Emails, for me, I usually download into my Outlook. I don't get too many emails anyway for my sites, maybe once a week got visitors asking questions.

Photo size also up to the person, you can save the photos as medium, or high, or maximum quality. The size will vary accordingly. I'd say if anyone would upload high quality photos, maybe 100MB is necessary.

For web upstarts, usually we don't use SQL That's mostly for expert.

So according to my44's case, 50MB should be enough for normal usage such as giving out information and some *.GIF pictures which is small size and easy for 56K users to view it. 
So if wanna use SQL then the 50MB wont be sufficient?

I doubt people want to view 2MB photo in the web browser. Even with broadband, the download will take ages.

I think some people will resize the image to 500MB per photo, quite decent quality and not too taxing on the download speed. They'll keep the 4MB photo in the HDD

I've just decided to sign up with pixcle (they offer to host 2 domains which what I am looking right now, no thanks to VersatileNetworks). But pls don't worry, there will be a need for me to host a small site <50MB which serverfreak will be my choice for that purpose.

I'm interested in registering with ServerFreak but without much experience in web hosting, especially dealing with domains. anyway, this popped up during registration:

If i choose this option:
Am i in full control of my domain? will i be able to transfer it or anything later if I wanted to switch hostings?
