hi.
issues about accommodation again
i was trying to look for rooms which don't require me dealing with agents (trying to save agent fees). then i have this friend who just came back from singapore last year. telling me that it is safer to go with agents.
she told me that sometimes the "owner" that i deal with may not be the real owner and they may be tenants sub-letting the rooms (she said it's against singapore law or something).
then she mentioned something like "you won't know who's living there. usually when you drop by to view the rooms the tenants are not home and there may be 8 to 10 fellas staying there which is against the law and you may get into trouble in the future". something like that.
anyone encountered problems like these before? or have heard from friends that this occurred before?

so if i get EP now. i don't have to pay EPF like in Malaysia? i can get the full salary every month?
i heard from some of my friends that they don't get the full salary every month.
please advise.

most of the rooms are around $1000 so agent fee would be $500. for a malaysian i think that's too expensive but can't help it if i want to work in singapore

levy will be paid by the company right? so i should be getting full salary then. hopefully

if the company is liable to pay. they shouldn't have kept our money
of course i don't intend to leave the company after a few months (that is if everything is fine). but i also don't feel like letting them hold the money.

i'm looking for rooms around tanjong pagar. according to all the websites the rental for a single/common room is priced at $1000 average.
of course i don't intend to spend so much. but that's what i found from the websites
i'm aware that i will need a lot of money for the deposit etc. that's why i don't feel like spending another half for agent fees

yup i'm looking around now. tanjong pagar is very expensive a lot of people told me that.
i think if i stay along green line should be fine. so i don't have to change lines.

edited: but i don't feel like sharing with people. because i won't know who they are

today called her, she said still under review

ya. can get around $500 a month. save half. need to travel a bit every morning but should be fine i think.
will look around and decide when i drop by singapore to view potential rooms. can't decide much now without seeing the rooms
am still waiting for company to update me on the EP status. they didn't even tell me whether they have submitted the forms. sigh

utility room costs $600 a month! is it really small? but yeah with air-conditioning and PUB i think it should be quite ok.

ya. i drive to work everyday in KL. that is going to change once i move to singapore

i've tried checking the status online. but "no record found". a bit sad

they will quote you the rate of the pinoys .... is it nice ??

Hi everyone, if a fresh graduate got 3.5K/month in Singapore, is this considered a good salary? Could you guys please give me an approximate amount how much could I save per month? Something that looks like this will be cool,

Anyone have any update recently on the mobile package offer by 3 telco? I know Singtel already introduced their data mobile plan according to package you sign which previously is flat 12gb/mth for all package. Is another 2 telco also do the same?

Yes, Singtel already updated their package.
For my case, Starhub tends to be less reliable, comparing my mobile broadband Singtel to wifey Starhub. Her one always suddenly cannot browse,no 3g connection, while mine always stable browsing or tethering USB with laptop, download ok for me.
Do note that the mobile broadband packages usually is 24mth contract so can consider to take phone+data pack with free/cheap phones its more worth it. Need money just sell that free phone

I've heard talks that the easiest way to get a job in SG is to move there but don't the owners/landlord require a WP first to rent out? Still considering options so any advice would be helpful.
