if use same lens but diff body. Other factor are fit as the same. Will the picture come out same? Main factor of good shaRP picture is body or lens? I know both are important. But if to choose one, which carry higher weight?

Hi guys, need all the sifu's expert comments again.

Was just toying with my Nikon 60mm f2.8 LENS on the OMD.
Question: Would u call this sharp?

not shifu, jus share my opinion.
lookin at the watch hands n dials, the details doesn't look sharp. could b bcos of the watch glass reflectin light etc.
BUT if look at the knob by the side which u use to do the adjustment, it's sharp sharp kao kao biggrin.gif

Bro, mind sharing the photo inof on the Sugardaddy shot?
N is that reflection at the mid lower 1/3 of the photo?
*
Sugardaddy exif http://www.flickr.com/photos/chongchiang/7...in/photostream/

Camera Olympus E-M5
Exposure 0.01 sec (1/100)
Aperture f/1.8
Focal Length 45 mm
ISO Speed 500
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash Auto, Did not fire

And yes that is a reflection..cause the bright sunlight is shooting right at my camera lens..and the al cheapo lens filter do the "magic"

i think most camera would fail in this condition..what you would "normally" get is very bright background and the foreground object is all pitch black.

and i did not use any flash..cause no flash = more natural lighting..

Hi guys,

Saw people posting on photomalaysia regarding this problem so i used my GX1 to test around, as im planning to take star photography at my upcoming bali trip, I found that even at iso 160 I can see problem during long exposure shot, you will notice speckles in the photo which is caused by hot pixel noise, as I don't have other friends with GX1, I'm not sure if this is just the general problem with this camera or only this particular unit, therefore I would like to ask for some helps here to check together.

Turn off long exposure noise reduction, turn off shutter AF in custom menu, set to manual focus, exposure wise iso 160, shutter speed 60s, aperture F8, then put it on the table, then shoot with lens cap on. After that try to examine the image by zooming in, or transfer to computer to zoom in 1:1 ratio, you will find speckle(red/blue dot) which is fixed pattern in all the test images.

I have tried this with long exposure noise reduction on in the camera, and still the speckle is visible after dark frame subtraction in the camera, therefore that makes this camera almost not usable for long exposure stuffs while it supports 60s exposure natively.

If you guys have G3, do try it out too since GX1 and G3 both share same sensor, I do wish you guys don't see the hot pixel noise issue because I do wish GX1 is capable of producing usable long exposure image.

Says you guys don't have that problem, then i should send this camera for warranty, thank you!

Hello. I do agree with ur remarks but yea, try as I may, I can't seem to get the dials sharper although the area falls into the same DoF as the "adjuster"

Thanks bro for the exif. That's y I'm very interested with this shot. The background is super bright yet ur characters r clear n well litted. Thought flash was used. The place must hv pretty good lighting too then?

Very nice shot nonetheless. N I asked about the reflection coz last time my 17mm had the same thing too and also due to cheap filter. Lol.

This problem also apparent with the PEN series [my EP3 is also susceptible to long exposure noise] so I don't think your camera is at fault.
I referred to this thread: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/four-thirds...pl-2-noise.html
for some of the suggestion and better understanding on the reason why it happened.
