QUOTE(walabies @ May 20 2013, 08:38 PM) It actually fairs quite well with quite a lot of clean DAPs. yes, i noticed that too =) The vocals are especially impressive, forward, detailed with clarity yet musical at the same time. Although i don't think it's considered flat or neutral since i've seen someone posted the graphs and omg, it's so wild and whacky lol. But surprisingly it still sounds natural... FAD magical signature? haha http://rinchoi.blogspot.com/2012/10/final-...-s-updated.html

Your ears will be the best judgement =)

Impressions:
Biggest difference in BA Heaven series and Dynamic PF series is how they render bass and treble. Both have magical mids, but the bass and treble are... WOW.
BA is totally opposite of what dynamic driver should be doing, ie. in FAD series, BA has stronger bass, while dynamic has the more natural treble.
Speaking from memory of Heaven S (slightly veiled, powerful-v-shaped ss), Heaven C (slightly brighter and less veiled than S), Fi-BA-SS (bass with quantity, wider stage, wonderful ss), Heaven 4 & 6 (more or less same with the predecessors, with the added longer tube housing creating a wonderful reverb), PF 8 (forgotten most, remembered for the nostalgic feel) and PF 9 (even extreme than PF8 from faint memory).

I've tried the heaven c and own the heaven s, and I strongly disagree that the heaven s is powerful v shaped though. The mids are not recessed at all but are very forward. In fact its the most prominent one compared to the bass and treble. Heaven c as you said is less bright, more flat and lighter impact in all areas.

Trouble is, I may slowly enjoy it now...

Hehe no worries. I'm curious though on how you found it powerfully v shaped. Do you run your sources through DACs/amps? I only run them straight to the source since I love portability Haha. I dont think I'll be looking at another FAD though. One is enough just for their unique sound signature. Do you own/plan to get any FAD?

I don't really know which amp to use for FAD series. PF i think it should pair well with tubes. For Heaven series, I guess it should go well with tubes or anything slow and refined.

The reason you might feel it is V shape, i believe because the mid range of Heaven's presented in thinner sound, comparing against Westone or Shure series.
It had not emphasize on that particular frequency range, but to flat out all range in similar zone, so you won't feel any outstanding in mid especially.

Thin maybe for the Heaven C, but the S is richer than Shure and Westone IMO though.

That's why it's always YMMV in audio.
Btw, Final Audio products really need a different perspective in the listeners in order to appreciate what it brings. It's just like literally forget about all the conventional sounds and listen to how FAD redefines the music.
Some may say it is terrible, but I think it's unique.

Speaking of that... FAD has a heavenly match with Astell and Krell... and I saw something like two things bundling together

Maybe a few weeks later.. Make sure wall bro you have restocked the VI I like the spacious feel that the fad provides... Very unique than other items in the market... Although they have recessive mids .... ( IMHO only )...maybe it will gets better when I burn in ...
