The question of more expensive is irrelevant when it comes to FAD because of the materials that they use and their niche exclusivity. You're paying a lot for the materials and I am sure their products are marked up a lot. they could achieve the same sound I am sure without the need to use such exotic materials.FAD's flagship universal is even more expensive than any custom IEM out there.

It's akin to buying a limited edition and hence more exclusive Louis Vuitton bag or a limited edition Patron Of The Arts Mont Blanc pen compared to a normal Mont Blanc Pen.
