ur prolly better off playing DH tbh, from what i can see, barb is like, "temporary" tanks or cannon fodder, u cant do direct tanking styles at all, not sure if in the game itself u can get any armor end game that would allow barb to do that or not since most of its skills are like super tank skills. with how bad the latency is when i play, its sad to play barb, but its more like, stun mobs, cast dmg skills and keep party buffs up, hold the boss in place for a moment, kite again till stunner cooldown and rinse repeat.

I just beat him with level 25 barb. Hired a Templar and gave him a big shield with all the healing skills and suddenly it was easy as pie. lol

Added on May 22, 2012, 8:28 amI guess at level 25 I don't have enough experience to talk, but now I'm having a good time combining Ground Stomp & Wrenching Smash + Revenge + Whirlwind. Whirlwind into a group of mobs, stomp them to pull them in and stun and then revenge to gain back hp. Is this only going to work in normal mode? lol

ytd tried to use 1H + 1S seem like atk got slower and less dmg...not really sure, still experimenting. so at the end still use back 1H + 1H.

and for 2H weapon, seem like u need a very nice weapon to par with 1H dmg coz of super slow speed.

currently using 2H, but will change to shield later on.
nightmare, Act II 14k hp, 880 dps so far so good..

My L35 Barb just starting on nightmare act 1. I know it's slow, no time to play leh.

I love my barb but heard he is useless in inferno. So sad... My barb going to be useless when he grows up....

Let's hope blizzard will do something to buff him up.

waiting for new patch balanced up the hero..

my barb currently on inferno act 2.

only have problem with most elite. white mob are ok to fight.

no kiting no spint.

p/s: was farming at inferno act 1 like crazy. pt consist of a monk and me.

Guys need help here.. Which attributes for item is better.

Item A
Armour 180
+ 70 vit
+ 82 str
+ 45 dex
+ increase life globe XXX
Has 1 socket

Item B
Armour 586
+ 102 vit
+ 182 armour
+ 33 Fire resist
Has 1 socket

Which item would be better? Is the armour better than stats? Currently in Inferno act1

lol if ur in inferno u should know ur character by now
anyway its all trial n error based on ur character's need
go out and hit some mobs..if u die fast basically u need the the armour + vit (B)
but if not u can go with a for the extra dps

Haha im currently dying on those normal zombie in act1

dps about 800+ with Battle Rage on.

resistance is very important at inferno mode.

Lvl 49 barb reporting in.. Read thru the trhead and it seems, pure tanking barb is not so viable??

I for one is actually making one "great wall of china" tanking barb. Lol. Can't access game now but I'll just post the screenshot of my barb when I'm home. I'm trying to play a pure tanking style becos my party consist of 1 DH, 1 wiz and 1 monk. Dh and monk pumping dps, and wiz for crowd control. For partying, I'm not facing any problem so far. Currently at act 4, just killed azmodan last night.. All I do is just war stomp, threatening shout and keep the effect at taunting the mobs, and wats the skill call.. Turning u into monster one.. And revenge. Only using the "turning into monster" skill when its really a lot. No problem so far becos my wiz and DH have really good dmg. And As far as I'm concerned, when I'm alone, I have not died in nightmare mode yet. Almost, but revenge and a lil bit ofrunning around kept me alive. Wat I can say is to play a pure tanking barb u need good party to clear the mobs for u fast. As for solo, u will be having hard time as dps is not high at all.

I'll post up a screenies on myy char tonight. Not exactly perfect, but working fine so far till azmodan. As far as I rmb, I'm having bout 25k hp, 3.2k armor, and only 800 dps. Something like that. Hope it helps to clear the doubt of ppl who intend to play pure tanking barb, at least for nightmare, its still good enuff though u need good dps chars in ur party. Solo is really tough..

Btw I do have a question, I'm currently in nightmare onli. So I'm not too sure whether tanking style is viable to be used when I reach hell or inferno? Thinking to actually stick with tanking all the way, but read thru forum, it seems no matter how hardshell ur barb is, inferno can just kill u with a snap of finger. So for the moment, I'm starting to keep dps item. Lol

my all eq if pumping my VT, only the weapon is +STR
i believe u hardly survive in nightmare with 5.8k hp, go to AH and hunt some nice eq

yeah...very hard but still manageable. currently in 70% of Act 2 Nightmare.
usually party with Monks and DHs and sometimes 1 Wizard or another Barb.

bro.. u really need to pump up ur vit.. as im now lvl 42 or 43 (cannot rmb my level).. i got 16k hp n 1.1dps.. still hardly can tank when there are alot of purple n gold mobs.. my dps very low as no money to go AH to hunt for good weapon...

i guess i am under geared...
planning to farm for more gears in Act 3 with my frens.
we all share our loots with each other

it is quite suffering when ur items suckz and no money to buy good item in AH.. hehe.. so normally i just pick what mobs drop.. n i dont mind it is magic or rare.. as long as giving me vit n str will do .. hehe.. some ppl only concern about rare items.. magic items they dont pick at all.. hehe
