Nightmare or hell?
You should reach hell when you reach LVL49.
Or you have crappy gears?

You need to get better gears.
I don't remember I had problem in Nightmare.

That is Act 3.

If he can kill elites/champion with 5-6 hits, I think he needs only 1 hit to ship the normal creeps back to hell.

LOH is a must. Otherwise how do you regain HP?

LOH + overpower is useful in certain elite fight too, especially those with poisonous attack.

Weapon / STR / Crit chance / Crit dmg + skills

Revenge also depends on how many enemy hits you receive.
If you are surrounded by 5-6 monsters, you will have greater HP recovery.
If only one monster hits you, the HP recovery is quite negligible.

You can use this on certain elites too.

For my case, overpower is useful to counter certain elites only.
Based on my experience, it is useful to counter those poisonous attacks.

It is difficult to comment since I do not know what kind of elite monsters you encountered.

P/S By the way, do you have LOH? You need LOH for Overpower (CA) to work.

Ghom fight, you should be fine with 350-400 LOH.
Use Bloodthirst if you find you can't recover enough HP.
You can dual-wield too.

Without LOH, I wonder how Overpower (CA) will work for you.
Share with us how it goes then.

There is no LOH in your current setup. You will need that in A3/A4.

You have quite low HP. Quite low AR too (600+ after WC).
You don't tank. You just can't tank when you fight elites/champions. I believe you have problem to fight normal creeps too.
Half of your HP gone if you receive 2-3 hits. It is pain-in-the-ass to chase the desert hornets.

So, yo don't tank. You just can't tank.
You use dual-wield. You can deliver decent DPS.
What you can do is, use the skill WoTB+EQ(CA) just to kill the elites/champions as fast as you can.

Change your skill and you should be able to do A2.

Weapon, amulet, rings.

My best armor and AR for my Barb was, 11K+ armor and 1500AR (after War Cry + Mantra of Healing), I couldn't tank too.
If I leaped, it would be 33K+ armor + 1500AR, I could tank for 3 seconds.

Generally, Barb can't really tank.
If you want to tank, you need to have HP recovery too (LOH/Lifesteal/Liferegen etc).
With HP recovery, you can tank longer as you can survive longer. You can survive 5-10 seconds longer and kite or corpse next, perhaps.

Alternatively, you go for DPS.
We can see we have members that opt for DPS now (100K DPS).
The faster you kill, the better chance you survive in battlefield.
You will need to sacrifice some armor and AR for that. And you still need LOH/Lifesteal.

Another Barb we see is the WW + LOH combo + high damage.
It doesn't tank as well. It kills as many and as soon as possible.

In short, Barbs can't really tank, especially come to A3/A4.
I played in public game most of the time for many weeks now and I have not seen one Barb tanker.
The best tanker I've seen so far is a Wizard.

Duckhole has gone DPS.
Moodswing, can't remember his DPS as a tanker.

I am not sure whether they can stand on a pool of fire/poison/arcane for 30 seconds or not.
I saw a Wizard standing still for more than 1 min tanking, with fire/poison/arcane under his feet + 4 elites surrounded him (other 3 players already dead).

This i know. We also assume that tanker will have to forego DPS aka kill.

As we talked about tanker, we talk about tanker.
Can Barb tank? With poison/fire/arcane under feet for 30 secs?

By the way, the Wiz that I saw could cause more damage than any of the players.
We were dead most of the time. It was the Wiz that killed those elites.
Wiz' Energy Twister (wicked wind) can cause 252% weapon damage.

Tank normal creeps, no problem.
Tank extra health + fast + shield + melee elites, no problem.
Tank elites with fire/poison/arcane/chain, big problem.

As you mentioned monk, monk can do pretty easy in A3/A4 with 20K/6K armor/800 AR/40K HP/600LOH.
With similar stats, Barb is having great difficulty. It is doable nonetheless. As I mentioned, if you can't solo, try co-op.

P/S By the way, 5 second tank is nothing. Leap gives you 300% armor and you can tank 3 seconds & it takes 2 seconds to drain your HP .
You can do 5 seconds too.
