Added on May 18, 2012, 7:24 pmi think from the description, the new manager is Ian Ayre. After all, the 'manager' is just a head coach.

19 hours ago, Ian Rush tweeted this:

"*looks around, realises there's a rough lot of oppo fans about and wearing the FC Roberto Martinez scarf may not be the wisest move here*"

what do you make of this, fellow Redsmen?

Apparently LFC twitter asked a question who fans wanted as new manager.

Got bombarded for it and they took it down and said people misunderstood.

Its a populist move.

Jen Chang is a liverpool.fc-oriented PR guy, so could be him running the show from 8 days ago

Was a stupid decision to put that seeing they have like 900k followers or something. And kinda disrespectful to the man who just left.

Its very obvious that LFC.TV is on "damage control" mode.

Look at the way how they managed the fall out.

They're trying to gather as many people into the "I support you FSG" bandwagon.

So Rafa is now the 'last resort'?

I hope for whatever it is, Rafa gets it.

He's got unfinished business. Give him the support he needs.

Did you guys know that Rafa actually has his own ipad program, called "Globall Coach" (yes, Globall, double "L") that actually is a very powerful tool? And yes, he developed this after Inter Milan.

This guy really never stops thinking about football!

That app cost like 60 euros!

Rafa Benitez breathes football day and night and he is certainly a stat junkie.

However I got a feeling that FSG is trying to avoid reappointing him back as the manager for the fear that he is too aggresive in his demands and want complete control of the club management from right down from academy to the first team.

After all, he is the man who got the balls to issue ULTIMATUMs to his bosses!

Nuff said. Get this guy back to the club ASAP.
*
wait till you see the features loaded in the app. for an ipad app, its very, very intense. Believe me.

Rafa ticks all the boxes. Good CL record with back to back wins with Valencia and Liverpool, knows the current Liverpool structure, proven ability to work underextremely tight budget and incredibly tight political constraints.

If FSG wants to operate like a corporation instead of a football club then Rafa is totally out of the question. Rafa is outspoken and is essentially a whistle blower. But if FSG believe in its own ability to run the club, then it should not even be a problem.
*
lemme fix that for you.

But if i may add, Rafa for DOF!

Well, they nearly did launch a trust fund / share scheme ala Barca style when RBS (royal bank of scotland) was deanding for money. SoS were planning on legalizing it so that they could purchase a minority controlling stake, so that fans have voice representation on board level.

QUOTE(Cloud0890 @ May 20 2012, 03:15 AM)
Personally I think the dismissal of Kenny is justified. Had Hodgson spent 100mil and ended up in 8th place he would've been slated by fans. Kenny claims that his Liverpool team plays great football but only lacking in the finishing department, I somewhat disagree. It's pretty obvious that all this team can do is pass around in our own half pretending we are Barcelona whilst lacking creativity and flair in the final 3rd. Its true that we have been rather unlucky this season with all the shots hitting the post but that's not an excuse, his should have made signing a true out and out goal poaching striker a priority to compete with Suarez and Carroll. Splashing 20mil on Downing and 16mil on Henderson were horrendous decisions. 20mil for a player who didn't make an assist or scored a goal, when he was signed Kenny openly praised his high cross completion rate expecting him to create goal scoring opportunities from the wing for Andy Carroll. But he failed to realize that Downing has no pace and dribbling ability whatsoever to be effective from the wing, how do you expect someone to make plays from the wing when he can't dribble past even one defender. All I saw from him was standing around on the wing waiting for a pass and when he has the ball he passes it away because he can't find a way past the defender marking him. The signing of Henderson is somewhat more understandable because he is young and has the potential to succeed in the future. I'm not saying these players are bad players but at that price I'm pretty sure Kenny could've signed some foreign players that are cheaper and much better than those two.

Don't think reappointing Rafa is the right choice as well, thanks for his CL win but he won it with Houllier's team except for a few. He made some really poor signings at first but he finally got it right eventually and we came close to a title before his outburst at Fergie, maybe not entirely Rafa's fault we failed at the end but the beginning of the meltdown was when he wanted to get rid of Alonso for Barry. This decision baffled probably everyone who follows english football. Also to be honest under Rafa, we played some really boring football that's based on defense and closing down opponents forcing them into mistakes instead of focusing on creating our own chances. The tactical genius he is he often chooses certain tactics and players to counter our opponent's threats even at home games against lesser teams, why worry about them, why not attack and make them worry about us? I still miss Xabi very much  sad.gif

Roberto Martinez, poor choice! Wigan has been in the PL for 7 years, prior to Martinez's appointment they finished in 11th place under Steve Bruce, after his appointment it was relegation battle year after year showing no improvement whatsoever. Yes he had to operate under a tighter budget than it was for Bruce but look at Everton, Everton have one of the tightest budgets in the PL and they finished ahead of us this season (depressing!) Even newly promoted Norwich and Swansea who were tight on budget and lacking top flight experience did better than Martinez's Wigan.

Pep and Mourinho are nothing but fantasy for us when even Brendan Rodgers rejected our advances. Latest rumour is Michael Laudrup, not sure about him though, he has had some success with Getafe playing attacking football a few seasons back if I remembered right. Personally at this moment our best choice would probably be AVB. A protege of Sir Bobby Robson along with Mourinho, worked with Mourinho's championship winning team at Chelsea, had considerable success at Porto, plays free flowing attacking football, young and hungry, and most importantly he will want payback for what he received at Chelsea. Unlike Chelsea where there's a bunch of old guards who were resisting changes he was trying to implement, Liverpool are a club in transition and would be more willing to learn and revive the club together, player and manager. If FSG are willing to give him time to make his mark unlike Mr. Roman Impatient Abramovich, he would have more chance for succeeding with us than Chelsea.

YNWA

tl;dr = No Martinez, Yes AVB
*
KD won better with Hodson's men, despite Hodson claiming he had to rebuild.
Rafa won with Houllier's man, and its not just the man he utilized, he changed tactics that made the team win, when Houllier's tactics were so different than Rafa's.

Give credit where its due.

KD did more than just improve the team. He brought unity to the fans, rallied everyone together. At the very least people are more concerned about talking "on pitch" issues, no more bogged down by "off the pitch" issue with exception of Suarez Saga.

Rafa's outburst at Fergie? You meant that "Rafa's rant?" You seriously buy into that?
And what do you mean we were defensive under Rafa? We played the most pressing football ever, even when we had rotation to the squad.

yeah we do expect alot from Torres, but regardless, look at the Chelsea fans, we cheer him on every time he warms up, even after 1.5 years without making much of an impact. yet almost half you decides to continue to belittle him because he decided to leave.
*
There are 2 faults with Torres that we would always remember.

1. He claims his loyalty to the club. Hands in transfer request the next week / month (can't exactly remember)
2. His interviews slagged off Liverpool.

There are others, but basically its these 2.

We wish him the success, but not at the expense of LFC.

Somebody correctly pointed out to me about this.

if you look at the list of managers that have been confirmed approached,

Matinez (unconfirmed)
Rodgers (rejected FSG)
AVB (approached)
De Boer (rejected FSG)

their play styles are about the same, which favours tactics fluidity and high tempo. They are also Spanish / Barca related, with exception of AVB being an Iberian.

Hence this person said that our DoF is highly possible, could be Txiki (Barca's own DoF) but hasn't been revealed yet.
