Is that true? I'd always have the app since launch till now. Doesn't make me feel the app is battery hog at all. Still get around 4 hours screen on time .

Droid do u still have the Android Police article? If its really battery hogger then better remove it

Wow...4 hours of screen time...Please teach me how to achieve that? hmm.gif

If really Amazon Store is battery hogger, you would increase further?
*
Erm nothing special, screen brightness low and connect to wifi whenever possible, cuz wifi less power hungry compared to 3g. Max CPU set to 700mhz for normal using, no lag haha temple run also can play. Another adv of low max CPU is lower temperature.

Another factor in battery consumption that many neglected is whether u r stationary or on the move . When u on the move a lot, eg driving phone will consume more power.

it's did not happen here.. no battery issue on amazon appstore.
but recently I encounter the proxy issue on Amazon Appstore. other application or PLAY are fine with the proxy I set but Amazon Appstore latest version seem like already block it.... anyone with latest version and still work?
*
Amazon Appstore as in the app on your phone ? or the Appstore on the web ?

I'm using the latest phone AA and its working fine. Just downloaded a free app and updated 2 apps to confirm. But I've only use proxy during the setting up of AA. Once set up properly, i never use any kind of proxy anymore and it just works.

If you are referring to the web AA, then no idea .. sorry ..

Guys, anyone request for the article this is it.

Thanks droid for the article. Looking at the article and comments, it seems like not a general problem. Only some people will have the power drain by Amazon Appstore, but good to know .

not sure is any latest custom rom had complete the wifi direct function. as I remember, stock only have wifi direct on and off only but without any configure option. now I'm using miui and surprise, it's include the configure now. just tested, work fine without any 3rd app like s2.
*
That is very nice to know. I think wifi direct have potential to be very useful but a bit strange why ics provide the feature but no way at all to use it . Might as well don't let us on/off the feature...

Hopefully more roms will bundle in real wifi direct feature ...

S-Beam is for SGS-III device with SGS-III device only
If Beam to other device = Standard Android Beam
*
QUOTE(djlah @ May 19 2012, 07:08 PM)
different thing. wifi direct using wireless network but Beam is using NFC.
not sure is S3 S-Beam compatible with Android Beam or not.
*
actually it is related somehow, S-Beam is the implementation of Android Beam via Wifi Direct if there is a large file for transfer involved. Apart from that S-Beam is just similar as Android Beam

Both still uses NFC to initiate communication and transfer meta data but S-Beam take it 1 level up when sharing big files are involved, it uses wifi-direct as the transportation for the transfer.

I'm not sure if you guys have been sharing file via NFC Tapping (file expert feature), it is very similar like S-beam but uses BT instead of wifi direct for the transportation layer. Just share via NFC tapping, it will communicate the meta data via NFC and then configure bluetooth for both phone automagically(no need scan or pair or key in passcode) and transfer file via BT seamlessly.

Testing S-voice of SIII on nexus haha ... pretty interesting but things that rely on physical hw such as camera doesn't work. Apart from that, works quite well. Doesn't have much sense of humor though tongue.gif

Nope. This is on stock battery. Aokp + under clocked kernel + low brightness = longer screen on time smile.gif

Thanks springfall. Those r some of the test that can found, and can't find any test with 4.0.4. That's why i m here to find out from actual users.

Pls give me more reasons to grab myself a nexus. tongue.gif
I would be worried if i can't get over a day with my battery. But i m not a heavy user. Maybe moderate use.
30 min calls, some sms, maybe a 30-40 min internet ?

Springfall, responding to your edited post above,
I m not sure how to read the screen capture by mikeee.
It says, 2% battery left > this i understand
It says, use details > screen = 56%. What does this mean?

Time on of 4 n half hours is referring to device on? or screen on?

I think 4 n half hours is device on. And screen on consumed 56% of the battery which equal to 151 min (2 n half hour) screen ON time. This is what i understand from the screen shot by mikeeee

So, that means that 3 hours of screen on with 3g or maybe wifi is about right from gsmarena test isn't it?  hmm.gif
*
This is how you read that screen shot:

Battery left = 2%
Total Battery used = 98%
Screen on time = 4:30 minutes
Screen used 56% of the total battery used (98%)
The remaining of he 44% of the 98% comprises of other stuffs like android os, apps, mobile, wifi bla bla bla (everything else that consume power)

Clear?

Thanks. It's pretty good reason for me to get a nexus now.

4 n half hours screen on. That's good battery life to me. But, from Springfall explanation, it seems otherwise.  hmm.gif
I hope u r right.

Will consult sifu here later when i get 1.   smile.gif
*
Just to justify I upload my current screen shot, this time with the overall graph so that u can see the whole picture

Attached Image

Attached Image

From these shots u should be able to see that the 60% is 60% of total battery usage which is 85% at the point of the screen shot

Another update shot, look at the time of the shots and the screen on differences ... anymore doubt?

Lol.

I just knew it's based on vlingo. Just minor "siri-ish" tweaks and total redesign. Nothing much to see from S-voice now. :/

I think the Jeannie app works better. But the interface is awful.
*
Assistant (speaktoit) is much better than Jeannie or the leaked S-voice tongue.gif

it does almost everything including "I wanna take a photo" --> it will turn on camera for u tongue.gif

oh, and you can change the Avatar too, I have someone very special as assistant for me haha ... later i'll upload the screen shot

Last nite i flashed to Liquid Smooth 1.4 together with the liquid tuna extra zip file. The guys at Liquid said that no need to flash gapps since its already included in the rom. After reboot, there is no google map and google earth.

I tried to install from the play google using market enabler following all the steps ( airplane mode-wifi-fake provider) but failed to download due to not available for your location. Last time i remember i managed to download Google Earth using the same steps.

*
Did you clear play store cache after airplane-fake-provider.?

Thanks.  nod.gif

Am considering between this and the S2, as the S3 is out of budget for me.
*
To put things into perspective
1) s2 = touchwiz = how Samsung think Android should be
2) 1x = sense = how HTC think Android should be
3) nexus = how Google wants Android to be

Simple as that
