Jeng jeng jeng!!! someone letting go some good primes eh!...
I vouch for that egoness guy with that weird made in china arri cam dp! biggrin.gif
Love his 50mm and 28mm.... biggrin.gif... plus it does give some nice pleasing flares too! biggrin.gif

Yeah, as you know, i already have another 50mm HFT zeiss and 35mm Nikkor.
The 50mm, 28mm and the 135 is just sitting in my drybox most of the times.
And honestly, im financing for a wider prime! biggrin.gif.

Yup those lens have a unique characteristic that is exclusive to these older Zeiss lens
and because the coating techniques they use wasnt that advanced in 1970s hence, the incredible flares.
I found the lens softening out the otherwise too-sharp HD video by just the right amount, giving it a much more 'filmic' image,
and the lens is very Zeiss sharp!

Let's catch up soon bro! i still have your manfrotto!

Good enough lenses, i think you pretty much cover every focal length needed.
Grab the manual nikkors, with the manual aperture rings. because, if im not mistaken, nikons doesnt allow you to change aperture in live-view mode
and the possibility to use the lens on other system.

Get a good tripod with fluid head (sachtler Ace M or Manfrotto 501 head).

It's nice to have a slider/glidecam, but you wont be using it for a lot of shots.
I'm thinking to sell my slider, as I rarely use my slider, only a specific shots require sliders
so most of the time i left it at home or it barely moves from the equipment base on shoots.

thanks for the advice.
at first i was thinking to consider d800 + 14-24 + 24-70 + 70-200.
it may cost a bomb without the video equipment (such as lighting, tripod, monopod, slider, stabilizer etc)

and somemore it gonna be very bulky.

thats why im thinking to go DX. nod.gif

this is for the company actually.. since i always travel here and there to meet people, i dont need FX nod.gif

Actually for most shooting scenarios, you can get away with 24-70mm (for FX) and the 17-55mm 2.8 (for DX) and a fast 50 1.4 for low-light shooting.
I would recommend canon though, as their lenses has IS which i found important for dslr shoot to reduce the rolling shutter effect. Im not sure if Nikon's 24-70 or 17-55 2.8 has VR.
and instead of lenses, throw the rest of the money for accessories that will help you to get a better video:
a Rode videomic pro (for general on cam audio),
a set of Sennheiser G3 wireless clip-on mic (for interview set-ups),
a small LED Light that takes Sony NP style batteries (the battery will last for a few days for the LED),
a nice LCD viewfinder and some sort of basic rig for basic stabilization.
then you'd be ready for everything the producer throws at you.
Might sounds like a lot of things, but these are the things that a DSLR lacks where camcorders are not lol.

hope this helps smile.gif

Yesterday I was sort of leaning the 5dmk2 on the video monopod on me while I was unplugging from the walkie talkie mess of a cable and the 5dmk2 slipped. I could only stare as it dropped. As it was at its shortest length (the monopod) I would not be able to catch it without bumping into the car door. Anyways, the camera survived. the monopod had scratches. the RODE videomic shock mount didnt. of the four 'hooks' two of them bent (broken). Anyone know where would one able to find replacements for the plastic mount thingy?

Also, how normally would one transport the rode videomic? its so un-fitting to throw into the camera bag...

is it this little rubber that holds that suspend the mic?
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4435...ment_Bands.html

I just ordered them through BHphotovideo, Kenz you also have those. Those things are consumables, they would be broken by normal wear and tear anyway. Rode gave some spare rubber in the box.
But if you broke the plastic base, im not sure where you can find them. i dont think they sell the base alone.

I just put them in the rode box, and carry it around with me, the mic doesnt stand very well to transportation abuse.
One of the reason why im thinking to switch to videomic pro, beside videomic pro has smaller dimension.

The artifacts you're seeing on the fine details on the lines, flannel shirts, bricks, trees, sometimes tie (and basically everything that has fine pattern) is called Moiré or Aliasing.

this happens because your DSLR has to down-sample the image from the 18MP sensor to produce the 2MP (1080 full HD) footage.

It is the inherent weakness of all DSLR, even the 1DC. The only way to prevent it is... not to shoot anything with very fine pattern and details. Be on a lookout next time, the moire should be visible on the lcd screen of your camera.

cheers!

most of the questions that i get are technical question on how to operate the NLE itself. What button to press, and how to do this and that.
but then again, i teach using specific NLE (premiere pro).
sorry if i cant help.

What are the best methods to mix 1080i-30fps and 1080p-24fps? Can they even be blended together?

Is it also easy to mix 720p50 and 1080p24?

Any suggestion for a decent mic for audio recording? Dont cost more than 1k, prefer some where around 500-800.

Please give me some advice thank you.
