Kessler Crane summore wei tongue.gif How not to not poison like that  tongue.gif
That is sweet! biggrin.gif quick and portable tongue.gif Downside, a bit hard to do technical shots like panning and tilting... >.<
but it still gives a very sweet perspective smile.gif

Yes, i do really need a crane. My video style have been out dated since more and more videographers in Kuching owned a crane. So i guess, i need one unit.
I was torn between a rig,or a crane, since i cant afford both at one time. So i decided to get a crane instead.

My next target will be quad-copter multi-rotor heli with AEE Magicam. i wish i have money now. cry.gif brows.gif

hahaha means it's time to play with some new creative style tongue.gif Lol, yeah it was a good choice to go for a jib smile.gif... a rig can still always put on hold smile.gif

Hahaha... doing aerial videography is definitely gonna change the whole ball game fore sure tongue.gif
There's always a GoPro to sub over the AEE Magicam ma, plus you get a whole load of mountings for the same price .... depends on the sort of style you're aiming for. smile.gif I'd vote for the GoPro for the same price range plus with extra goodies provided smile.gif

better wait for gopro 3 ! tongue.gif 120fps... can do crazy slow mo  drool.gif

damn it both of you start to makes me looking over the review again. laugh.gif vmad.gif
For AEE & Go pro,i need at least 60ofs,just for some basic slow mo. Most important things is, the durability, battery life, and the field of view.

By the way guys, i am looking for a handy recorder, in order to use together with my Rode mic.
Please recommend me a better unit, but with good price. Such as the Tascam / Zoom H1.

Well, it depends what's your budget like and purpose. Tascam Vs Zoom, they both have very similar characteristics.
But why would you want to use your Rode mic (presumably 3.5mm output) to an external recorder? Post prod would be a pain to sync. Might as well link it straight to your 5dmk2. (Plus it's weird to lug around the Rodemic + external recorder, since the rodemic is made to be attached to the HDSLR.

But for RM400, the H1N can replace your rodemic in a way xD. But like i said, depends what sort of work you do, and how much of an option you need on an external recorder. the H1n and H4n both records at 16/24 bits from 44.1KHz til 96KHz... For me I'd go for the H4n, because of the kind of stuffs i do with it, since it can record 4 different audio sources.. 2 SXR 1/4" jacks.

All-in-all I think the H4N would suit you in general. I can't give you a verdict on which recorder/kind of recorder to get because it all depends what you need it for. smile.gif

and for Tascam, never used any of them before, so i can't comment much, but I'm basing on the assumption than both the Tascam and Zoom's functionality are similar smile.gif.

P.S. your rodemic outputs 3.5mm jacks or XLR jacks?
*
Sorry Vince, just to clarify. The Rode will always be on top my Camera. But the external recorder will be put next to the bride & groom, during the Solemnization ceremony. In case, i cant get a very close shot to them,so i need a clear voice.

Plus, i like H1 & H4N,since they can have headphone jack, for me to know the sound i am recording in.

My rode comes with 3.5mm jack. laugh.gif

Best explanation is... Imagine Holding a nice Blue Pilot G2 pen to write.... <-- that's the H4n...
now Imagine holding just the Blue G2 Pen's refill to write... <-- that's the H1n...

Both ink still produce the same smooth strokes smile.gif

The H1n is a very good budget recorder smile.gif just don't tap or touch the unit itself once recording via it's on-board mics.... it can capture each touch of the unit if touched (gettid? lol)

==================EDIT====================
OH OK OK now i get it! got confused when you said "Used together with my Rode Mic" ma.. hahaha
yeah, it's small and can easily be concealed! That'd work great! in that case, the H1n would do you good! smile.gif If you find a nice mountin point then you can probably capture good audio at very very high bitrate like 24bit! and a nice 90 degree capturing angle form it's condenser mic smile.gif lol tongue.gif (for noise treatment la in post)
*
Thank you so much for the explanation Vince! you're the man! I am confirmed going to KL end of this month,IF you and i both are free, then we can meet up and chat more! drool.gif

Ill go to Directphoto 1st,see my girlfriend 2nd,and meet you up 3rd,only if we manage. smile.gif

Yup like what VinceCheong mentioned, the H1 body is very sensitive as the build is very plastic-y. For a normal audio recording, I would suggest the H2n. Only around RM540. Go for H4n only for the xlr input.
*
Can i use any of the Zoom mic, mount it on top of my camera, and sync the audio with my camera while recording?

Simple LED panels from china would suffice most of the time.
*
Correct. We only need the light. In terms uf build quality,it comes 2nd. Unlike normal flash.
LED Panels is only to produce ambient light.

Sorry not sure about that as I'm using m43 camera(no external audio inputs) to record videos. What I normally do is to play both recorder and video and snap my fingers or clap my hands at the beginning. Similar function as film slate/clapperboard. Then at home I will sync the audio+video using audio editing software, using the snap sound+me snapping finger(video) as the entry point. Got this from youtube tutorials. You might be able to find it.

rode mic and whatever camera add-on mic is only useful when the camera is always pointing to the audio source direction and distance variation is at a minimal.

other situations, still best to have audio recording device to do the job.
heavy?

*
Not really heavy,i only use it for my Jib Crane. biggrin.gif

Rode mic,is a shotgun type / directional mic, that's why always need to point it at the subject.

havent had any experience with follow focus..
just manually turn the focus ring.. *sigh*
*
There is 2 guys in Lowyat.net selling used follow focus. Can try PM them.

VinceCheong - Is selling LanParte for RM3k ++
And the other one is selling RM400 for a cheaper version brand.

For 1st time buying,i advise you to get just a basic unit (cheap version). Unless you plan to use it for a long time, then invest for a better unit. smile.gif

Anyone can recommend me a good monopod (Budget RM300) and a steady video tripod that can mount and operate track without hiccup
*
Get a Manfrotto 681B HD Professional Monopod. Should be less than RM300. For a better unit, always get Manfrotto 561BHDV + 701HDV Fluid head.

how about a suggestion on a 'light' fluid head?
to mount on the slider..
cause the one im using now is quite heavy and makes the sliding, a bit jerky..
*
I am using Manfrotto 701Hdv for my slider, crane, monopod, tripod. So far the best for me.

easier to edit as a newbie (syncing2 problem lah ni)

Try Sony UWP-V1. Costs about 17++. Senheisser is also good to go for,but its kind of expensive.
