Hey guys, I'm building a very simple dc generator. However the voltage output is too low, below 200mV. How do I increase this to light up an led? Attached thumbnail(s)

Increase the speed.
Reduce the right hand side friction that support the rotor.
Or change the motor to lower rpm type.

QUOTE(falcon16 @ Nov 3 2015, 03:39 PM) Hey guys, I'm building a very simple dc generator. However the voltage output is too low, below 200mV. How do I increase this to light up an led? By Faraday's Law the voltage is proportional to the number of windings and the rate of the change in the magnetic field. So you can add windings, increase winding rotational speed or/and use a stronger magnet at the same rate to increase the voltage.

Ooo this thread isn't too active...
Anyways I'm having problems with my soldering iron(s). I'm actually not sure if its a problem with the iron or the tip piece. I found that when I put on the new tip it will sort of 'burn' out or oxidise and can't take on solder. I've been looking at a bunch of soldering iron care guides/videos and how you should tin the tip.
I try to tin the tips as soon as the iron can melt solder however the tip still burns out. I don't think its the soldering iron temperature because the temperature is only around 400deg. Is this due to low quality tips?

Get the solder temperature up, clean with wet sponge / brass then only tin the solder tip.

Yeah I frequently clean the tip with damp sponge, but even so, halfway soldering the tip seems to just stops taking solder and cannot be tinned anymore. Then I have to change the tip. And it happens again...

As far as i know, my soldering tip will start to oxidize (or black out) if the temp is over 450C when i left it there, so what i do is take a negative screwdriver and scratch it away. As for quality goes, i have no idea at all, and it might be low quality as well, since i just simply buy it from jln pasar and it has no brand. Last time i got another cheapo soldering iron with its tip completely black out and won't take any solder, i sand away the black stuff with a sand paper, then wrap a few turn of solder wire on it, and turn it on and wait for it to heat itself up until completely melt, then dip the tip into flux. I repeat a few time, now the iron works again.

does this count as necrobumping?
anyone know where to buy IR Receiver sensor with 3 pins in Ipoh? Accidentally bought the 2 pin one instead of the 3 pin.
Don't want to pay rm 8 poslaju for only an item that is 80 cents.

Anybody can recommend me a basic 12-digit calculator but with clicky buttons?
I guess I'm looking for the same type of clicky keys like in those mechanical keyboards.

I am new to this topic, previously I post under Codemaster.
Recently I start playing with microcontroller board, like Arduino and Microbit. Raspberry Pi Pico is very new microcontroller board, but only costs USD 4, way cheaper than Arduino Uno (USD 23). Does anyone here play and learn with Internet of Things?
Does anyone here a regular customer of Cytron? (They also have a technical forum, but inactive like this topic)
