We bought this Daewoo unit.

Direct drive, no belt. And we got it down to RM2800 incl Najib's tax & delivery, which is friggin' awesome for a 10kg washer dryer.

Cannot lansi like the bigger brands ppl like to brag abt, but with the money we saved we bought a Beko dishwasher (RM2000)... kakakaka...

That's two white goods, under our budget of RM5000. Topped up a bit more and got an Electrolux microwave + oven unit. Hampalang sapu...

Hi,

Anyone using heat pump dryer? can really save a lot electricity compared to condenser and vented type? I was told that heated dryer should not be stacked up because it's too heavy. Planning to buy electrolux. Any comments?

Thanks
*
It saves the most compared to other types. Panasonic has one that is heat pump with inverter which can dry at lower temperature. Dryers can be stacked with a stacking kit which Electrolux should carry. Perhaps the precaution is to drain the water from the clothes drying directly rather than capture it in the condensate cassette. Download the manual for the model and see the stacking instructions if it says anything.

I'm not too fussy abt washing machines... but since this thing is a washer dryer, it's a bit of a novelty to me.

Coming from top loaders my whole life, I'm shocked at how little water it uses. I converted the shower area in my spare bathroom (which nobody uses anyway) into a laundry room where I installed the washing machine...at first I thought it wasn't as quiet as I thought it would be, but it could be that the sound is amplified by the enclosed space.

Uses direct drive, so no rubber pulleys to start slipping & squealing after 10 years. Got an inverter motor to save electricity. 10kg load capacity means it's way more practical & realistic than those puny 7kg types. The dryer function works like a bloody charm - you can set the temp, and it can get hot enough to completely dry a load of towels.

Overall, it isn't fancy with none of the bells and whistles of models costing twice as much. But it works exactly as advertised and for RM2800 for a 10kg washer/dryer, I'm pretty damn happy.

CAVEAT : IF YOU ARE INSTALLING A FRONT LOADER YOURSELF, MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE ALL THE DRUM RETAINING LUGS PRIOR TO USING...!!!!

Our reno contractor installed ours after remodelling the bathroom, we didn't know they didn't remove em. During first time use, the bugger was rattling loudly & vibrating very badly, shaking itself apart on spin cycle. We thought we got a lemon! After RTFM, I realized the drum retaining lugs were not removed. These lugs fixed the suspended drum in place so that it would not bounce around & damage the innards during transportation & shipping, which also meant that the drum would transfer all the spin cycle rattles directly to the chassis. Removing them freed the drum so that it could float freely, allowing the drum springs & dampening weight to properly soak up the vibration & noise.

Thanks for the heads up. Good stuff. This machine up a few notches in wish list. I like the way you layout the laundry area in the unused bathroom.

How does the clothes feel vs what you've used before? Does it vents heat into the bathroom when in dryer mode?

The back panel seemed like not properly secured, so they replaced a new unit. Then installer did something wrong with the stacking kit, poked a hole into the reservoir. Come again to fix it.

During that period, they didn't tell me Electrolux got their original stacking kit with tray.  bangwall.gif

Cause the stacking kit I bought was hack job sold by electrical store.  bangwall.gif  bangwall.gif

Feel your pain man. The manufacturer seems to be gracious cos it seems to me they could have every reason not to honour warranty in that case using parts other than that engineered to work with it.

You don't have to bend. If you're renovating, you can ask a contractor to build a concrete platform for your front loader so that you will never hv to bend down ever.

As for the mouldy rubber, prevention is the best cure. Once or twice a year when you clean the internal filter, give the rubber part a good wipe down.[attachmentid=9474899]

Bro, for the longevity of the appliance, install a window mounted extractor fan and turn it on whilst washing and off it after an hour or two. This is a bathroom and it's enclosed. Humidity kills appliances.

The window is right above the washing machine and it's always open. The folding door is always open. We're on the 17th floor at the top of a hill, so the wind blows straight through to create plenty of ventilation.

This bathroom is seldom used, which is why I placed the machine there - the shower is for guest emergencies only and therefore has never been used. Sometimes guests would come in to take a pee and wash their hands, and that's just about it.

So 98% of the time, this bathroom is dry. The mirror has never steamed up.

Most of the time I wash using cold water. Once in a while I'd use the dryer function if there's a sufficient load of towels & jeans.
*
Ah, that's good. Very optimal esp toilet location and washer dryer placement. Not many homes have that. I'd to say I'm already green with envy 😆 about your green ventilation solution.

Hi, i just bought electrolux eww14113 washer dryer. Question is, is it normal when drying job. Drain pump keep running continuously every <2 minutes?
*
Yes, for a washer dryer. It's condensing the moisture present in the clothes which needs to drain out. To be sure check the manual.

For a condenser dryer or the more efficient heat pump dryer, there is a storage cassette which needs to be emptied out or optionally the drain pipe in which case what you describe should happen.

For a vented dryer, the hot moisture laden air needs to be vented out which means it would be placed in a balcony or ducted to a vent to the outside.

There is another type, gas dryer. Using heat from flame combustion to dry off the cloth. Not common in Malaysia household but more for commercial/industrial use. In the US, gas dryer is very common since it uses less electrical energy. Workflow similar to the conventional vented dryer. Instead depending on heater element only, flame is produced to speed up the drying process. Result : Quick drying process, save water and save electricity. I found only one brand that brings in gas dryer to Malaysian household market, and only selected store selling it.

This one?

Thanks halcyon27 for pointing me out. I don't know that Rinnai produces Gas dryer with a decent price tag too.

However, I was referring to SpeedQueen brand gas dryer, which i bought together with SQ washer as a package.
*
Good to know. What's the model of the SQ dryer and how does it perform? It's not much different than a regular vented dryer then?

If it's wet, could it be that humidity is high around the laundry area. Remember that condenser works like AC compressor also. It condenses the hot air to have the excess moisture removed whilst recycling the heat to dry the clothes.

Hey guys I just got myself a Samsung washer dryer https://www.lazada.com.my/products/samsung-...s112064399.html

Under synthetic run the wash only function takes about 2 hours ish. At one time my wash and dry went up to 5 hours. Is this normal? Much longer than my old top loader
*
Normal. Use the timer function. That adds convenience.

today electrolux technician came to fix my dryer's door so i asked him about heat pump type. he says not recommended to stack heat pump type dryer and if need to fix it, owner will have to get their own people to bring it down before they can fix it. The tech from electrolux will not carry it down to the floor if needed. Its too heavy!
*
Thought your place could place it side by side but have to admit it looks neater stacked up.

A technician came and fix my machine, electrolux has 2 years warranty on all parts, after getting it fixed, 2nd run on my combo when drying the machine went kong yet again and it developed a new sort of noise. Will highlight the issue with electrolux again and see how it goes.
*
Can record the noise alone? Video optional.

Which part is the new noise? There is a constant humming that sounded like a car idling with AC running. Then there's static but can barely make out a little sizzling sound.

Its the constant humming noise, never appeared until the dryer went bad.

Most of the time the machine is very silent unless when its spinning at 1400rpm producing a jet whirring noise.
*
At which phase does this noise occur? Filling water, wash cycle, drain and spin or drying? Sounds like either a sump pump or the condenser for drying.

Lol! Called the midea HQ and ask for dealer contact around my area (told them we are looking for 8kg mdc8800 dryer). Turned out all the contacts they gave don't carry dryers, just smaller midea appliances.

Only TBC in my area has midea 7kg.
*
Daewoo has an 7 kg dryer.

In my disappointment, I forgot to ask. Would you recommend the vented or the condenser type?
I am thinking vented, but I will have to make a hole on the rack I put above washing machine area to vent out from the window.
*
In our weather and level of humidity, by far vented models are more reliable. I've seen too many discarded condenser units at washing machine repair places and it's not very reassuring if getting condenser are a wise choice.
