my family got 'the' elantra..b4 use city..damn the ride n handling is far more superior..only the handling is a bit on comfort side..order the car 2 days from official launch april n got the car in early May..    Many say this car  is overpriced. Wait till new civic come n all will start bash the ugly civic

nice compilation bro.. but frankly, please avoid using ShellFuelsave. Their "supposedly" fuel-saving alternative is only for long-distance driving.

In city driving, the petrol really has MINIMAL pickup    causing us to stomp on the pedal even harder to get more acceleration - end up burning up more precious fuel.

Shell V-power RON97 however, is a totally different story altogether.  i'm using that for my run-in now.

I have learned from my mistake and bought the car I enjoyed. Have been driving the car 1 week now and made me realised how lousy the so called good 2nd hand value cars were.

Bro, I'm conforted with the fact thta more and more malaysians are opening up their eyes and not just listen to their parents/grandparents to go back and buy T & H.

Those cars were never known for their 2nd hand value.

Now the T & H has started to feel the impact of how aggressive Korean want to compete with them. If we see the others country, Korean car has been widely accept and have a good review of Design, Reliable and Value for $$$. I got a few friends whose working in T & H. H is doubt that why the Sonata is more popular than their Accord with long waiting list. T has accepted the fact of "Watch out! Korean is catching up!" Korean wanted to catchup everything. The good example is their mobile industry, you can see how aggressive Korean deal with the industry. Another change that maybe all of us not realised is the TV drama. More than 5 years ago Japanese dramas are very popular but these few years Korean dramas has the greater ratio in the broadcast. (Sorry out of topic  )

wsmw, ignore these ppl who suddenly join thread and condemn ppl. We know many of us here for a while already. We go to same branch buy from same SA. And the SA knows how many Ts I owned b4 for the past 10 yrs so I am qualified to compare. That's y Malaysian mentality is like this. Classic example. Once shoot T&H only, ppl from other threads come and kacau. Who knows, maybe even salesman from the 2 company.

I saw a few post back that 666devil say to PM him if anyone want to buy elantra.

Why would I want to condemn elantra as I have one now.

I just state my opinion, everyone is entitled to their.
if 666 cannot accept criticism to elantra, so be it.

got my car for 1 month already, clocked 46++km, need to change the oil filter for 5000km next week, but only filter, since already using fully synthetic oil...

FC : High way @ 130-140km/h, around RM 0.145/km....
       Normal drive (70% highway, 30% city) around RM 0.17-0.18/km..

issues:
1. Radio - probably not the one I want... really bad reception, maybe becoz of the antenna?
2. GPS - lagging, I use papago with my handphone better, should be the processor of the HU
3. Rattling sound - now can hear some very light sound from the back, not sure where it comes from, only notice when player is MUTE
4. Handling - Still floaty, and seems like steering vibrate a little stronger than expected between 110km/h to 120km/h, above 130km/h, cant feel anymore
5. steering sound, when turn fast, can hear like belt sound, saw this complaint from others also

Overall, still love my 1.8....

Thks for being a witness. We are in this thread long enough. No need to explain ourselves. And I have always openly show my hate on ppl using 2nd hand value to deter others from buying good cars (VW, fiesta, forte, hyundai etc). And a damn jackass who were never here, pop in mention tat word again. So I screw that word and was accused a salesman. Tats y need to defense.
All who I have recommend my SA here, knows at I don't want anything to do with it. Just give SA name, number and ask contact him direct. I already done deal with him long ago and satisfied with discount + service. So dowan to be middleman. No commission also.

This my 1st posting after collected my car. I bought my Elantra 1.8 from Palm Motor Puchong. Overall they are good dealer with supportive salesperson.

My opinion:-

NVH: Very good with minimal engine noise. But the 17" tyre noise is quite noticable above 70km/hr and quite loud on certain type of road. Wind noise is almost none even at 140km/hr (tried only twice going until 140km/hr).   

Comfort: Superb with excellent and ergonomic driver's seat. 

FC: Decent. About 500km per 45L tank. Travel daily from Puchong to KL. 60~70% slow traffic. Average speed clocked is 25km/h (since new). Current car total mileage 1500km. 17" tyre pressure 220-230kPa. 

Handling: Good and responsive. The still new 17" tyres help with having good grip on the road.

A/C system: Auto a/c works very well to cool the cabin in very short period. The a/c which always maintain minimal 10% outside air causing outside odor (esp white fumes frm immediate front car) noticable. But the smell normally goes off quite fast. 

Unhappy with:
Audio system;
Engine become a bit noisier at low rev after 1,000km service replacing semi-syn oil (SC reported to HSDM technician, will send in the car next week);
Not a good feeling when going over hump (due to lighter rear part?)

Overall it is a nice car to drive around. Donwside is dunno somehow engine become noisier at low rev after 1st service.

No problem with dashboard noise.
But after I sent my car for cushion coating the workers push the front left seat to max backward (which i din noticed at 1st). That created obvious rattling noise (maybe the seat is not locked to its place or just can't be pushed to max backward). After I adjust it to frontward all the noise gone.
You may check your tyre pressure. From factory they put it 240 - 250 kPa which is good for FC but not good for ride. I myself prefer 220 - 230 kPa. 
My concern now is why on earth the engine become noisier after 1k service. SC say it may caused by a/c system. Just wait and see next week when HSDM technician involve.

So far i saw 2 white Elantra on the road already. Yesterday evening one parking near food court @ Klang area. Just now on the way heading Jalan Kuala Selangor another one (Malay lady driver drive carefully).

Bro Stevenycs, just want to check with u regarding your registration number. Which state u bought? I heard that WP plate must register within 1 month after we bought it. But i also going to buy it another 2 weeks, now facing problwm with the validity to register because still need to wait for minimum another 2 months +. Worried JPJ will take back the registration number. I heard we can extend it by writting to JPJ inform car still waiting to deliver. My SA said runner can made it become no expiry date to register but need to pay extra RM150 on top of normal picking running number fee. Can anyone whose ever deal with this problem advice how to extend the standard 1 month validity. Tq.

The cost of the parts seems very decent to me.
The engine sounds a little different after this 10W40 oil change. Not sure what kind of oil they put in at factory. Power wise is about the same. Gonna pour some MoS2 inside soon.

That is semi lo. Fully syn will be RM200+ liao. I will use fully during the next service
FOC labor is from the user manual, something like vouchers. 1k and 5k service labor is FOC, only need to pay for oil/parts.

If use fully syn oil, change interval will be 10k. No problem one.
Hyundai branch only use semi (5k) and fully (10K). There is no mineral option, so the semi looks a bit not worth it.
Take the fully syn, save some time going there waiting service, and save some labor and oil filter cost.

i booked 1.8 creamy white yesterday 26/5 at hyundai glenmarie.
initially went to puchong showroom, SA said no test drive (how come sell car no test drive one!).

Jimin auto in sunway is open on weekends. Full day on saturday, forgot whether they're open on sunday.

So hard to find a SC that opens on sunday.. haha

still confuse to choose which color...hehe..
booking santorinini but it's available another 4 months...now planning to change others color like black or white since less than 1 month can get it..still thinking worth it for waiting too long or find new color available?

I got my car for 4 days now. i still cant get over how smooth and quiet the engine is. i saw a Preve on the road yesterday which has a newer plate then mine but the engine sound is so rough and noisy.
