That was my biggest mistake when I testdrove the Preve. I tried to compare with the merce.... I couldn't find one thing that the preve beat the merce. The problem is, when I read the preview by the media, they said the NVH is very quite almost mute...so I put to much expectation to the car.

Anyway, compared with the merce, the merce engine very quite (understanable because it is V6), the merce engine more power (because its 2.6L), the merce is very spacious (because its D segment), the merce boot very big, the interior is 100% soft touch (except wood panel).

The only thing the Preve can beat is... perhaps the fuel consumption and maintenance.

I have to trade-in the merce since it is already 10 years old... and the wear and tear starts to come into effect. The normal service cost me minimum RM 1k, one wheel cost me RM600, roadtax per year cost me RM1,200. These are all normal item. The wear and tear parts cost me bomb... (e.g. one side disc brake cost me RM 500.00, a pair of wiper cost me RMm 300.00 etc)

Therefore, I have to sell the car before the cost of ownership get into me....besides, I can keep some cash after paying Preve.

haih..everytime i sit in a vios, my view for this preve becomes more positive lol..i cant imagine why the heck would someone in their right mind would buy a vios over anything.

Brand. That is all.

Anyone find the big chromed key hole on the boot an eyesore? 
I'd rather they copy the Honda by making the hole small and hide it in tail lamp or even hide it inside the Proton logo...

I know lots of ppl would be rather keep the old merc, reliable work horse, kudos for you. Hope you didn't get much banter for downgrading

The merc is very reliable, but the longer I wait, the more it will drop (value) and I'm afraid I will spent more. Besides, normally, people will not keep car more than 10 years old as the maintenance cost cannot be justified.

But, one thing for sure, once you go contis you will never look back. I guess, Proton (Preve in particular) is the closer you can get to the contis.

Korean got their own plus points, very aggressive styling, very modern, which is very good to some people, they like new stuff

Japanese play it safe, which is good as well, sticking to what they do best, reliability.

Conti is always conti, plain ol simple and boring but like Japanese, sticking to what they do best, as long as it works.

Proton, no plus points, always copy, push start button also copy. Outlook also copy Siti. Forever copy

from someone who is driving a mercs is putting his eyes on preve, proton would be proud of this mercs is too expensive to maintain, cos it is a luxury, heck, even my fren sold his volvo s60 off, maintenance is killing, 1 wheel bearing got sound, change whole thing cost few thousands, later this tat got problem, change again, few more thousands, total repair nearly 10k.. then his father sold it can bought him a mazda 3, consider a downgrade right? but what for maintaining a car that eat u more in the long run. It's good that u are willing to consider to go for something lower than mercs for lowering cost, cos normally ppl driving mercs, no matter how, "die die" also wan keep the car, for status purpose and wow effect lol..
