The black is very very nice. looks more sporty dan garang.... I've seen once in one of the showroom... and never regretted that I book for black.

hmm.... I booked during the Proton power of 1 at bukit jalil, but so far no news from my SA.

you should be expecting the car very soon since you book during the event. You're one of the early birds.

wah, downgrade ni, merc very comfy tongue.gif

That was my biggest mistake when I testdrove the Preve. I tried to compare with the merce.... I couldn't find one thing that the preve beat the merce. The problem is, when I read the preview by the media, they said the NVH is very quite almost mute...so I put to much expectation to the car.

Anyway, compared with the merce, the merce engine very quite (understanable because it is V6), the merce engine more power (because its 2.6L), the merce is very spacious (because its D segment), the merce boot very big, the interior is 100% soft touch (except wood panel).

The only thing the Preve can beat is... perhaps the fuel consumption and maintenance.

I have to trade-in the merce since it is already 10 years old... and the wear and tear starts to come into effect. The normal service cost me minimum RM 1k, one wheel cost me RM600, roadtax per year cost me RM1,200. These are all normal item. The wear and tear parts cost me bomb... (e.g. one side disc brake cost me RM 500.00, a pair of wiper cost me RMm 300.00 etc)

Therefore, I have to sell the car before the cost of ownership get into me....besides, I can keep some cash after paying Preve.

Your Merce W210 E240?

May can compare to w203 c class kot... brows.gif
*
It is W211... first batch (2002). But I really respect the merce quality. After 10 years, you ca'tn hear any noise what so ever from the car. The engine is soo quiet ( I believe V6 could be the reason...as perdana V6 also is very quiet as well), nt rattling sound (maybe very tiny), very good cruising speed, very very good suspension (comfortable), very good engine power.... mind you, this is 10 years old car.

But, maybe its the old mercedes, I don't know about the new one..is it as good as the old one?

And one more thing, I like Preve because it has almost everything the merce has such as auto light, auto rain sensor, follow me home light, remote boot lid. But preve is lacking remote (auto) closing boot, parktronic, remote window, memory seat, auto steering adjust, auto kerb view side mirror.

CFE Premium lor...

The NVH is good but its the sound when moving from standstill... It goes off after that. Mmmm...
*
I guess, some testdrive units have higher noise. I've tested 4 different testdrive units, two was quiet and the other two was not and one was very very loud.

I know lots of ppl would be rather keep the old merc, reliable work horse, kudos for you. Hope you didn't get much banter for downgrading
*
To be honest, I'm still contemplating. That's the reason I testdrove the car 4 times already and planning to do more tomorrow. The merc is very reliable, but the longer I wait, the more it will drop (value) and I'm afraid I will spent more. Besides, normally, people will not keep car more than 10 years old as the maintenance cost cannot be justified.

But, one thing for sure, once you go contis you will never look back. I guess, Proton (Preve in particular) is the closer you can get to the contis.

lol... its not really die die though, its the comfortness n stability that you cant really get in other makes (for me at least)...

after my test drive, big wow on the handling! now headache...😓
*
Totally agree with the handling. This is another area the merc can't beat the Preve. The merc handling is good but not as good Preve. This is one area the Proton can boast about.

Congrats for those who got the car already. Hoping that anyone can check the engine noise/sound at low RPM. For me, the sluggish is okay since S mode can overcome that....but, I really hope that the engine sound can be reduce more.

Bro Mat97, what is the reason for the engine noise ? is it due to the lack of sound proofing ? but, there is one in the engine bay. Is it same with other car ?

about cvt whining, try to confirm with method i tell u just now. The whining will become lesser when its matured.

Yup, still can long drive even during break in period, just that if can, avoid hilly area. But if cannot, its still ok, just dont drive beyond the limit.

If not mistaken, the new timing belt change procedure for iafm+ n cfe engine is 6 years @ 120k km, which ever come first. Try to confirm during ur 1st service. But the fead belt need to change every 100k km.
*
Thanks Mat79 for your explanation

I believe the engine roaring sound + CVT whining is the one that protrude to the cabin during hard acceleration. I'm not used to CVT system and CFE engine, so maybe that is the reason the sound a bit louder or perhaps because the car is still new (some SA said that is the reason). Any other car that behave the same (the engine sound).

Anyway, since I've testdrove 4 different units, I realized the sound is different. on two cars, the sound were loud and the other two were reasonable. One more thing, in both cars with the loud sound, the dashboard seems rattle a bit during hard acceleration... is it normal ? what cause the rattling ?

downhill, as the same as normal atm it also has downhill sensor, just if u need better traction, then s mode is better in giving engine braking. I think kristof is the one who has better explaination. Im just explain in plain layman term coz im also a layman :-). He can explain in technical details.

Yes, i know how malaysian feel about prtn, but failure is a steep to success rite. Remember this, no matter what u compare, u need to remember, prtn only start learning to develop car from scratch start with waja in 2000, so, preve is what they had learned for 12 years. That is only 1/3 age of hyundai's own develop cars and kia's. Where is hyundai n kia when they are 12 years developing cars?where are they 30 years ago?and where are they 12 years ago when prtn start develop 1st model(waja)?

Many people say that proton are slowspoke, but if u do compare, they r not slowspoke, they are even catching up with those who develop cars 30 years earlier than them, even some already more than 50 n even more than 100 years.

So, have a good nite guys.

This.

I've been telling this and fighting about this with some of my friends/forummers several years ago. If we compare, the rate Proton manage to come up with their own design either chasis or powertrain is the fastest among other manufacturers....and they manage to do that with small economy of scale.

about the aircond whistle, have you checked all your aircond ventilator is fully open or not ? My car sometimes has the whistle sound and the reason will always be the rear aircond ventilator not fully opened. (but the Preve has not rear ventilator).

Tomorrow I try more. Not much actually I took this car at Sri Petaling Branch. from there travel to MRR2 kesas towards cheras area only.
Still the same...during standstill is really hard to move the car. At traffic light and during jam is a bit slow to move infront when people move already then only my car start moving. I tried everything in D mode. Last time i use to press little bit for my light daihatsu charade to move this one need to press more. brake and all good. no wobbling feel. steering wheel align good. Is just i not so use with such big car. I use to my small daihatsu car this one parking paralel i dont dare to do it yet. just the straight parking "butt go in style"
Go into my house gate also i scare last time park two cars. my car and my father car now park my car only.

Anyway all travel speed is around 60 ~ 80 ~ 90 max 95 i think. The SA says press slow slow. During the first 1000 km cannot press kau kau everything still tight tight. so range around 80 to 100 is ok.
*
I think the sluggishness feeling will need sometime to get used to it. Once you adapt the driving style, you won't feel sluggish anymore. This remind me whan I first started to drive Merc car. Before that I used to drive japs car which is light and easy to move. The first time I drive merce (c class at that time), I feel the car won't move. I press pedal, the car seems reluctant to move. I need to press bit more. Than I said...damn, this car so heavy. But once I got used to it, i don't feel any different.... but, when I drive japs car, I feel that the car can fly.

Btw, I need to know the engine sound. Maybe because its new, it will sound bit harsh... perhaps the engine/metal is not fully lubricated (agak-agak aje).

no. what i'm asking is, is each door has its own lock?
say i'm sitting at back, then i need to go to toilet, when the car stops, i dont need to wait for driver unlock the door, i can unlock the back door and opens it...
i didnt notice this when i go "molest" the car on its launch day...until my colleagues told me..
*
there is no unlock/lock button on each door.

But, to unlock the car (for every door), you have to pull the latch twice, then the door will unlock.
