OK, they have flat('ish) torque... with load, electric motors will generate an almost fixed amount of torque depending on the current being fed into it ... so, it depends if the manufacturer will vary the current being fed into the motor to control the power output...

as for petrol combustion... it requires the right amount of air fuel mixture to produce or in other words maximize the fuel being fed into the combustion chamber...  dumping an equal amount of spray into the combustion chamber at 1,000rpm does not mean it will produce torque equivalent when the same is done at 3,000rpm simply because the combustion chamber does not have that much vacuum to suck in that much air at that point and full combustion of the petrol spray does not occur...

hence, the torque should be flatter than a petrol engine in comparison...

Preve boost its torque through turbocharging. In term of peak torque, yes definitely a potential. However to regulate the output of a turbo is more difficult compared to tuning an electric motor (for torque) vis-a-vis with internal combustion engine.

By the way, potential peak torque for Insight & Preve is almost similar, around 200NM.

flatish torque.. lol.. ? DC electric motors have decreasing torque curve, and certainly not flat.. as i ask before you got study engineering wan or not? hmm.gif

and as for current jap hybrids, they even have very unique characteristics..

Previously, it was 100% import duty exemption and 50% excise duty exemption, Budget 2011 made it 100% exemption for BOTH import duty and excise duty. The deal, for hybrid cars with 2.0 litre engines and below, was supposed to expire on Dec 31, 2011.

That means luxury hybrid cars would be tentatively priced at RM286,000 to RM312,000 for the Lexus RX450h, RM548,000 to RM598,000 for Lexus LS600h L and RM396,000 to RM432,000 for Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid.

even without taxes, the selling price is still crazy xpensive. this this not normal ppl punya price range... this is one reason i actually support the taxes in place and instead subsidize petrol price....

just test drive preve n booked one today. in my opinion, if the car is well taken care of, then is no problem. the only thing i feel not good is the initial torque is very slow one unlike the honda i drive. overall its a decent car. too bad cannot change the interrior to leather seat or what ever
