QUOTE(gannicholas @ Aug 4 2012, 10:00 PM)
Happy Saturday everyone
Shoulders day, i started my workout by running on the tredmill
2 minutes 5km/h slow jog

30 seconds 15 incline 8km/h run --> 30 mountain climbers ( 15 one side ) --> 30 seconds 15 incline 4km/h
30 seconds 15 incline 10km/h run --> 30 mountain climbers ( 15 one side ) --> 30 seconds 15 incline 4km/h
30 seconds 15 incline 12km/h run --> 30 mountain climbers ( 15 one side ) --> 30 seconds 15 incline 4km/h
30 seconds 15 incline 16km/h run --> 30 mountain climbers ( 15 one side ) --> 30 seconds 15 incline 4km/h

Celeb Fitness PT approached me and told me that the way i'm warming up is too intense
Apparently i'm burning muscle mass instead of fats
He suggested me to set my incline to 15 and jog at 5km/h for 5-10 minutes
Problem is, i'm still flabby. I THINK i have a roughly estimated of 18% of body fat
It's like, those kind of bodies that looks good with shirt on, looks like crap without shirt on
Yeah.... smile.gif
So, what do you guys think?
*
Find a video in youtube title Blood & Guts. It is about two person who is being trained by Dorian Yates. See how they warm up.

hi guys,
currently im over 80kg, maybe 84-85KG and 180CM

in terms of BMI, im slightly over and i wished to reduce to 79KG and below,

i would like some advice on how to shed those extra fats away and diets.

I thought of getting a skipping rope to help ..

will there bee any use if I use skipping rope ?

At gyms, i saw fat burners pills which supposed to burn fats, are those too good to be true ?
*
Calorie in Vs Calorie Out. You burn more calorie than you consume, you lose weight. You take more than you burn, you increase your weight. No need for fat burners, just control your diet and do some proper exercises.

I do understand that, but I am actually training for those event that I mentioned... when there's is so many cardio, there's no way I can slit in any weight training for that.

I am not really targeting fat loss, just hope to cut down on weight..
*
So what kind of weight do you want to lose? Fat loss is the best option. You lose your muscles mass which also can contribute to weight loss but you won't have enough strength to pull yourself for rock climbing right?

I came to realize that i should do Shoulders after Chest, cause i might work on my chest if i were to do dumbell military press
Any other recommendations?

Yup. I am changing my lifestyle now. Currently every morning I swim while evening I run. I plan to hit the gym after swimming. Soon, I will be taking mass gain. Should I take it twice daily after my activities in the morning and evening?
*
Read more about proper nutrition and you'll know that consuming mass gainers won't give you the expected result without proper undefstanding on how the bod works.

QUOTE(gannicholas @ Aug 18 2012, 06:36 PM)
Dont take supper, really. Stop eating after 8pm. Supper is one of the reasons why people gain weight. If you're too hungry, grab a piece of apple or perhaps ONLY a cup of milk. Bread = Carbs. Butter = High in Calories whereas Sugar = Sugar. The main key to losing weight is to cut on carbs and sugar. You should try sleeping early too!
*
Sorry to say that your statement is 100% wrong. It is not about the meal timing but it is the amount of food you are consuming that makes you fat. You can eat 1200 kcal on your supper but.if you aint reaching your calorie maintenance yet, you ain't going to become fat.

You eat more than your calorie maintenance, you'll grow fat. That is all.

What do you mean proper nutrition? I take my meals as usual.
*
Since you had to ask, then you need to read. Go to bodybuilding.com and under the nutrition section, there is thread about calculation micro.

Hmm so whats the problem?? Is there any solution for it?? I need advice here... Thanks  biggrin.gif
*
The problem would be caused by eating more than what you should be eaten. Eat less and combine them with proper exercises and you should start to see the weight decrease.

Hmm breakfast i'll eat more... but lunch and dinner i'll eat lesser... and im trying to reduce my supper, will it work?? Oh yeah btw is it ok to exercise during midnight like futsal etc?
*
Well, if you read more about Basal Metabolic Rate and calorie maintenance, you will know that it is not about meal timing (ie breakfast, supper etc) but it is all about the calorie you've consume. If you already reach your calorie maintenance during your lunch, whatever you consume for dinner and supper doesn't matter the amount will contribute to your increase of weight.

Doesn't matter about the exercises timing.

QUOTE(ibrahim_1109 @ Aug 20 2012, 03:45 PM)
there is some effect . lets say you just took supper, then less than an hour, you straight go tidur. It is bad. Doctors advice that we should not take any food 3 hours prior to bedtime.
*
Why is that it is good for bodybuilder to consume food especially slow digesting protein just before sleep? Increasing muscle recovery ain't a bad effect.

QUOTE(ibrahim_1109 @ Aug 20 2012, 03:58 PM)
Anyhow, it is not advisable to eat supper before bedtime. Most people that take supper are a bit on the heavy side.
*
So it is the matter of how not why. How people tend to take the supper, not why the supper is bad. But then, it still boils down to the food consumption. You eat more than you should, you'll gain weight. Doesn't matter if you reach the border during lunch or dinner or supper. If you plan you meal throughout the day, then it shouldn't be a problem.

QUOTE(leaF @ Aug 20 2012, 08:48 PM)
the only logical thinking is when body in rest mode , they didn't work as effective during daytime ( burning foods) so I think the body wont use that much energy during ur body rest time thus bmr during tat time is low . correct me if I am wrong. smile.gif
*
BMR doesn't change IMO. It comes from the amount of muscle mass, fat mass, etc2 in the body. The calorie maintenance @ TDEE is calculated based on daily activity + weekly exercises so the value will only changes according your activity. At night, our body is in resting mode where during our sleep, the body will start to enter the recovery mode. Providing the body with proper nutrition will enhance the recovery rate.

Guys.. can you all give some suggestion on my exercise routine? I am not sure I am doing right or not...

Stretching - 5mins
Warm up - 10mins
Weight training - approximately 10mins
Sit-up - 5mins
Jogging - 30mins
Cool down - 5mins
Stretching - 5mins
Massage my muscles - 5mins

Am I right with these steps ? Should I do weight training before or after cardio in order to loss weight ? My main concern is to loss weight, building muscles is secondary aim.
*
Weight training for 10 mins? What are you doing for that 10 mins exactly?

QUOTE(leaF @ Aug 23 2012, 02:25 AM)
so there is no real BMR value in this world since everyone having diff body fat and muscle etc. Check bmr with few websites that I can conclude that BMR is close to to that number but not exactly the figure given. To think of that building muscle is more important to increase bmr rate thus losing weight is much easier.

Do you know any disadvantages about potatoes? some claimed it is as bad as other carbo foods such as rice but some said that if prepared in healthy way , potatoes bring a lot benefits. Do you think it is wise to include potatoes into the diet for someone trying to lose weight ?
*
True. There isn't a fix value for a BMR, not like a BMI value. It all depends on a lot of variable but having that BMR value and calorie maintenance@TDEE which can be derived by using Harris Benedict Equation will gives us a good path to increase muscle mass or losing fat. If one understands about the simple thing about BMR, there wouldn't be a statements such as "I cannot increase my weight even I ate a lot" and "this mass gainers didn't work, gonna try another one. which brand is good?".

LOL.. my english sucks.. I don't know how to explain what i did..

dumbbell 12lbs x 12reps x 4 sets
push ups for 30 seconds x 4 sets
Erm... another one is for chest one.. 30lbs x 12 reps x 4 sets

My rest time quite long after each set. 1min rest time. HEHE.
*
Although with an added explanation from you, that is a very bad routine and to top it up, you are doing it on your every workout day. Going for huge chest ripped arm chicken leg build? Find a better routine just like what TechnoG suggest and read more.

bmr I think is the 'number' that show how much ur body is burning energy even u sleeping for whole day. Average a guy can have the range from 1600-2200 ( you need to include ur other details as well to get that 'number').

A healthy diet plan is to create a plan that only reduce from 200-500 from your bmr.
*
That would be Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) or calorie maintenance. BMR is the calorie that our body needs to function properly at minimum state (not doing anything). TDEE can be derived by multiplying BMR with one of the multiplier from Harris Benedict Equation.
