so how about new Inspiron 14z RM 2599 - 500GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with 32G mSATA Hard Drive , AMD Radeon™ HD 7570M with 1GB GDDR5

compare with
Inspiron 14R Special Edition RM2199 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i5-3210M Processor (3MB cache, up to 2.9 GHz) NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M DDR3 2GB

if do not consider the money factor...

the 1st one is more pretty, right?

dell and asus: which is better?
some says dell spare parts easy to find and some says dell easy to rosak
some says asus got design but no quality and some says asus keep your pc cool
so which brand is better? sad.gif
*
It's quite a subjective question.
When two brands with almost the same specs, it all comes down to your own preference.

Both are good brands with their pros and cons smile.gif

let's say the built quality, life spam and after sales service?
*
Hmm this is another hard and subjective question hmm.gif
Built quality and life span, both are pretty good. Both are made to withstand high graphics and gaming.
For after sales service, I'm not too sure. Its a hit or miss. I personally have not tried MSI laptops before. tongue.gif

less gaming... but do play battlefield, diablo and maybe sims3 for my gf, hoho... actually i want a better spec laptop and at least can last minimum 2years no need to buy a new one...
*
Err okay. So just gaming.
Like [PF] T.J. said, it comes down to personal preference.

For gaming, Acer V3 with Nvidia GT640M is relatively better than Dell Inspiron 15R SE with AMD HD7730M.
But if you're willing to chip in more, you can get a 3 years international warranty and FHD screen for Dell.

Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD(5400rpm)@RM3399, 8GB,backlit keyboard optional

Hi! I'm looking for a new laptop. I've been using macs pretty much my entire life and want to switch to windows.

1. Preferred Brand:

Not sure, but customer care and reliability are really important. I'll be leaving to study in Singapore, so international warranty/customer service would be a definite plus smile.gif

2. Budget

+/- RM3.5 - 4k

3. Usage

Doing uni assignments. I'm a classical musician so good audio for listening to music and capable of running music recording, editing and notation software. Playing mostly fighting games like street fighter etc, and just general entertainment.

4. Preferred laptop/screen size

15''

Thanks for the assist! biggrin.gif
*
This will be the most suitable one thumbup.gif

Dell
Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD(5400rpm)@RM3399, 8GB,backlit keyboard optional

It has got its own Skullcandy™ speakers with FHD screen. Chip in a little more to get 3 years international warranty.
Though it is very very limited for the time being sweat.gif

Or you can go for

Asus
N55Sl-S2064v, i5-2450M + Nvidia GT635M + (1600x900)@RM2899[Bang & Olufsen], 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm)

This one is running on SB but the speakers are pretty good too.

if i add on a ipad keyboard dock? I dont play computer games like dota since form4 even though I got a desktop. so is that iPad enough for me or i should go to 3rd gen i5 laptop with rm2k? or i should save more money wait for more 3rd gen new laptop release?
please give some advice thx smile.gif
*
It really depends on your usage.
If you don't play games at all except for apps or word documents/AutoCAD/graphics etc. then iPad will be sufficient.

guys, i wanna ask 1 question abt processor for gaming. Will there be any significant difference between i5-2450m vs i7-2670QM? Cheers.
*
Significant difference between i5 and i7 for gaming, not really in my opinion.
The i7 is mostly used for handling heavy multitasking/ multi applications.
It also means i7 will be consuming more power than i5.

For gaming, i5 with a strong GPU will be more than enough.

If you can wait, then wait. More laptops are going to be coming out with great specs nod.gif
Buy it when you need it smile.gif

If we're lucky, they might launch it around end of 2012.

oh yeah ? great then.

do you know where to look for upcoming laptop ?

and in ur personal opinion , is ultrabook same with normal notebook ? their perfomance. for example dell xps 13z and 15.
cause the 15z is abit heavy to carry around, but if i take ultrabook, im afraid it wont last long sad.gif
*
There are plenty of places to expect them. Or you can visit LYN for latest post and news smile.gif

Ultrabooks are built with lighter weight and smaller size without compromising performance and battery life.
Performance-wise, laptops perform relatively better than ultrabooks. If you are into gaming, then don't get an ultrabook.
For fast and normal usage with portability, go for ultrabook as they come with SSD nowadays.

1. Preferred Brand : Dell/Lenovo
2. Budget : <RM3000
3. Usage : video watching,mid-gaming,
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 15 above

P.S I was targeting Lenovo Y480 but most ppl saying the graphic card is LE version which is less powerfull if compare to GT630M. I was wondering is it worth to buy it? Around RM2400 for a freedos version.
Any other recommendation are welcome as well.
Thanks!
*
Lenovo Y480 is 14" hmm.gif
It uses Fermi LE version which is weaker compared to GT635M and GT640M.

I will recommend:

Dell
Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M@RM2999, 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm); backlit keyboard optional

For Lenovo there is not much choices as they run on the old SB.

Lenovo Ideapad Z570, i5-2450M + Nvidia GT630M@RM2399, 4Gb, 500GB, W7HP; color: grey

the Z570 also running in LE version?
Honestly, do you think there's a huge different betweem LE and non LE?
*
No its not LE version. Its only for GT640M that has so much variations.

I wouldn't say huge difference. But enough for visible differences.
The GT640M LE ( Fermi ) is a rebranded GT550M so its a little weaker.

Actually i ask you before ,i aim for acer laptop at 1st place and i have been warned by family and friend not to use acer so i decide between which better in terms of gaming
Dell
Inspiron 15R (Special Edition)i found coupon code in this page and tried and it worked thinking it quiet worth plus with now with extra RM200 off

Inspiron 14r (special)

Lenovo
Y480

By the im also gonna go for collage for sept now still finding a new laptop, will very appreciate your reply....
*
If you're getting Dell Inspiron 15R SE, I advise you get the one with FHD screen. It's worth it though its very limited/hard to get.

For 14", go for the Inspiron 14R as the GPU is much better than Lenovo Y480 for gaming.

Else if you can wait, then wait as more new laptops are coming in and W8 might come around August iinm.

I'm not sure about computer shops. Though the stock is very limited due to the FHD screen.

That is the one without the FHD screen.
This is the one with the FHD screen:

Win in what?
15R SE with FHD is no different from 15R SE. It just comes with the special screen for viewing pleasures smile.gif Everything else is the same.

That is the 32GB SSD. Put in simpler words, it makes the laptop run faster. You can google SSD for more info.

Edit: Its Windows 8.
