BURST WATER PIPE AT PERSIARAN SURIAN (UPDATE)
Kuala Lumpur, 15 February 2014 (6.00pm): Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) wishes to provide further updates to the incident where a 900mm water pipe was damaged during MRT Project construction work.

As at 6.00pm today, traffic flow along Persiaran Surian and Jalan PJU 7/8, which were partially flooded from water flowing out from the damaged pipe, has returned to normal after flood water had completely receded.

The MRT Project Work Package Contractor for this section, Mudajaya Corporation Bhd with the help of the Fire and Rescue Services Department, managed to pump all water away into an existing stormwater pit nearby.

The roads were reopened after cleaning work was completed at about 3.00pm today.

Repair works for the damaged pipe has commenced and is being carried out by Syabas. It is understood that Syabas will issue a statement on the estimated time needed for the repair and the areas affected by the closure of the water pipe.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the damage to the pipe may have been caused by sheet piling activity being carried out for utility relocation to make way for the construction of an MRT pier.

Detailed investigations by MRT Corp, the Project Delivery Partner MMC Gamuda KVMRT (PDP) Sdn Bhd and Mudajaya Corporation Bhd will continue to determine the cause of the incident.

At 10.15am today, construction work for the MRT Project had resulted in a 900mm water pipe at Persiaran Surian being damaged and caused the intersection of Persiaran Surian and Jalan PJU 7/8 near the IPC Shopping Centre in Mutiara Damansara to be flooded.

Syabas was immediately notifed of the incident and they managed to turn off the pipe to stop the water from flowing out of the damaged pipe.

MRT Corp apologises for the incident and for the inconvenience caused. All efforts are being taken at this moment to ensure that the situation returns to normal as quickly as possible.

Dunno about anyone else, but I think the Section 16 station looks a little weird in design. Too many columns there making it look messy.

progress too slow at LDP, whenever I go to work, all cars have to cramp in between lanes from 2 lanes to 1 lane before flyover... How disappoint their progress it may take another year to complete from LDP crossover to 1 utama. I dont see any pillar construction opposite 1 utama yet.....
