Guys, a quick question. Im planning to purchase a CX-5 soon. Just to reduce my monthly commitment, is it best to purchase:

1) CX-5 High spec; or shall I just go with;
2)CX-5 Mid spec (add in leather seat+navi). However, my SA told me I cant install the navi in M spec due to lack plug point ( not sure what exactly is she trying to say).

The additional specs are not very important to me.

Appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

Not sure about other ... to me Built in Navi not so important... generally receiption is bad ...I have been using my phone's wage which can provide me with the real time traffic info and i couldn't bother about the stock navigator which come together with the car ... just my view...

I am a user of a 2.5 for over a year, yes the leather seats make a difference. but I believe the navi is overrated. i am using a standalone garmin or even waze from my mobile which i believe is much better. just me..

Heard about rumours of Bermaz testing the 1.5L Skyactiv-D engines on the Mazda2. Are there any chances that they will bring in the 2.2L Skyactiv-D turbo diesel CX-5 seeing that EURO 5 diesel would be coming very soon to the Klang Valley?

Yes it rumors, and it will be rumors.
First of all MAZDA wouldnt find enough volume to make it attractive. And MAZDA/Berjaya is very conservative thus they only will bring petrol engine.

Anyway, cx5 is good car to drive, even SUV it drive like a car, in terms of driver point of view, it is miles better than CRV.
In term of space and interior functionality, CRV is a lot better.

I've got my new CX-5 2.0 HS 2 weeks ++ ago. I saw a small paint defect on the roof at the show room before i collected my car. It's very tiny but can be seen if go close, can i can just let it go but i complaint to my sales man on the spot saying this is a new car and i expect my car to be ZERO defect. He said he will talk to his boss and work out something for me. So i am waiting until now no news. Even if they give me to repaint the whole roof i dont want it because i've done coating on first day itself. I would like Mazda to compensate me with something like fuel voucher or anything just to make me happy.

Second thing is that my car is just 2 weeks ++ and my dashboard already got some squishing sound. The sound is like "tak" "tak" sound and it only appears when i am cruising on road with a very minor uneven road, cross humps, and while taking corners. This sound is very consistent and you can say evey 5 seconds sure got sound because of uneven road , humps, and taking corners. Before i bought my car, i've been reading a lot and it seems this dashboard making noise is problem but recently i had 2 friends who got the CKD CX-5 last DEC and March all didn't complaint any dashboard noise. So i guess i am the unlucky one here. I also told this to my sales man and this sat i am meeting him again to demo to him. let's see what they can do to rectify this dashboard problem.

If my car was 1 year ++ old i would have just close one eye and just get over it. But since my car is barely 3 weeks old and running below 500km in total, i am pist!

Anyone experience this sort of thing? I am hoping they could solve this problem especiallty the dashboard because it is annoying that sound!

You are right if talking about CBU but Bermaz is already assembling turbo diesel CX-5 for export to Thailand. So not enough volume argument is somewhat moot. Perhaps it's just not the right timing with regards to EURO 5 diesel introduction. I'm just hoping the relevant people in Bermaz read this and realise that whatever conclusions with the turbo diesel Mazda2 (hopefully positive), would and could also apply the same for the turbo diesel CX-5.

Yes, I am fully aware of the pros and cons vs the CRV. I've been a Mazda fan for very long and know for whatever money we fork out for our cars, the Mazda seems to always come out at the top for me.

If the CX-9 came with a greener turbo diesel, I would have taken that instead of the Santa Fe.

I m surprise if they bother about your paint defect as you need to sign an agreement that you have agreed on the condition of your car. As for sound of cause its still under warranty they will need to check and fix it if they can.

Guys, need some advices. I have been offered an 6k+ rebate and Skytint for high spec by a SA who intro by one of my friend. That's around 138k plus tint which worth 1.9k stated in price list. Vs GL variant 129k, it's quite a tempting offer though I could still wait for new facelift (feeling quite unsure while typing this). Dilemma. Go ahead or nah?
