eh, just want to ask, most sub is plug and play right? If i install HU and component, then ask them to drag 2 ch and power to my boot and leave it hanging, then buy a sub box a few months later, I can just plug it in ? No need to change anything else?
*
Yes, you are right. But generally need to tune the amp gain a bit to suit your sound...

Any recommended brand for me to look for? Is speakers already enough? Should I get the sub also?
*
If your budget is rm500, then can try Pioneer or Alpine. If 600-700, then you can get more branded items.

For less than 1k, if you want everything, those local brands will suit your requirements but I am not sure of your ears.

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum and I hope I'm asking at the right place, I need some recommendations from you guys for my car's audio system.

I'm driving this old second hand Wira, where it comes with a PERODUA cassette cum radio player (I think the owner removed his CD player and replaced it with a Perodua player) and it has been working perfectly fine for years.

Somehome, the damn thing died and I've been listening to podcast/music/radio from my smartphone with earphones for many many months...not exactly the good if you're driving.

I'm no audio enthusiast but I need a replacement player with the following requirements:-
- radio (duh!)
- not necessarily a CD plyer (who uses CD anymore??)
- The standard cable jack plug thing where I can plug in to my smart phone and play music/podcast
- entry level brand
- cheap (discourages thieves I hope)
- long lasting

Can anybody give me suggestions, brands and price range?
Purchasing player also inclusive of installation cost, right?
Where to get them, I mean any legitimate store where I can trust the price tag and services?

Do share here and PM me

Thanks guys!
*
What Mr. Q said above.

Have a budget in mind, then look for the HU that offer you all the features that you'll need.

Installation of HU is very cheap, unless your car requires another HU bracket.

Thanks for the fast reply!

RM400-600...my goodness, that's pricey for a card audio system. If I'm looking at the RM100-RM200 price range, am I looking at made in china cheap stuff or totally second hand stuff?
*
Thought you said you want something long lasting... If RM100~200 can last long, then probably everyone will go for it.

Hi, wanna upgrade my myvi audio. noobie.. hehe..

Alpine SPR-60C (component)
Alpine SWR-12D4 (sub)
Alpine PDX-F4 (4 ch amp)
HU (any pioneer mid range will do @@)

what do u think of this? Izzit enough? Prefer SQ than boom boom boom.
Do I need to buy 2x components? Or just install at the original passenger place enough???? 10 inch sub should be better for myvi right??

Any other recommendations? thx.
*
Your setup look OK~

Why Myvi cannot use 12" sub meh? Sub size is determine by your preference, not car type.

Well at 1st I was thinking 12" sub will occupy more space than a 10" sub. Still wanna put my groceries in my boot. Since myvi a smallish car.. Scared that the 12" will overwhelm the SQ with bass ma... I think la..
*
Regardless of the size, your boot will definitely be occupied. Myvi boot is just small.

Well, active sub is always and option... Just that it won't be as good as passive sub.

I would recommend German Maestro, that's my fav.

With your budget, you can afford a very very nice sounding GM speakers.

But as always, listen to one first before you make your decision.

If i can get over sea retail quote price, which amp brand should i get?

4Chn,A/B, >500W ~75W/chn
*
Since you asked a question with no budget stated:
1. BRAX
2. Audison
3. McIntosh
4. Zapco
5. Helix
6. Genesis (Even though they are packing up...)
7. JL
8. ARC (Howie Choo from EA told me not bad)

Above some are my favs. But I will honestly tell you to get 2 Genesis Dual Mono Extreme. drool.gif

My ride: Nissan Latio
- Prefers SQ/SPL/SQL: SQ
- File format/medium used for my source: MP3/USB/AUX/S3
- Music genre: pop, trance, drum and bass, punk rock..
- Budget: best for it's price.
- Setup type preferences: None
- Other requirements (if any): just wanna change my hu so i can use usb/aux cable without using fm transmitter for now, and to upgrade my whole audio system next time.
*
Best for it's price thing is very subjective.

The cheapest 1-din range you can get, I think is around RM300~RM400. Brand=Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, Blaupunkt, JVC etc... No SONY.

Would normally suggest Alpine or Pioneer.

But if there is anything that you find more interesting with USB/Aux, then just go for it.

looking for 2 din as i don't want extra gaps after removing the original player. below 1k? and another below 2k?
*
Gap????

Normally shop will be able to deal with that issue easily.

Your requirement is not hard to meet, just go for Alpine or Pioneer for 2-Din if you want to.

Latio do not require extra bracket for fitting in after-market HU. Just remove the old HU, and put in the new only only. Mine is just nice, no gap also.

what is the difference between single and double din in terms of sound quality?
which one would you recommend?
*
People go for 2-Din because of the features and also watch DVD. 1-Din have some very very good HU for pure sound.

If you are into "Sound Quality" then 1-DIN, you won't go wrong. But looking at your requirement, RM300~RM400 1-Din HU would suit you just nice.

I recommend = Buy 1 that have the features you need and suit your pocket. Just don't buy something for features that you would rarely use.

My preference is Alpine and Pioneer.

Since you have no idea what to get, please go get Pioneer P80PRS. Sure no regret.

Thank you.
