How to differentiate them as entry / pro range ?

alpine sounds  thumbup.gif  to me, kind of bias to that brand  biggrin.gif

Actually already eye'ing on ALPINE CDE-121E any words on this one ?
*
As long as the HU has the features you need, and the sound suit you just nice.

That will be the best HU for you.

Enjoy~.

Hello everyone...this is  my 1st time buying audio for cars....i think ive been long enough experiencing with sound using 2.1 and 5.1 speakers...so im expecting slightly a decent sound...not VERY good sound but decent is enough since my budget is only 1.3k (head unit not included)....Really2 hope u all can guide me...
- My ride: Nissan Almera
- Prefers SQ/SPL/SQL:  SQL
- File format/medium used for my source: FLAC/MP3
- Music genre: trance, dubsteb, techno, Rock, and also like to focus on Voice.
- Budget: 1.3K
- Setup type preferences:2 or 4 component set+tweeter,1 amp,1 woofer.
- Other requirements (if any):
got 1 seller in lowyat selling me Sony Brand at this price

1. Sony XS-GTX1622S component - RM299
2. Sony XM-GTX6041 amp - RM329
3. Sony XS-GTX121LB subwoofer - RM219
4. JBL GTO 501EZ monoblock - RM653

Is sony good enough?...and other thing is...what does monoblock do???bcoz the seller said that if without mono block, the sound will distort...

Hope u guys can guide me and answer all my question
*
Well, if your budget is only 1.3 for ALL that, I guess SONY can be considered good enough for your setup.

Using a monoblok will make your subwoofer sing better, monoblok is just another amplifier with single channel.

tq for your reply...

regarding hte monob, im not planning to buy them mono block at the 1st place since it is over my budget dy...

but the seller said that without it, my system will cut off the sound (4 channel amp)...is it true?
*
1. The amp is 4 channel sufficient to cater for your speakers and subwoofer. I don't think it will cut off, unless you turn up the volume.
2. Please buy from someone else.

he is selling it separately but he recommend to me to buy a mono block to improve sounds..

is his price expensive?
*
I am not talking about the price. I am talking about why he insist that a monoblok is a must.

Your setup will run fine, even without the monoblok. As long as the guy who install know how to tune properly.

ooooo...orait then...he did not insist but he encourage me to use moboblock as he said that it will unlock the full potential of the ice system..
hehe...so for entry level, that sony set will be okay for me?

or can u recommend a few more choices?...really need ur expert opinion
*
I would say, stay away from monoblok for now. Take what you have and listen and enjoy. Tak cukup, baru tambah.

SONY ok for you or not, I don't know. SONY is not OK for quazacolt.

Very hard to recommend a few more choices with the budget you have.

I would suggest to save more. 3~4k would be a better start into ICE.

If you really want to feel the difference, invest in a nice front component set first. And YES, with the amount of your current budget.
Maybe you will be satisfied and stop here, maybe you will not.
BUT you definitely won't regret NOT GETTING the SONY. tongue.gif

owhhh....thats sounds bad...

would u reccomend me a decent setup then?...the cheapest i can get for a decent sound...
*
Front component set lor? I just said, didn't I?

But you sound like you definitely want a subwoofer.

If it is me, I would spend it on a nice front component set. Preferably German Maestro, my fav. Can try Focal too.

1.3K you can get a very good front component already.

I am not saying you shouldn't go for the SONY. If your budget will be only that, then SONY would be a choice for you. I'm not sure about Pioneer etc...

BTW, if possible, don't buy a speaker thru looking at the prices in internet... unless you have listen to THAT particular speaker before.

Do consider some reservation on the budget for installation fees as well.

I just said German Maestro and Focal, didn't I?

Should not be a problem to locate it in Melaka.

LOL...i know the both brand u said bro....i would like some "specific"  recommendation from u which model will suit more on my budget...

will it perform well without any amp?

im sorry to ask a lot of question...im quite new to this ICE stuff..
one more thing, do u know in melaka which shop sells all this stuff?...i go a few audio shop, all china brand..if got some branded one, dont have any demo for me to listen to the quality..
*
Sorry, not Melaka guy.

You can try GM Concept or Focal Performance(If I get the name correctly).

Most of the speakers will perform better with amplifiers, because it amplifies also because your HU not kuat enough to amplify.

If you are new to ICE, I would tell you to install step by step, instead of putting everything in together.
Both ways will definitely show some improvement, the difference would be you will know what are being improved.

If you are new into ICE, go and listen to it yourself will be easier for you to make a decision. Instead of reading what people is saying in the forum.

But I can honestly tell you, any shop that is really into making business, "Test"/"Try" and listen is something that they will not hesitate to do for the customer.

Melaka definitely have a proper audio shop, since you have a Almera, just drive around and lookout lor...

first of all i hope the sifu-sifu s here forgive me for this noobish question...2 questions that is....

1.an amplifier's purpose is to amplify the signal from the HU to the speakers right....but does the amplifiers from different brands have different functions??

2. assuming the speakers and HU are the same in what ways would a premium brand amplifier would compare with a entry level one...assuming also that the rms watt out put for all channels are the same for the said two amps....
*
Yes. Mainly the output will sound different. That's why some people like this brand, some other like that brand.

Your question number 2 is like comparing car brand. Proton say their max speed is 300KM/h, Ferrari also say the same .... which one would you believe?

Wow that was very fast!

Hmm so a minimum spend of 8k? Sounds pretty steep considering I listen to non-bassy music at moderate volume.

What??? biggrin.gif

What is bass and volume has to do with price???

Ah apologies, to be more specific, I thought that you would only need a high end subwoofer and amplifier if you need high amounts of bass and volume. I do intend of course to buy the best speakers and HU that I can afford, and skimp more on the subwoofer and amp. Please correct me if my thinking is off.
*
No, car sound system do not work that way.

Actually there is no best speakers or HU. They are only best if it suits your taste.

You might want to consider soundproofing too, then only are you able to enjoy more of your music in the car.

Plenty of ways to get what you want.

Take the ideas from forum, and be present yourself in shops to listen it yourself to decide.

subwoofer do not only "boom boom boom" and loudness is not necessary not good, but depend on how you define loud also lar...

which brand do u recommend? is it need to choose one that match with my dls speaker? i think 8" for me should me enough because my car underseat space quite small, roughly 20+cmx40cm

Pioneer ts-wx110a- i saw this model has my ideal size for my car underseat..but the shop quote me rm1500, i saw online price between 650-800 only.. any cheaper options?
*
Wah... underseat sub for 1.5k?? If this is the price, might as well get a proper passive sub.

Don't worry about the size, once you found the shop you are comfortable with, just test the size.

maybe the shops at my area charged higher, Pioneer TS-WX110A, saw from mudah.my people selling only rm650 for new set..but i dont know how to install myself..i dont need a super boom bass, just a mid range one enough for me already.
*
Bro, underseat sub is consider ok sub. Not high end, mid range or boom boom, super bass sub. Plain and simple, it is an OK sub.

I don't know where are you located, but 1.5 I think is very very expensive.

Try look around more, I have seen some shops selling half of the price only for 10" size.

Share your location here, maybe other forumers can help you out with shop details.
