is this set up okay?

hu- pioneer deh 80rps
speaker- jbl ms 62 c
amp- ppi 900-4
and a sub to go with
*
I have no idea on the amp. But the JBL speakers is like asking Seb Vettel to drive a Kancil, and race in F1... Of course Vettel is referring to the HU.

i incuded the jbl in the list as it is the best bang for its buck for only usd 180ish.
good reviews everywhere saying that it is a decent speaker so i was wondering why not?  sweat.gif

what do you recommend then?
*
I can roughly recommend based on your budget. But I still have no idea how much you willing to spend....

If what you want is only USB and AUX, then just change a HU will do. I wouldn't recommend you to do all in one go, because most of the time people end up regret with the purchase.

I still reco you to change HU first, according to your budget.

my previous budget was just a kick start as I just ventured into ice.
i'm willing to spend to pleasure my ears.
may i ask why people regret with their purchase?
*
They said ICE is poisonous, the more you listen the more you want to change.

Well, what pleasure your ears, you also dunno yet. So why dump everything at 1 go?

Decide how far you are willing to go in "pleasuring your ears", that's important too.

If you really want to know about ICE, don't go to shop and ask what you can get with this budget.
What you should do is go to the shop, and listen for free demo system. Then maybe discuss with the boss and decide from there.

Besides Warranty , others are same as the original quality sounds ? And does it reliable? Im getting Pioneer AVH-X8550BT .
*
AP means it is not imported by Pioneer Msia only, sound IS the same since they are from the SAME manufacture.

Reliable? Depend on your installer and who is the seller.

But if you ask me is it worth getting an AP HU? Subjective lor...

- My ride: Hyundai Atos
- Prefers SQ/SPL/SQL: SQ maybe?
- File format/medium used for my source: : iPod, Android, MP3
- Music genre: : all music but mostly POP, DJ, Jazz
- Budget: : below 1000
- Setup type preferences: : no preferences, I just want to replace all my stock speakers and HU, and if possible I want to add an Underseat subwoofer. Thats all.
- Other requirements (if any): I just need a decent sound system which suit my budget. No preference brands.

But I have saw these two HUs :
http://xciteaudio.com/car_headunit/pioneer_deh-x1650ub
and
http://xciteaudio.com/car_headunit/alpine_cde-141e

will those two enough or overkill for me? or sifus has other recommendation, I'm all ears..  biggrin.gif
And also, is there any recommendation shop where I can go to install the sound system?
Or I can just buy online (like from xciteaudio) and install anywhere? looking at my simple setup.
*
Always goto the shop near your place, if you are not so fanciful on the audio system. 1k you should be able to find something, but should not be able to include the underseat sub. You still need to consider installation fees.

I'll say 1.5k should be ok for you.

Well, there is always a work around. For starter, just leave the rear speaker as it is.

hmm, okay.
So the 1.5K budget is for the HU + front Speakers only? or is it included the underseat sub?
What I'm afraid is, bcos I'm inexperienced in these stuffs, my throat will be cut kaw kaw when going to just any shop.
sad.gif  sad.gif
*
Well, you can share where you stay or where you think is convenient for you to go. Then those people here will be able to tell you more then...

1.5k should include HU, front speakers and underseat sub.

Rear speakers are always a waste of money. Most of them will say they need to entertain the people sitting at the back, but when your car move up to certain speed, they won't hear much from the back or anything already.

Have a good installation that can bring the front stage up to your dashboard level, then everyone can enjoy your new upgrade.

Cheers.

I drive a Myvi that comes with a DVD player and GPS.

My current speakers already like "pecah-pecah", most likely coz sometimes I need to increase the volume to enjoy the music.

I have absolutely no knowledge on any "ICE" thingy  blush.gif - but what I do want is nice crisp sound and music. I mostly just listen to the radio or something on the USB.

Also my DVD only plays when the car is parked - possible to get it to play all the time, parked or moving?

Appreciate any recommendations of any sort  biggrin.gif

Your DVD issue can be solved easily.

Your speaker issue can be solved easily. Knowing you can feel that something is lack in your music, suggest go for front speakers upgrade and add in an active sub-woofer.

I guess this is the cheapest upgrade, yet improve your music a lot.

- Your ride
myvi EZ

- Prefer SQ/SPL/SQL (SQ being sound quality, SPL being sound pressure level, and lastly SQL being a mix of both SQ/SPL)
punchy and clear bass like vios and city

- File format/medium used in your source (flac, mp3 or ipod/CD/USB etc)
USB port

- Genre of music you listen to (classical, jazz, metal, etc)
pop, dance, modern rock and R&B

- Setup type preferences (3 way, 2 way, active or passive etc)
exactly same with stock set up. if possible could i just change the 2 front speaker into a better 1 with better bass? i dont mind spending abit more to install a smaller speaker as long it does have the quality

- Other requirements (if any)
simple setup. budget less than 500-600. basically i would like to change the player with the speaker. that simple. as you all know the quality of myvi stock speaker.....
*
What you want to do : change speakers and HU.

I would suggest to add in also active sub.

But with your budget, suggest to change 4" component set first and see how it goes.

Your myvi is first gen?

My ride : vios 2014
Prefer : SQ but with a litlle bass boom boom also nice
File format : cd , usb , iphone
Music genre : still rocking 90's smile.gif
Bajet : 1.5k - 3k
Other : remain HU as my car still new. Thinking to change the component set 1st for the front. R carrozzeria component set is worth to buy?
*
With the budget you have, you have more option on the speakers.

Also to add into your boom boom, you can add in a underseat subwoofer.

My ride: Fiesta S Mk7 2010
- Prefers SQ/SPL/SQL: SQ
- File format/medium used for my source: maintain original hu
- Music genre: Any except hard rock
- Budget: RM900-1000
- Setup type preferences: speakers only as don't want to disturb Hu interface
- Other requirements (if any): would budget be enough? willing to try day as I did it in my daughters myvi.  Saw some packages on xcite audio from focal... Would their entry level be an upgrade over original?
*
RM1k, very healthy for speakers only. German Maestro, or Focal if you like...

Maybe DLS can also, but no experience in that.

Thanks for replying...
After reading the great advice around here, maybe soundproofing the front doors would be important too.
Can't seem to get prices on German Maestro or DLS anywhere online, so would 1k be enough?...or how much more..another 300-400?
*
Sound proofing front door would be nice too. But if you have to lum all that into 1k, then you might need to go a level down on the speakers.

Suggest you keep 1k for speakers, and top up for the front doors soundproofing.

Now where to go to? Suggest some shops near your house, or browse through LYN looking for some installer sharing.

Thanks for your feedback.
OK...I have decided to make this a diy project since changing front speakers only.
Choice of speakers still undecided of the following :
1. Dominations Buddy ( I think the elite is above 1k?)
2. DLS C6A
2. German Maestro CS 6508
Would like to ask if anyone here knows where I can buy this in KL / Selangor (Cash & Carry) or even reputable online sellers.
*
No ideas on online seller selling these brands, or brand new speakers.

But if you are dealing online, then just take precaution on item manufacture...if it is ori.

I think DLS have fakes, but not sure about Domi or GM.
