I see, so it's better to go for a good 4channel amp now? Would Rm2.2k be enough for a good 4channel amp and a 12" woofer?

yeah thats about fitting what i have mentioned smile.gif
4 channel amps just makes it easier to settle for an entry complete setup -> 2 channel component 2 channel sub, and you're done smile.gif

just under 4k. proper ICE is waaaaaay more expensive than a full headphone setup.

case in point, i only spent 1.5k+ for a mid range audio technica headphone + amp (you could probably argue i didn't buy a DAC, but seriously, a standard sound card + ASIO software DAC is muuuuuch better than anything under a centrance level DAC and that cost 1k+)

while i spent yeah, 4k for an entry level ICE setup.
to scale it up, refer home theater/home hi-fi, much more expensive than ICE smile.gif

Hi, need some advise on some basic ICE mod

- Your ride: Vios 08
- Prefer SQ/SPL/SQL: high clarity with tight bass (not into those techno/hip-hop kind of bass)
- File format/medium used in your source: mp3 and CDs
- Genre of music you listen to: metal, modern rock, pop
- Setup type preferences: any set-up that doesn't need a woofer, or to add an additional pair of tweeters (my car is the standard 4-speaker set-up)
- Other requirements (if any): prefer not to add woofer in the boot, don't mind changing stock speaker to other brands/type or to add in an amp

my budget is roughly around RM2.5k max, my current HU is kenwood KDC-U449.

you can try adding on a component set and a nice 4 channel amp (in case you change your mind on a subwoofer wink.gif )
2.5k should be more than enough.

alternatively you could also try changing HU + comp set, save up more then go for an amp to drive the component set (and using its left over available channels for your stock 2x speakers)

at least an amp would be required to drive most component sets' bass reproduction, HU alone just does not have enough power, much less a *somewhat* lesser kenwood (not your typical alpine/pioneer and even them couldn't possibly provide enough juice for most 6.5 midbass tongue.gif )
