Still ok maa. This kind of grain still can be easily removed in LR or PS if done right.
Pardon my noobness/beginner-ness, but this is what I did in LR :

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

In LR under Noise Reduction, i just increase luminance and color and nothing else.... I try to retain some grains a lil' bit. If done straight from your RAW after doing the sharpening, I think should be better. tongue.gif

*oh well, I'm also stuck with 1600/3200 only of my D3100... 3200 i use only when urgent or really needed. Had to use 1600 max most of the time only. sad.gif
Wish I could get D5100/D7000 sensor and push to 3200/6400 when I need it (yeah D700/D800 would be nice but ...but ... but ....*sigh* huhu...)
*
wow. everyone so extreme. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif haha I seldom go past ISO800. Normally shooting at ISO200-400

another question:

how fast shutter speed for make the car stopped?

how slow the shutter speed to make eveything blur?  hmm.gif   unsure.gif
*
This was shot actually at 5kmph.. but looks like going at faster speed. Shutter speed was 1/30 of a second.
user posted image

If you look at water drop photography, they use high shutter speed to freeze the water drop. The same concept applies. try go shooting at a water fountain. Try fast to slow shutter speeds, its easier to understand smile.gif)

this looks dangerous...looks like you open the car door and head out to shoot in car.  shocking.gif
with low angle?  unsure.gif  thumbup.gif

hmm there i got a question quite long already...

a body with auto focus motor and witout.... does it help auto focus faster with AFS lens?
*
LOL not dangerous.. my camera was on a rig. attached to the car. blush.gif worried for the 1st 5 mins only. Head out the door was last week.. with a super car.. lol. maybe will post that photo here later... rolleyes.gif

In the mean time. old photos

QUOTE(amduser @ May 3 2012, 09:58 PM)
i didnt shot with VR when i'm using my 55-300mm because i want to save my battery for the rest of the day, i follow use the shutter vs focal length rule but that would mean lesser panning effect for the photos

i cant even get sharp image with my 35mm on 1/40 shutter speed sad.gif
*
no need vr for panning, because it will be fighting with you to stabilize vertical and horizontally. where we will be moving horizontally. I also tried the 55-300 for panning with VR.. for me I swtich it off. I was told by my friend that Canon's IS can swtich on both axis or only one... maybe thats their secret hmm.gif

just before you pan, do a few mock swings, get comfortable. Track the object for a while before you hit the shutter. the effect is amplified if the subject is far, going very fast and you have a tele, most likely no need to slow the shutter down much. But if your on wide and the subject is close like go karts zipping by, even 1/60 shutter can give some effects already. Hard to describe in text, best is to go out there and shoot. Find your sweet spot.

thats cos 55-300 VR isnt as advanced.
both 70-300 and 70-200 the VR has active mode which is useful for panning.
*
haha I see. I dont own any lens with VR technology so I'm not sure. I tot all is same one? sweet~ icon_idea.gif

ic....but that time the space is really limited and a lot of tiang and barricade blocking sad.gif

i might be able to do better if i can use my 35mm which i am more comfortable with

i dont think there is any car racing events, japan GT clash with another event that i'm going to attend vmad.gif
*
U can try going to GRA Round 1 this sunday at shah alam car park W4 not as glamour as SuperGT but u can to try out some panning and see some cool driving skills. Entrance to see is free.

QUOTE(celciuz @ May 4 2012, 07:23 AM)
Normal and Active, normal will automatically adjust for axial direction.. meaning if you panning in X direction, VR will compensate for Y direction movement and not X.

Active however will ignore that and compensate for both X and Y direction, for shooting on 'unstable' grounds.

ahhh~ good to know thumbup.gif thanks for the info bro

How close can you go? cause I only have an 85mm lens and that's my furthest.. if that is not enough, probably i might not go. sad.gif
*
You can go as close as the race marshals allow. Any closer you might jeopardize your safety, in event of an accident. Its best to have 80-200 range for easier selection of angles.. on 85 probably u have to walk around to get nice angle. smile.gif

QUOTE(amduser @ May 4 2012, 08:30 AM)
sure is free?

i see here say RM150/entry
http://www.grassracingautosports.com/gra-a...ps&c=2012entry1
shocking.gif

but see if i got the mood to go or not la tongue.gif
the website says it is at a car park, i dont think it will be so big, maybe need to say "excuse me" and go closer
*
yes its free to view.. 150 per entry if you wanna sign up and race bro. thumbup.gif The lotus I posted here earlier was shot on 80-200 at 200 end, filled up the whole frame (a bit too tight I think). So can get up quite close.

Well if anyone here goes up and see a funny fellow called Ian Khong, pls tell him Cybreed says Hi! smile.gif

small event but the track is quite big, they are quite strict with where the photographer can go, we can only go to places where marshall is standing
*
yea. because safety reasons. cannot have any complains or issues about safety at all. Still small events nicer I think. Less ppl fighting for angle xD
