Yeah I know the one you recommended is good but my budget is between 1k to 1.5k. Then maybe on my next upgrade i will go for the higher ends

If bike below 2k. Just choose the colour you like. Afterall it doesn't have any obvious different at all.

In my humble opinion. Giant, Trek, Specialized, Santa Kurus, Yeti, Scott and other major brand have very good R&D and after sales support.
Those bike carrying a good resale value too!!

Forget the XDS, Exitway and other junk.. Unless you ride taman only. Those bike don't have resale value.. Period.

Forgotten06, it is true that all the advice here really do make sense in real world off road mountain biking. a proper mountain bike make a huge different in off road especially safety wise and ability to enjoy. otherwise most likely you gonna hate mountain biking or have yourself injured doing endo with cheapo bike.

do remember that you are posting in mountain biking (the activity) thread here and not just a thread about mountain bike.
i realize a lot are asking about budget mountain bike for cycling and not mountain biking.

if you are not serious into mountain biking... and just looking cycle with a mountain bike.. then 1-2k, any bike will do.. just choose the look and color u like.. it makes no different on road much. in fact one can go rigid for weight savings or better buy a road bike.

otherwise if serious about doing mountain biking... save up more and spend for a proper entry bike.

read page 1... there is good info about the budget... for serious into the sport.. put 5k for a bike and accesories. the more hardcore u wanna do in mountain biking the more expensive it would be..
there is a list of bike shop there... go survey and do some home work.

I would change from a 160mm to a 120mm if the HTA is slack enough on a HT. LOL

KSH it seems can't be trust. Maybe is the worker problem. I asked about Santa Cruz Superlight. Just need the frame only and transfer my previous bike group set.
I want the rear shock Fox Kashima RP23.
But the SC worker say it cannot work with Superlight. Alot problem. But I check online. Alot people upgrade to rp23 kashima on their Superlight. Now I'm so confused.

Have you ask the question why cannot?

This bike seems to be extremely cool looking to me. But 'FOCUS' never seen/ride one before. Was told by a friend that this bike is super fast coz his friend own this. Anyone had ridden "FOCUS' here? Mind to give comment on this brand? I'm in the process to get a new bike.

Thanks

End up I find out the answer. They don't have rp23 kashima. Unless SC bike comes with it. But they have the normal RP23. Even the front fox kashima, they don't have. Is black color. Bundle with SC bike. Price is very cheap. Around rm 1900 for 100mm float kashima. They mostly recommend DT Swiss. As I ask the other bike shop. They say KSH is not dealer for FOx. I guess I'm not wrong. Asked Penang and butterworth kSh

that thing is call steerer tube, the washer you refer to raise the stem is call headset spacer.

anyway.. either way also can but before do adjust the stem height for best position and comfort. try first... dun put high up just because the tube is long.. experiment urself till you found a ideal height... then can cut and leave about 10-20mm if still too long

Merida frame worth to replicate?

Me just back from Senaik, spent money again.
This time on reverb, not sure if it is the best deal or I really look like fish.

Anyway, got 2 sales girls can buaya. No wonder kaki here like Senaik so much.
