QUOTE(frodo baggin @ Jul 6 2013, 10:52 AM) Those planning to do P2 part time can consider blended learning approach @ J pro - currently the price is RM1000 which includes the online lecture, online revision, f2f classes and f2f revision. Register by 7th July. This is good for those that have no time to attended too many classes and don't like spoon feeding approach of normal classes. Are there any JPRO which is fully online-based? |

QUOTE(Ryance @ Jul 27 2013, 10:41 AM) Hi guys, I was with Spencer for 1 session for P5. He focus a lot on theory parts and he also mentioned that theory is his forte. He does make the lectures interesting too and not just monotonous. Want to ask Kasturi School of Accountancy P2 lecturer Spencer Cheah and Joe Fang, which is better ?? Anyone with experience from these 2 lecturers mind sharing some comments about their lecture style ? And, KSA iRC class is it good ? Thanks in advance Regarding the IRC class..I think it heavily depends on the lecturer. I attended before and my experience there was rather unpleasant but it's due to the lecturers and not the institute in itself. |

QUOTE(hoorae @ Aug 19 2013, 11:31 PM) hi. i'm new here.. i took f8 and f9 this semester (i failed both last sitting) so i'll re-sit these papers.. f8 i think i can do self-study but for f9 i want to take class..can you guys recommend which lecturer is good? I wouldn't recommend Andrew Pang. Had a lousy experience under him. i heard andrew pang from kasturi is very fast and did not focus on the theory much..i prefer max yong but eventually he stopped teaching at kasturi..so can you guys suggest/recommend anyone else who teaches f9 which is good?? thank you.. If you want you could probably self study F4 as well. |

QUOTE(neverknowgirl @ Aug 23 2013, 11:29 PM) I cant self study although most of u can do it, haiz Well, for P1 I had a lecturer who just reads the textbook out to us. It's based a lot on memory work and common sense for the elaboration part. What I did was memorize a few of the important models and key-terms. Then I just went in and elaborate as much as I could using those points while still trying to make sense. I passed it with 1 attempt. My friend self study for p1 and she pass it , but i cant! Any advice for me? Now taking p1,p3 and f9.. For P3 it's basically the same. A bunch of models which you will have to memorize and apply to the questions. QUOTE(oOoproz @ Aug 25 2013, 02:43 AM) Hmm alright!!! But some past year answer is quite long and lots of unnecessary stuff too, what should I do then?? For F4, I only studied the PYQ. Actually to be exact I only read through the answers of those PYQ and highlight the important points. Also, don't be under the assumption you need to remember all the case law names and years, if you are aiming for a pass. I passed without quoting any case laws in F4. If you are aiming to score then you should probably memorize them all.I should mention that it's still early so don't resort to short cuts. Go through everything as you still have plenty of time. QUOTE(adrianzz @ Aug 25 2013, 02:46 PM) Hey guys, i gotten 49 % for my f7 last sitting..Between self studying and retaking class, which 1 is more recommended? Which are you more comfortable with? I wouldn't want to tell you to self-study and end up with bad results. But I did self-study after failing it once. But my case was different, because I did not understand my lecturer's methods so I failed quite badly and started studying from scratch, using different formulas and methods. This post has been edited by nick67: Aug 26 2013, 12:02 PM |

QUOTE(MysticJewels @ Sep 2 2013, 05:37 PM) Hi I am a working mother, intend to take P4 as I failed my last paper - P6 in December 2012 sitting. Wanted to take P5, as I just want to complete the last paper, but was told its harder to pass P5 nowdays. Hmm, I think P6 is easier to pass (judging from pass rates). Why don't you consider it again since you would be better prepared for the next time? If you start P4 from scratch now I think you would have to study really hard.I stay in Klang, weekdays I cant make it for class in KL. Isit to late to attend intensive class now? Any class for P4 during weekends besides Sunway and Taylor? Worse scenario I will study on my own, probably buy notes from any seniors that has P4 notes here? Please advise, anyone? Thanks so much! |

Very disappointed with ACCA. They collect so much fees but their server couldn't handle heavy traffic. Been trying to pay my fees for more than an hour already.

QUOTE(frodo baggin @ Sep 18 2013, 12:56 PM) Actually CAT is a diploma, since students who complete it is given 1 year exemption in UK accounting degree. In Malaysia it is not accepted for anything other than moving into ACCA. Hey frodo, may I know more info about getting a Masters after ACCA? Is the Masters offered anywhere in Malaysia or only in the UK?ACCA F level is considered equal to a degree since Oxford Brookes University in UK is involved vetting the qualification for Degree. You will get the BSc (Hons) Applied Accounting once you have finished all 9 papers at F level. The P Level is assessed at Masters level in UK, you can get a Masters by doing a top up after the P level. Obviously the Malaysian system does not take into account what UK does since our system is way more superior In this case, ACCA is not recognised for PTPN loans. Hope that helps |

QUOTE(mayonnaiseeeee @ Oct 14 2013, 05:54 PM) no, you got me wrong i guess. Worry not, my friend. For I have passed with nothing more than the "bluff notes". i won't go for the exam by just finishing up the bluff note. instead, i'll finish all questions in the bpp revision kit, by hook or by crook. i'm not really wanna take the shortcut but with just less than 2 months i'm thinking how can i get the most from this limited timeframe. don't you actually think that p3 is very case based that doing more pyq is particularly important? because if i'm trying to finish up parminder 4th note i might not have the time to try out much pyq. im not trying to argue or asking you to conform to my thoughts but since most of you here have the experience i sincerely wanna see whether my plan works or not. thank you for responding. so kind of you. but please do not have the "student nowadays" bias. most of us work really hard as well. just like students in the olden days. But seriously. There's plenty of time to finish up your notes. Unless you have 3 other papers along with P3. |

QUOTE(mayonnaiseeeee @ Oct 14 2013, 09:25 PM) thank you nick. yeah. me too actually believe there'd be enough (not plenty though haha) time. but my department is going to peak very soon so i'm bit worried about my schedule. so just in case. hopefully i can get through p3 and move. thanks nick. long way to go. life. phew. Hah no worries. I only had a copy of the bluff notes and the pyq booklet from Michael and yet I passed. Now you have so much more than what I had. So I believe you will ace P3 this sitting. |

QUOTE(donizback @ Oct 30 2013, 11:15 AM) I suggest you to go for Elliot Betts IRC in FTMS. I will say he is the best, no one here in Malaysia comes near to him. I would not really have passed since i focused to much on the Numerical parts of the paper but his 18 hours of teaching made me get 66 in June 2013. May I know why is he the best in Malaysia? That's a pretty bold claim unless you had studied under all the lecturers in Malaysia, right? |

QUOTE(donizback @ Oct 30 2013, 11:57 AM) Firstly hello nick how are you? Ages since i saw your post!! I'm fine thank you. Now, first of all, he is a native English speaker so none of the Malaysians come near to him in English and accent. Secondly, he has a great 16+ years of experience. Thirdly, he added me on fb and even asked that if you have any problem in P4, i would be glad to help(since he is full time teaching in Singapore And, my friends who studied from Spenser and other lecturers in Kasturi and Elite Jaya, all 16 failed and FYI 3 of them were taking F8, which they passed. Now F9 is bread and butter as compared to F8. I just studied it the first time and nailed it but still we can't compare anyone with those legendary British lecturers such as Marty Windle, Tom Clendon, Eliott Betts, Rob Sowerby etc. He does sound like a great lecturer. Most lecturers I know would prefer to be approached by the student and not the other way around, which is very reasonable. However I feel that sometimes having an English accent may not work to the students advantage, especially since we are used to our local slang here. It may be difficult for some students to follow or understand the lecture with an accent. Though, almost all of the lecturers I have studied under has reasonably good command of English (not that having perfect grammars would matter in exams). I studied under Ms. Geetha in Sunway and passed on my first attempt, albeit not being the brightest student. She was nice as well, since she came to talk to me rather politely and asked if I needed help when I did badly for my tests. I never had the chance to study under other lecturers for F9 (thank god), so I don't know for sure if Ms. Geetha is the best in Malaysia, but I certainly find her methods of delivering her lectures good. I am sure that there are students in Spencer's or other lecturers' classes in Kasturi and Elite Jaya who did well for F9, perhaps even higher than 66, even though they aren't your friends. As well as there most likely are students who failed under Eliott Betts in FTMS, right? |

QUOTE(donizback @ Oct 30 2013, 12:38 PM) Well, I agree with you here. Some students feel that English accent is not understandable by them and vice versa. For me, my primary and secondary education was delivered to me in English by the British so I like their accent and feel kinda awkward listening to the local accent here. Yep, it's highly subjective and dependent on the students themselves as well. Though I guess the revision you attended really helped you in your case, which is awesome.Never heard about Ms.Geetha though but it is upon the student to understand it. Taking F8 from Joey this sitting, in the earlier couple of classes I couldn't understand his accent, however now he is okay. Some still complain about him that he isn't a good teacher other says he is. I am not saying getting 66 was an awesome marks and no one can get them, i told them just because of you to get a flavor that at 24 May i was thinking that i would fail the paper and then the 3 days revision made me pass it with that marks. Well, this is logical that some students definitely would have failed under him as well, the thing is if you don't study then it doesn't matter how good the teacher is, you will ultimately fail. Wanna give the example of Wei, who was the prize winner for F8 in December 2012, failed in P1( got 9 marks lol) under the same lecturer, Joey Wong. Ms. Geetha is pretty famous for F9 in Sunway. The other lecturer is Ms Joyce if I am not wrong. Both are equally awesome lecturers, but have completely different approach conducting lecturers. Ms. Joyce speaks with an "English" accent which I find it hard to follow at times but still very systematic in class. Anyway, good luck this coming sitting! |
