Imagine Preve 1.6 NA will be more underpower than Elantra 1.6. Proton should just keep 1 NA variant instead of 2. Sure cannot sell those NA Preve.

but need to see how much elantra weight 1st and preve's weight to see the power to weight ratio to determine underpower or not

The Elantra should be slightly lighter than the P321.

I think they still can sell that NA variant due to affordability issue but more people will complain about underpower prob.
This isn't good for Proton overall brand image.

If that's the case then for those people that is gonna buy Preve without the CFE Turbo, THey gonna face more underpower issue compared to Elantra

Also bear in mind, other than being lighter than the Preve, Elantra's 1.6 Gamma MPI engine also outperforms the Campro 1.6 IAFM+

Gamma MPI - 128hp @ 6000 RPM, 157Nm @ 4,300 RPM
Campro IAFM+ - 108hp @ 5750 RPM, 150Nm @ 4,000 RPM

where as

Campro CPS - 125hp @ 6500 RPM, 150Nm @ 4500 RPM

So yeah, the IAFM+ variant will probably be pretty underpowered.

but 1 uses 6 speed and 1 uses CVT
it will be underpower but it won't feel underpower due to CVT's smoothness
but the 6 "actual" gear...u will feel underpower

And why the heck does Proton's 1.6 Campro has so low hp compared to other 1.6 engines??

the elantra 1.8, i was quite impress with it. was thinking of topping up to get it.
coz my colleagues say "proton ah? why not get vios? why not get import car?"

If you care too much with your colleague perception, the only choice left is only Honda and Toyota.
But those car especially Toyota always come with lame spec. So it really depend with your personal preferences.
Anyway if you plan to top up for Elantra 1.8, i don't think it fair to compare with Preve. Price different is just too much.

the CFE focus mostly on torque(pickup)..not HP(top speed)
pickup fast is more important than going higher top speed...how fast can u go actually when the road is full of corners/turns
plus..top speed on exora already proven can go 200KM/H ++
topping up for elantra?...thats quite a BIG topup isn't it?
and ask your colleague..whats go great abt vios?....4AT?...great FC?..pretty much thats it...no improvement whatsoever in many years
and it cost 91k for that vios somemore
ask him to drive the preve and say again
