with me coming straight from Divinity Original Sin the graphics & combat here don't really look that appealing do they?

everything still kinda looks... rough. IMO even Fallout Tactics looked better than this...sweat.gif

The game is pretty bad
I play the beta because I backed it and I can say that if you are hoping for good gameplay in this game, don't. Have less options than even Shadowrun.
Based on the beta, the story is so and so only. Not that good but no that bad.
Graphic is pretty much what you see.

There is another 5gb update for Wasteland 2 according to Cracksys. However, game is still in an early access stage.

2D sprite used in original FO/FOT would always looks better than 3D model; at least for a couple of years more.

anyway, RPG with tactical element would never trump tactical game with RPG element.

so yeah, comparing it with Shadowrun is just wrong.

1. RPG with tactical element: Fallout Tactics, Shadowrun, Icewind Dale series?
2. tactical game with RPG element: Wasteland 2? Jagged Alliance? Please provide more examples.

Is my understanding correct?

IMO, RPG with tactical element is Fallout, Arcanum, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Night, Witcher 1, Drakensang, TOEE (my fav after Fallout).

Fallout Tactic, Jagged Alliance, Shadowrun, Syndicate (the original, not the FPS abomination) are tactical games with RPG elements.

you can see clear distinction on how the former emphasize on stories, dialogs, mission branching and NPCs more than the later.

that's why the combat system of the former would almost never be as deep as the later.

Urm, Shadowrun is a RPG with tactical element
You should have play it already that and while it have better gameplay (the Shadowrun gameplay is still terrible compared to TOEE, Jagged Alliance 2, FFT, Tactics Ogre), the story, dialogues and mission branching is there in Shadowrun.

I given my feedback based on the beta I played.
If you regret it after purchasing it, don't say I didn't warned you.

Seriously, if anyone is interested in Wasteland 2 and haven't backed it, just wait until all the youtube let's player that you watched have the game first and watch if the gameplay is to your taste.
You can then judge yourself if it's to your taste or not.

finished shadowrun returns twice and i didn't find any mission branching in it.

it is just one linear main mission with couple of unrelated side missions. the dialogue are forced options and the one you can really pick based on your etiquette is just those that rewards you with more monies/resources.

that is not to say it's a bad game since i spent and enjoyed a good 30 hours out of it.

it's an OK tactical game with some RPG element but excellent storytelling.

Well, I've been away from the thread for quite some time. Glad to see a discussion going on. Do you guys want me to lock the thread so you can open a new one? Let me know.

If this can be as good as Divinity Original Sin, then it's probably worth the money. How much has changed since the beta first opened? I honestly didn't enjoy it back then.

I still think it should be lower. This is digitally plus it's not even AAA. Shadows of Mordor also lower. RM60 sounds about rite
