Popfish, coz you're doing it all wrong. Use a slow shutter speed and you do not need a tripod.

Perhaps you have your photography concept all mixed up. You need to brush up on your basics 1st.

There's ntg to do with anti hand shake (whatever that is) either. You need a fluid movement at your hips as you follow the vehicle thru the finder. Set at AF-C, continuous shutter, tuck your arms as close to your body as much as possible to help upper body stability. Try start at 1/30s and increase or decrease shutter speed to your taste. Practice more.

don't be intimidated lah.... 1/30s is actually not too difficult to achieve sharp photo. you need some effort, of course, but it is achievable. wink.gif

50mm can mean a lot of lenses with different filter threads. which one are you referring to?

It only helps to protect your front lens element, nothing more than that.

zstan aka satan (lol), hmmm, could he be referring to 55mm filter thread instead of the 50mm lens? I don't know, just guessing as well. Since 55mm prime lenses are not common.

But anyway, for most 50mm, there's not much need for a filter as the front element is recessed quite deep inside the lens. Getting knocked on the front element in these cases are really down to bad luck. Can't say the same for 35mm lenses though.

filter price differed by its size/diameter. the bigger the pricier.

all filter helps in photography. but uv only helps in film era. digital sensor mostly has the built-in aa or low pass filter, which already filtered uv by default. the uv filter now is more for lens protection.
